Believe it or not, this is the only OUAC in the entire Maritime. (I'm very surprised Halifax doesn't have one.) Having lived in other parts of Canada where I used to shop at OUAC on a regular basis (every season change), I was pleased to find it in St. John. Living in Halifax for the last 3 years I've been meaning to come here. However St. John isn't really enroute to anywhere we travel.
Early October we finally had a chance to drive by St. John. I only had an hour to shop before we had to head out to Fredericton. I wrote out all the items each kid needed beforehand.
My impression: very good size store, well stocked, especially in the younger baby section. Lots of Onesies and winter outfits. Friendly staff. The shoe section was a bit disorganized. Boots and shoes were mixed up in different bins. The toy section had way more toys than what the shelves could handle.
I did find their price a little higher than what I was used to in western Canada and Ontario, but still decent, especially considering their quality. One of the things I like about OUAC is they are picky when they buy clothes from people, hence, very good used quality.
I understand this kind of store depends largely on the communities and moms around to sell them their used stuff. However, I did had a hard time fining 12m cotton (not polyester) sleepers, and 3T-4T non-denim pants. I guess they were low on stock for those.
All in all, very happy with my visit and purchase. Now I just wish there were an OUAC in Halifax! read more
