Bring a bottle of wine and a friend and start staining, taping, painting and stenciling!! Right behind Gators Dockside in Clermont, this location makes it easy to find. First let me explain that my local Hammer and Stain in Jupiter Fl, has a 5 star review from me. The…read moreJupiter studio is amazing and I have only had excellent experiences. I enjoy Hammer and Stain so much, and I attend classes so often, my mother in law thought a gift card for $300 would be a great birthday present for me. She googled Hammer and Stain gift card, and clicked the first link and made the purchase. Apparently it was for the Clermont studio rather than Jupiter, which was an honest mistake that anyone could have made. I tried to use the gift cards at my Jupiter studio and that is when I found out they must have been purchased for another location. In order to have the gift cards transferred I needed to get in touch with Clermont and Alexa to first confirm and then have the $300 transferred. I called the Clermont studio and also sent an email. Alexa called me back and I explained the situation. She said she would get back to me, but never did. In the meantime, my mother in law reached out to try and resolve the issue. Alexa was slow to respond, and was not very helpful. She gave my mother in the law the run around for a few days, told her she couldn't refund, couldn't transfer, and of course made her feel like a stupid person for her mistake. My mother in law contacted the corporate office twice with no response. Finally After threats of filing a claim with the bank, and attempting to transfer, Alexa said it would be easier to just refund the money, which she claimed she couldn't do initially. Now thanks to Amy at the Jupiter studio, I will be back to Hammer and Stain and I will continue to do projects. I am thankful that the studios are individually owned and that Alexa's dishonesty, and poor customer service is not an indicator of how other Hammer and Stain studios operate.

However my two star take away is from the fact that I went on my birthday and arrived between 1:30-2pm. Shortly after arriving and being told to pick our pottery (as many studios have different processes) we waited for further instructions but a party came in and we had to just wait around until they were taken care of(which I will get to why became a problem) Finally a different worker helped us out (she was lovely! Very sweet and bubbly. She had candy cane Christmas nails) So we began to paint, I saw others come in too. At around 3pm we're told they're closing early at 3:30 for a private event so we can wrap up our paint job or take it home and come back. We had been waiting to start because of another party which isn't our fault and took away from our time only to be kicked out early. My issues is 1. Why were we not told the moment we came in they were closing at 3:30 instead of 6pm that Sunday? Why was it not written on the chalk board outside? Seems like a way to just still make money because now people have started the pottery of course they have to come back and finish it and pay you. 2. We don't have family or friends here in FL. My. Family lives across the US, we only were able to go for my birthday because a friend happened to come to town that weekend and offered to watch our kids. So when will I be back to finish this piece of pottery? GOD KNOWS WHEN. We timed it perfectly for ourselves and frankly had we known they were closing in 2 hours or less we would have just left. Also I get that you're renting out for private parties but again not notifying others (even the people that came in probably 30 mins before you planned to close!) is annoying. It was my birthday too, the only thing I cared to do that day and I had to leave, no matter how I scheduled my day around that time frame and even though I wasn't finished. It just gives money hungry vibes to not notify people before allowing them to start.

I had not been to Sam's since they moved across the street a few years ago. As a customer I went for some colored pencils and the staff was extremely helpful in finding items for a gift. I was walked by a staff member to several areas of the store and items to choose from were placed in my hands while the staff member explained the features and made recommendations. The level of customer service and help is something you don't commonly see in retail stores these days. The store has a tranquil vibe which makes it fun to browse the many gift items. Their stock is unique in that they carry a breadth of items that are high quality at a range of prices. You can spend a lot of time here finding inspiration and treasures. They offer art classes and during the Christmas season they offered free make and take craft classes. They had a small cardboard 'house or cottage' setup inside the store with tables stocked with all the supplies you needed for that weeks's free project. This was not just for kids. My friend and I had fun making gift tags the day we were visiting the store. The store is beautiful inside and out. The beautiful murals that cover the outside walls echo the beauty and fun you will find inside the store. Since they are popular the parking lot can get pretty full.

They have a ton of options for designs so take time to look through them all. This is a franchise so I had a previous experience with one in California, making this my second time at this type of thing. I chose to do a welcome board for me family and our class included a free additional board - Choose Kindness. We arrived early and ate close by. I recommend parking close to the entry as you'll have your piece to carry out at the end. We arrived to the class on time and things kicked off. The instructors were clear with the process and stopped by each attendee to offer help. You'll choose the level of 'weathering' your board will have, stain color, and paint for the stencil. The biggest downer was all the sawdust and strong chemical smells from the stains and paint, but little they can do about that!! Come ready with a mask if you have allergies. Overall: A+ Get your DIY on and make a little something!! Great get together venue for pretty much any occasion.
