Went in to have the guy look at my comic book collection and he was very unfriendly when I walked in. Overall was pretty rude and unpleasant to work with. The same guy asked if another customer needed help while he was looking at my books, then when the customer started to answer he proceeded to pick up the phone and ignore the customer. Overall, waste of my time and worker had the worst attitude. Will not be going back. read more

Main Street Comics & Toys is a small shop that shares it's building with a dance academy. Has some very limited parking on the side of the building, but the surrounding area has street parking. The shop makes the most of its space and is stacked from floor to ceiling. Everything is well organized, even the budget long boxes, which helps when finding items. Main Street has a good selection of budget long boxes, regular price long boxes, graphic novels, and Pop Vinyl's. Wall book and new pull comic selection was fair. This is simply one of the best small comic shops that you'll find. They make the most of what they have and it's absolutely worth a stop. read more

went maybe two weeks ago, and found the entirety of the 2008 Red Robin run here, for standard retail price, which has been out of print for years! the store has an amazing selection, has a whole room in the back of trades, they even have some omni selection. owner was so nice and friendly and was kind enough to support my crazy and let me purchase the entire collection haha. couldn't be happier w my purchases and i will for sure be coming back! read more

I go in for the toys/funko collections. From what I read this is the longest running comic store in the state. They look to have a great collection of comics. The staff is always very friendly. The shop is well lit and very clean. I always look forward to seeing the new funkos and the current display did not disappoint. The parking lot is small but this is a gem in a small town. Updated, I love this shop and the people who work there, they are friendly, reasonably priced and the shop is well organized and its easy to find what you're looking for and comfortable if you're just browsing. Mike the owner is very accommodating and it very fair to sellers when making offers to buy their books. (Often explaining how much they would be resold for an makes a reasonable offer based on that price). Mike and Jackie have excellent knowledge about Comics, Toys and Funco Pops and serious collectors shop there weekly because of them. I'm at a total loss for why there are some bad reviews here, Yes they have a sign that they are always buying, but you are best calling ahead and asking when the owner is in (which is almost all the days). As he is the one that will make the best offer and he really knows what sells well and doesn't. (Avoid Sundays and Mondays if you are there to sell your collection). Word to the wise, when selling a collection, it is always best to call ahead, see when the best time to visit is and see if they are interested in your collection. If they are, this is a great place to deal with as you won't get robbed. Naturally they are a business and need to stay profitable and need to buy at a rate that allows them to mark it up, but you aren't going to walk in with a rare comic that is worth $500 and walk out with 20 dollars, I've seen Mike buy and he is very honest. (Sometimes that means that he has to refuse to buy items that he can't sell, and other times people walk out with much more than expected. A reviewer complained about parking during a snow storm. My feeling is that the person with the car parking problem wasn't even dealing with the people who own the comic shop, probably from another business or an irate person who is a customer of the vacuum shop. Another reviewer said that they didn't feel comfortable there and I find this hard to fathom, I've always felt comfortable there and noticed that they treat their regular customers like family, often knowing about them, their jobs and families and remembering to ask them about things that they have shared about their lives (Changing Jobs, Children's health, Weddings, loss of family members, etc.). read more

I went their to buy a set of Pokémon cards. It retails for $39.99 everywhere else. This place was selling it for $70. Nearly double MSRP. This is a store. Not a reseller. When I inquired why they were above retail price the owner very rudely responded with "either buy it or don't." I could not believe how I as a customer was treated. I'm all for supporting small businesses, but if the business does not even attempt to support its local community and customers, then I don't feel so bad when they close down. This is greed to a new level. Charging customers double for a product in your store is extremely slimy. They just lost a customer. read more

This is my favorite comic book shop in NJ and Mike my favorite comic book dealer. He is awesome! Mike is very helpful if you are looking for a particular issue and his prices are very competitive. Additionally, he is a good person to sell your books to. I have done this a few times and he is very honest about prices. Sometimes you may encounter dealers who come off sleazy, but not Mike. Yet another in a long line of fine New Jersey comic shops. I was passing through and decided to give this highly rated shop a gander. I have to say, it was worth the visit. Old school comic shop through and through. The walls were packed with dollar bins that were likewise packed with great comics, all nicely organized alpha by title. And then, underneath those dollar bins.....quarter bins! You heard me. 25 cent comics! And lots of em! The shop is quaint and small, but packed with lots of great titles and bargains, along with the usual comic shop new title wall. This is a true comic shop and it reminded me of the shops of my youth. I found some great bargains in the short time I was in the shop, and I will definitely be back. New Jersey remains the Comic Book State (forget that "garden" nonsense). Milltown is fortunate to have a shop like this. I give this shop 5 Judo Chops of comic greatness. Check it out for sure. read more

Small place, well merchandised. They will buy if you have something worthwhile. I have managed to off load some book I know I won't read again and picked up some back issues I have missed. I like their punch card system on trade paperbacks, every $10 spent is a punch, once you hit $100 spent you get $20 off the next purchase. This is a better system than some other shops have requiring that you reserve 10 titles each month to Get 10% off! A good selection overall, I would recommend checking it out. read more

Spend hundred of dollars at this place over the years and couldn't believe how rude the owner was when i finally met him on my last visit. He watched me like a hawk when i was going through books. This is a great comic shop with a nice selection of Bronze Age comics as well as newer ones. Mike the owner is very fair with the pricing of comics and offers a variety of Trades at reduced prices. If you like collectibles there is a nice selection as well. Again Mike offers first class service if you want to order something he does not have in stock. Main Street is a special place that reminds me of the comic stores I would visit as a kid in the 80's. Unfortunately, for comic fans, there are not enough of these places still around read more

Great comic shop! Owner seems very helpful as he asked me multiple times if I needed help. I was just checking things out this time around and only picking up supplies such as bags and boards. He has a good selection of mostly newer stuff has a lot of back issues and some really good deals. He also has some collectables and toys as well. This is a very good store that's been in business under original management for 18+ years. It gets in all the comics being published and has a very good subscription service. Recent back issues can be re-ordered depending upon the publisher. To his credit, the owner runs the place lean and mean, keeping overhead low by maintaining a modest amount of back issues. Yeah, it means you cannot find EVERY back issue you'd ever want, but it does mean that the shop will be there for you year after year. read more

First time visiting this great little shop in Milltown. While I'm not a comic books fanatic, my 4-year-old is a bit obsessed with spiderman, so I brought him to get some comics. I went when they had a 50% off holiday sale and got a few comics for $1 a piece. They also sell toys. Very nice staff that gave my son a free spiderman poster. read more

I have been coming here ever since Mike opened, probably 15-20 years ago. My sister used to go to the old dance studio right next store and Mike was fine with me just flipping through his dollar bins for hours on end as a kid. I was happy to see he was still there after returning to the area years later. Now that I am older with a decent paying job, I have begun collecting some older books, primarily the ASM series. I was able to find some great Silver Age Spidey books at fairly reasonable prices here and he has a pretty nice selection of toys too. A few months ago I started taking my 6 year old son in every week so we can start collecting together. This is a nice little store and the owner and other employees are nice and patient with my son when he asks them questions or needs help. They have a great selection of back issues for $1 plus a really good set of boxes full of $.25 comics (great for starting a collection). I basically go here every week now. read more
