We were in the neighbourhood (tbh, for another place that said they were open and were not ) and saw that One Duke was open, had room, and we always wanted to try it so away we went. Lovely patio with shade (it was 30+) and we were fixing our table number and how everything works. You go to get a disposable menu, order at the window, and a delightful server comes to your table with your food. We had the oysters, and chicken wings (not pictured. Ate too fast). The wings were plump and juicy- mine were lightly dusted/battered so had a bit of a fried chicken feel, which I loved! I got dill flavour, and ranch dip. I've tired plenty of things from here and they all were delicious. My favourite is the oysters or the wings they got some great toppings for the oysters and great flavours for the wings. Everything else you'll get will also be good. Great drinks also. Servers are great and very kind and pleasing and the ambiance is of a bar. Got some spots with a couch and TVs all around to watch. Got some spots at the high chairs and table as well as the bar. Food comes out quickly and I was never disappointed! Can't wait to go back, crave those oysters almost everyday read more

This place has really hit rock bottom. My friends and I stopped in for some half price wings and quick beer. The service took over an hour to get 4 pounds of wings. The server felt bad that she made us wait so long that they gave us a free pound of wings. When the wings came out they were uncooked. We asked for the waiter to comp the uncooked wings and after making a call to the manager they stated that she couldn't comp our meals. I then asked her if she would eat the wings she served us and she flat out said no but was still going to charge us for them. She continued to let us know that the reason they're uncooked is because they're frozen which is a whole other can of worms. I know the wings were half price but I still wouldn't like to pay for salmonella poisoning. If I could give this place a zero star I would. I randomly chose this restaurant with 4 of my other colleagues as it's close to where we worked, and it surprised me! The food was pretty good and all of us were very satisfied. I ordered the fish burger with the duke salad. Both the quantity and quality were great! I liked it. Is this a pub? is this an Italian restaurant? We went for a friend's birthday & I was really expecting a pub... It was a pleasant surprise when I looked at the menu. They had a beat salad that big enough to share and I had the pizza as my main. Everyone seemed pleased with their selections. This restaurant was a very pleasant surprise. I have been living around the corner for about 4 months and I went today for the first time. The food was absolutely delicious! Please do yourself a favor an order the "Chicken Antojitos" I am definitely coming back for more of those. The sandwiches we ordered were really good too! The service was great! This place is hit or miss. one server is really nice, helpful, and patient. and did not smoke in fromt of customers. The rest were Rude. not helpful, and impatient. They also smoke and swear in front of guests. When a server is a pro they make the meal enjoyable. A rude or obnoxious server kind of ruins the whole experience. this place needs to be more consistant. - to bad because my first visit was great My second visit ~not so much. read more

Me and my girlfriend have been eating at One Duke for over 6 years now. We don't come often enough for them to recognize us as regulars but it is definitely on our short list of places we eat out at. Their smoke salmon club sandwich is delicious and so is the Ukranian dinner. I would also recommend their Bob Marley pizza which is definitely unique and is guaranteed to make you come back for more (it is on the spicy side though which may not be for everyone). Finally they offer both Delirium and Newcastle Browne Ale which are amazing beers although for different reasons. My only qualm is that the place feels a bit understaffed at times especially during patio seasons which results in long wait times. read more

I was just there tonight. The service was excellent. The setting very nice. The food was very good with a lot of selection. I had the "Polish Dinner", authentic and filling for a good price. My wife had the appetizer, Gnocchi, which she really enjoyed. Our friend had the Duke Burger which was made on site and very good as well. Stopped in for dinner and had the perch fish and chips special. Was not good. The fish was not properly prepared at all. The fillet WITH SKIN AND BONES was fully battered and deep fried as you would a boneless skinless fillet. I did not know this and ended up with a mouth full of fish; skin, bones and all. My last visit I had the ribs. The sauce was good but the ribs themselves weren't great, alot of cartilage and not many full rib bones . I doubt I'll be back. read more

We've been coming here for years and have always loved it. I believe they came under new ownership however and have changed some things on the menu. Usually a bit understaffed it seems, though servers that are there do their best. I've ordered the bob Marley pizza... a little too much cracked pepper on top. Fish tacos were very over cooked. I'd never heard of this place but a friend suggested we try it out for lunch since it was nice and close. We went at around noon on the Saturday of a long weekend, so weren't too surprised that it was quite empty. It filled up a bit more while we were there. The waitress was pleasant enough and we took a table on the patio which offered a fair bit of seating and plenty of welcomed shade. I ordered the bowl full of chili and my friend ordered the smoked salmon sandwich with side salad. Our food came in good time, and although the chili wasn't exactly how I prefer it (slightly too sweet) it was a large bowl (I couldn't even finish half), served with a substantial amount of nachos - it also had some kick to it and was quite well done. My friend thoroughly enjoyed her sandwich, which I sampled and even though I'm not a salmon fan I enjoyed it with the combination of cream cheese and fresh cucumbers. I saw several other people with the smoked salmon sandwiches so it could be a popular menu item at One Duke. Average prices, good service, quality food - I look forward to trying it again. read more
