Because of her early childhood experiences, she struggled with balance, had slower processing, and had a difficult time following directions. Naturally, we were nervous about how she would adjust. Master Jazmine immediately made us feel comfortable. She has such a special gift for working with young children, and every instructor we met was incredibly patient, encouraging, and caring. It also helped that my sister and brother-in-law knew Master Jazmine, which gave us even more confidence in choosing Team Kwon. Over time, we watched her grow in ways we never expected. Her balance improved, she became more confident, learned discipline, and picked up so many taekwondo skills. The instructors celebrated her progress every step of the way, and they truly became like family to us. We were also so grateful for their summer camp. It was affordable, well organized, and filled with different activities every day, so the kids were always engaged and having fun. Most importantly, we always felt completely safe leaving her in their care for the entire day. Knowing she was in a loving, structured environment gave us incredible peace of mind. I was bummed bc their original location was literally 2 mins from our house but we decided to check them out anyway. I called and spoke with Master Jo. I told him we had 3 boys (friends) that were interested in trying. He told me about the amazing deal they were having in May ($50 for the month or 8 classes) The 3 boys started together and have been having a blast since. In the beginning, it's always overwhelming especially for 5 yr olds to walk in, as everyone else seems to know what they're doing and everyone is speaking Korean! But Master Lee and Master Jo ensured that ALL the new members had some focus time, felt welcomed, felt supported, and encouraged. About midway through our trial month the kids tested for their white belts, and the official membership was discussed. This part of the process is a bit strange -- They don't advertise their membership prices/ options. Only master Lee discusses this with you in his office. You can't write anything down or take a picture. Why that is? I don't know. But the pricing is very reasonable compared to other TKD places and karate places we had spoken to previously. You have the option to choose between 2 classes a week or 3. We started off with 2 but ended up switching to 3 because I wanted my kid to have more practice and retention esp in the beginning. Not only are they teaching TKD basics, there's so many more principals that are taught. Listening, respect, focus, and confidence. Discipline of course. The studio/ dojo itself is very minimal. It's not a big fancy place. It's in a strip mall that I normally wouldn't go to, but none of that really matters bc of the actual teachings and learnings. Now, we've also witnessed Master Lee disciplining some of his more senior students - and I'm not sure if I agree with the style in which he does that. I'm not to judge bc maybe that works, that's why he has so many great students - but I do wish that he didn't do it in front of the younger kids? It's weird. He equally belittles the older students (like his protoge's) but he's so encouraging and supportive of the students too. lol it's interesting to witness but just something to note. Oh yes the only real concern I would flag is that -- I wish they would CLEAN THE DAMN MATS. Our kid leaves with black feet every time and it's gross esp when they do stretches and puts their face down on it (I've literally told my kid to never ever put his face on it) Anyways we love it here!

He made jokes, played their favorite songs and overall had them laughing and learning! My son was especially excited to have gotten to chop a board while at the party - it was a hit with all the kids. The party host brought different catered foods in and they do have a restroom on site, but we didn't use it. The first class my daughter was feeling a little shy and Master Thomas and Master Jason did such a good job of giving her space but also encouraging her to join. They let me come and sit on the mat until she felt comfortable. Master Jason was so engaging during class and really helped bring my daughter out of her shell. Each class has been very well organized with clear instruction and individual attention. The instructors do a great job at helping to keep the kids attention and focus while also making the class fun and silly at times. The entire studio is very clean including the bathrooms, which is always a plus. The seating are for family members to watch is nice and the studio has great AC for those hot summer days. My daughter has really enjoyed herself! We signed up for twice weekly classes and are very happy to be joining Team Kwon!
