I called Joe at PBC Locksmith, and he said he could be there in a half hour! He showed up just on time, was super friendly and really knowledgeable! The deadbolt was completely broken so he took that out and replaced it, and was able to just rekey the bottom lock. From start to finish he was probably done in a half hour, and simple payment through credit card. I will definitely be keeping his number in case any other lock emergencies should arise! Considering that he answered my unasked questions all via his initial messages, I hired him. Basically, while I was out of town, the batteries in my Schlage Encore died. This lock was a replacement for a previously owned (10 years) Schlage. I changed those batteries every 2 years. I purchased the Encore in mid January 2025 and received a battery alert while out of town, the latter part of March. Not happy. Back to Nathan...He was punctual; actually early so he was waiting for me. Nathan assessed the situation and he was able to get me access to my home almost immediately! He swapped out my batteries, checked and cleaned the battery holder and then had me test it several times while locking and unlocking. While I have no idea what a locksmith charges, I appreciated the way Nathan replied so promptly and quickly addressed my problem. Saving money is not number one when looking for good security. Then I paid him to fix the sliding glass doors. The owner also helped me with hurricane shutters that would not close. He explained that shaking them and moving slowly while holding the upper and lower part of the accordion shutter works best. The prices were reasonable and the value for service received was good.
