I'm giving this place 2 stars because the prices and "deals" aren't that great. I receive their emails for deals and they will sound great at first but then underneath it has a list of what's NOT included. That store is so crowded with stuff but their deals are so restricted it's like they don't actually want to get rid of anything. The last time I went was when they had their fall and winter sale, they marked clothes with either pink, blue or white tags. Only the blues were included in the deal which was long sleeves, sweaters etc. Sooo as I'm trying to go through the very full and crammed racks of clothes, there were barely any blue tagged items and when there was, it wasn't even nice. I think they were trying to get rid of the uglier and more used clothing. Here's some advice, just throw them away or donate them to a thrift store. I was very disappointed, any time I found an item that was actually cute, it was priced way too high in my opinion. This is a used clothing store. Looking through the pants, they will have some that are $2 but then the next pair will be $10! Instead of doing the 70% below retail price, just have a set rate for pants, shirts etc. also, a pair of leggings that I bought for $4 had 3 holes in the right knee so clearly they don't look that closely at the clothes that come in. The sleepers as well aren't always in good shape. Some of them are piling so bad so I'm not sure why they accept those. I also drove 45 minutes to check out that deal because it sounded really good but in the end, I was very disappointed. I've only been there twice and I really don't see myself going again, unless they drastically change their prices. read more

I have tried many times to sell to them. With poor experiences every time. I had 2 newborn 3 piece outfits from England. $80 each. And they took them And offered me $8. Really are you kidding. I have brought toys that have never been used and my son is autistic and doesn't care for toys. And were offered less then 10% of the original price. I give up bringing things in unless I just need to unload it. The store itself is small and squishy. Hard to get around and not very organized. Prices are close to what you would pay for new. So all in all I think they rip off its customers and they people selling to them. Won't waste my time and I tell everyone I know not to bother unless you want to waste your time and money. I had high hopes when it first opened. But now I go to the twins and triplets garage sale twice a year and the child cycle sale twice a year. Better prices and better for selling too. read more

I have been a long-term customer of once upon a child. I generally have good things to say about my shopping and selling experiences at the store. When we go there to sell, the staff are friendly when they greet us and give us an accurate time to expect our buy to be completed. Sometimes we are disappointed that they don't buy more of our gently used clothing, but we have found that they give us a reason why they don't take some of the stuff. I do admit that when we shop there, it can be a bit overwhelming because there is so much stuff in each size, but the deals are great. We buy most of the clothes for our 2 children at this store, and figure we get it for about half of what we would spend to buy it new. There is always lots of selection and the staff are helpful. We will definitely keep shopping here! read more

Buying clothing at Once Upon a Child has always been good for us. I've never had a problem and have gotten some pretty nice clothes for a great price. On the other hand, selling clothes is a huge waste of time and I will chose to donate any day! So I heard that they are extremely picky about what they take and I had this in mind as I very carefully selected only our best used clothes. I made sure the clothing didn't have any hairs or fuzz on them and neatly folded the whole pile. The staff took approximately 45 minutes to go through the clothing and upon my return to the counter noticed all of my clothes lumped on top of the box. I was told the clothing smelt musty and they wouldn't take it. If this were true then I would fully understand BUT we don't keep our clothes in the basement (they're in an upstairs closet) and I had family and my husband smell the clothes and NO ONE smelt any form of mustiness. So my reasoning is that we use Eco friendly detergent that has no fragrance and therefore our clothing doesn't have that usual nauseating Tide fragrance that permeates most of the clothes at Once Upon A Child. So I wasted a whole morning sorting and close to an hour entertaining my three kids at the store just to have all of my clothes rejected. So.not.worth.it. What's ridiculous about this whole situation is that they are a USED clothing store! Save your time and donate to people who will truly appreciate your stuff. read more

Do not Go here. Prices for used and stained clothing from 3-6 dollars NOT worth your money. Swings and baby jumpers and bassinets , strollers are all priced at what a new one would go on sale for in the stores. Barely room to walk, let alone bring your baby in a stroller. Shelves are piled high with hundreds of toys all overpriced... So Hard to sort through the thousands of baby and toddler clothes, as the racks are so jam packed to the brim (price your inventory down and get rid of all this stuff please. This place is a Mom and Babies NIGHTMARE. Do not bring your babies to this store. To the owner of this store: please mark your inventory down from their bank-robbery prices so you don't have such a disgraceful MESS of a STORE. read more

I had an absolutely terrible experience here. I drove all the way to their Transcona location ( halfway across town for me.) with four bags of either new or gently used items. The staff informed me to come back in an hour and a half after they had appraised my items. We briefly browsed at the store and were not impressed; it was crowded and hard to navigate with a stroller, and the clothes seemed overpriced for used items. I noticed that several items were not in the greatest condition and many clearly looked used. I returned and the staff member was quite snooty and rude. She told me that my items should have been sorted in bins, not bags, and claimed most of my items were " stained or pilled, or "overly loved" which I know to be untrue, as some I had literally just taken the tags off or they were worn once. They had a litany of items they did not take, including bibs, socks, " holiday items " ( Reason given that they get mixed up with the other items, which made absolutely no sense to me.) None of this info is on the website, and the staff in the store either looked grim or acted very snobby and condescending. They gave me 7.68 for 3 or 4 items. One was a beautiful dress worn once. and originally retailed for 60.00! I was so shocked I took the money and left, but now wish I had taken all my items and let them keep their 7 bucks. When I retuned to my vehicle, it seems that the items in the bags I checked were still in the same places I left them. I have the feeling they appraised one or two items, then didn't bother with the rest. I am not recommending this store to anyone and will never return, which is unfortunate for this franchise as we buy a lot of children's clothing. I also plan to email their head office. All in all, I wasted time, money, and energy to drive across town for 7.00. Judging from many of the substandard items on their shelves, I don't think they should be so picky. I can get brand new items at other stores for the same price or less! I worked retail for several years, and can say that the customer service and atmosphere at this store was appalling. " never again" would be an understatement as to how I felt about my experience. I took my daughter's clothing to charity, where someone will truly appreciate them. read more

Dirty. Unorganized. Poorly managed. Aisles are messy, crowded, and way too tight for either a stroller, or even their own small shopping carts. Toy section is cluttered and disorganized. In short, this place looks like a tornado went through it, and the staff couldn't have cared less. Also, pieces seem to be overpriced for brand/quality. We have shopped at this franchise extensively in Ontario (and Florida) and I never expected to see this low quality of management. As the only used kids clothing store in town, they need to improve their game (or someone needs to open a competing shop, asap!) read more

Not impressed with their Ellice or Regent location. Having moved provinces, I was used to better quality from this franchise. These owners take in junky clothes (truly- some that are so worn out it should be thrown out!) and ask for double the price I was used to. The owners really have to rethink their strategy as their reputation in Wpg is not the best. read more

If you come here only bring brand new with tags right from the store is what they expect!! Every time I come here the staff are rude, snooty and act like they're to proud to be handling used clothing, like they're picking up a peice of garbage, YOU DONT HAVE TO WORK HERE YOU KNOW, you could be working at a place where they have marble heated floors, eating caviar for lunch and designer gowns to walk around in! ROTFL..... like who would hires people like this?! They should offer at least some experience in what they're retailing... they expect BRAND NEW CLOTHING for 10cents a peice it seems like. I recently had a baby shower, and had a bunch of brand new stuff I put away that my baby didn't fit, I removed the tags because I thought he would wear them at least once, but didn't, so I took them to this place, thought maybe I could sell these BRAND NEW baby clothes, bibs, onesie, sleepers, socks, receiving blankets, to buy sum thing for my baby, I had 4 grocery bags FULL of baby stuff, and I got offered 10$ for it! The lady was rude the entire time I was standing there with her, like I wasn't allowed to watch or talk to her while appraising the items, ITS NOT HARD, "they have to be stored in a plastic bin or we can't accept them but todaii I'll take a look because you "say" their brand new" Like she was doing me a favour. And then complaining about a smell, like they were dirty?! I told her "they haven't even been used more than 2 mins, I literally tried them on my baby and took them off", I guess she was saying my baby is smelly, which is really insulting and disrespectful. So when I tried to have a look around a lady followed me, litrially right beside me every where I went!, WAS I suppose to be stealing with my baby?!, when I asked her why she was following me she said it was "store policie", store policie for what? native women to be watched while shopping?.. I Will NEVER shop here again I took my bags laughed at their offer and left. I later offered them to a mother in need, WHO THANKED ME, which felt more awesome then a stupid discount from a rasist store!!! read more
