The one thing I liked about Big Lots was their prices and their ability to have odd ball and weird stuff. Now it seems they are competing with other stores. Their prices are higher than Walmart. They took out the arts and craft sections for kids. I think it was a better store when it was a Mish mosh of random stuff for less. Now it's just like any other store. The store is quite small, and is for the most part pretty clean. The store sells everything you need, besides furniture. I found so much stuff, you could get at any other store. Staff is a little bit on the edgier side, but they might not understand what is proper behavior, since the staff is mostly Muslim. At approximately 12:32 PM, I noticed a young security employee wearing a yellow jacket following and monitoring us while we were shopping. We paid for our items at self-checkout at approximately 12:42 PM. When we were leaving, the same security employee stopped us and asked to see our receipt. What bothered me the most was that I personally observed other customers leaving immediately before and after us who were not stopped or asked to show their receipts. This left me questioning why my spouse and I were specifically selected. I felt singled out, embarrassed, harassed, and discriminated against. I understand that stores have loss-prevention procedures, but those procedures should be applied fairly and consistently. I contacted Target Guest Relations afterward to report the incident. I was told that my complaint would be documented, but the representative did not ask me for important information such as the exact date and time of the incident, a description of the security employee, or other details, and I was not provided with a case/reference number. I hope Target takes this seriously, reviews the surveillance footage from approximately 12:30-12:45 PM, and determines why we were treated differently from other customers leaving the store.

The same guy asked if another customer needed help while he was looking at my books, then when the customer started to answer he proceeded to pick up the phone and ignore the customer. Overall, waste of my time and worker had the worst attitude. Will not be going back.
