I am not really sure what all the fuss is about One Paseo. All of the talk about being a veritable playground for dazzling "fashionistas" and whatever. I was there for the first time this weekend to have dinner at Nick's, and I walked around the shopping area before dinner. What I found was a rather haphazard collection of low-rise putty-colored tin-walled huts with black trim, housing various chain stores. The people milling about were an everyday lot, some accompanied by screaming children. I like the way the various open spaces have a name designation---"Koi Pond", "Fire Pit", etc. One of the open spaces featured an area of artificial turf (ugh!) upon which people sat awkwardly. There were the ubiquitous white-curtained cabanas to please the millennials' sense of style. The planting in the development is surprisingly sparse, but there are small olive trees dotted here and there which help ease the hardscape overload. Parking was not as horrific as I had anticipated. Note there is a small "secret" open parking lot behind Buildings 3 and 4 if you get lucky to snag a space. As a note of caution on your visit to One Paseo, an odd pickpocket attempt on me was disconcerting. Specifically, I was standing at the end of an empty eight-foot long picnic table in front of Nick's, talking on the phone to my friend who had just arrived in the parking lot, giving him directions to find me and the restaurant. I carry a cross-body bag and it was positioned over my stomach as I talked on the phone. One small pocket where I keep my keys was unzipped. Suddenly, an older man wearing a Gucci baseball cap using a walker [one of those wheeled grocery shopping cart type---not so much the usual medical walker you see around] pushed right against me with his hands on my bag saying "I have to sit down". His mask was down, and when he spoke those words, his face was inches from mine and his hands were on my bag. I immediately jumped back and shouted "What are you doing?" He had not been "collapsing" when he ran into me saying he had to sit down, and the entire eight foot long bench was open for his use. It seemed clear he was targeting distracted people on telephones. I observed him sit down at the bench for a moment and then get up and weave his way back into the crowd, in search of his next distracted victim. read more

Caught the "professional thief" on my car's rear dashcam. He's going around breaking into cars. He's wearing all black, a black mask, and a black backpack. Young, hispanic looking, male. Cute romantic place to go with your date especially during the night time! They have lots of lights hanging around the trees! I love going to their cute stores and browsing them. They have a lot of hand sanitizers and sinks to wash your hands safely. They also have someone wiping down all the tables at night time, That was nice to see. Thank you for keeping everyone safe. Everything outdoors was social distanced as best as possible, but the people weren't utilizing social distancing outside at some parts of the restaurant areas. However the sit down areas outside were spaces apart as much as possible and kept very clean. read more

Our friends who live in the area introduced us to this place. It's a neat area with some decent restaurants and dessert places (Shake Shack, North Italia, Sugarfin, and so on) along with some cool shops that feature local and popular clothing and knick knacks. I had so high expectations from One Paseo when I moved back to SD this past June. I had never been before and was expecting a new UTC close to Del Mar. I think some friend took me there for a coffee before but I had the impression the shopping center was very big, but once I started going regularly I felt the place is lacking. Parking is an issue as many people have stated. Also, restaurants are a hit or miss, with a blend of low to medium end. Nothing spectacular. Stores wise it not awesome either, although there is a Sephora and other indie cosmetic and boutiques that I like, there is not much to remember. I like the landscape, the design, the art in the walls. Aesthetically pleasant, yet lacking character. read more

A great place to grab lunch or dinner with friends! Love the outdoor spaces. Shops include Lululemon, Fjallraven, and some boutique shops. There's not much to do aside from eating here. Easy to find parking in the garage. I could see it as a cute lunch date spot. read more

So grateful to have outdoor shopping areas during these times. When indoor malls have all but shut down due to Covid, this outdoor plaza is a respite! So many eateries & shops. We just came to take a stroll & even listen to some live music on a Saturday night. Parking has never been an issue. There's an employee with a cart that walks around the plaza with a cart that has masks & sanitizer & he wipes down surfaces. They're doing a great job here. I came here many times before the Yelp 15th birthday party, specifically for Sephora, Salt and Straw, and Philz Coffee across the way. However, the Yelp 15th birthday party really made me realized how cool the other places are and I got to see how much this place has improved and is still building and growing. It's a great plaza with really unique shops, like the Whiskey and Leather shop. I plan to come here much more often now and so glad to see that they're giving this place a really nice face lift. read more

I really like this place, I'd describe it as a boutique mall ... I'd del mar, UTC and the nice area of Poway had a baby, you'd have one Paseo. It is a great little place top spend a beautiful morning or evening in San Diego AND it has many of the beloved shops from Little Italy like Parakeet , Pigment and Salt and Straw... with decent parking... although not perfect because parking can run out, but they do have valet service. Love the restaurants and the general design of the stores, but parking is a huge problem, often throughout the day. On Thursday at 6, we came for dinner and the garage sign said 2nd and 1st floor full, but 27 spaces available on the 3rd. As we drove up to the 3rd, many cars were passing us coming down. That's because there were no spaces on the third floor. The sign was wrong. We finally found a space by following a pedestrian to his car, but we were late for our reservations. The couple meeting with us were also late by another half hour for the same reason. They had to park across the street at the other shopping center. Our solution is to not go back until they add to the parking capacity. Frankly, no restaurant is worth putting up with this idiocy. Not a way to begin a relaxing night out. read more

I lived in Carmel Valley for years up until recently but I was aware of this place for years before it actually got done. It is definitely not what I expected. The Shopping: Although it has a couple cute stores the actually shopping attraction is not there. I would not drive up to Carmel Valley just to shop there. Sorry CARMEL VALLYans you still have to drive to UTC or Fashion Valley for some decent shopping. Aesthetically: The modern farmhouse look is cute, I don't know if it will still be cute in a few years but still cute. The food: This is where they earned some stars. A few good eateries were added to the area which is great but not enough for us foodies. The traffic: I know this was the #1 issue with the locals and unfortunately. It's going to be bad. The parking structure is meh. Overall: I think this place was basically built for the apartments. The stores were just added for more income revenue. I wish luck to all the store owners. I know there are a few local small shops who I would hate to be affected negatively. I will not be a frequent customer. It just doesn't make sense for me to drive there for shopping or eating and the highlands shopping center is GREAT on its own. They are putting so much effort into social media marketing and so on but unfortunately the made it seem as if it was going to compare to The Grove in L.A. and I just don't see it read more

so far ...ok.... although we were promised a place to hang with tons of shops and restaurants...98% of One Paseo seems like it's going to be offices and residences...BOO!!! more crowds and more traffic in our neighborhood. That being said...it was inevitable. So far only a few places have opened up and i'm pretty happy with the additions. Butchery really being on top of all the others. Hopefully the future openings will be as good or better (i can't imagine they will be!). There isn't enough reason to hang out here too long right now...hopefully that will change. I understand One Paseo is only partially open, but given that I am a long time resident of this area (more than 30 years), I'm very comfortable giving the 2 starts. While I was NEVER one of those who objected to the construction of One Paseo, I am very disappointed with it thus far. Okay, for starters.. the parking structure. While maybe aesthetically pleasing with the sails on the top to mimic the convention center downtown... they should have put up solar panels. Speaking of aesthetics, I agree with the other person who described some of the buildings as looking like barns! Right across the street is Searsucker. I'm not a fan of that restaurant, but it's full of windows and a very pleasing looking building. Speaking of across the street. I know the construction at One Paseo isn't finished (actually, far from it) but I sincerely hope they have plans to build a foot bridge going from that side over to the Del Mar Highlands shopping center just like the foot bridge on Del Mar Heights going from the Signature Point Apartments to the Del Mar Highlands shopping center. I realize you want to keep the business all at One Paseo, but that isn't reality. And with all the apartments/condos being built at One Paseo, the pedestrian traffic going across El Camino Real is going to be a nightmare. Let's talk roads. Again, having lived up in here for 3 decades, the roads, specifically El Camino Real south of Del Mar Heights all the way to High Bluff Drive has been trashed over the past few years the construction has been going on creating massive pot holes. I feel like it's some sort of video game when driving down El Camino Real trying to avoid all the potholes swerving from lane to lane. Clearly, One Paseo is all about the $$$$ and doesn't care about the people who live in the area. And don't tell me about how El Camino Real will be re-paved after the construction is finished. You need to resurface the roads NOW, and then again after the construction is finished. This review is based upon living next to this construction nightmare for years and still dealing with it. No, I'm not a fan and time will tell if they will step up and do the right thing and fix the roads and hopefully there are plans for a foot bridge going across El Camino Real. If not, at least we still have Del Mar Highlands Shopping Center which has been here for decades and even through their upgrades, has always been accessible and provides just about anything someone could want or need. read more

I came by here this week to take a break during a long day trip that involved a lot of driving. This was a great place to unwind. It's really pleasant and the environment is calm and peaceful, while being fun at the same time. There are some excellent restaurants at this little outdoor shopping mall, and I will have to come back another time to try a few more. It's very clean, well maintained, and there is a big free parking garage. Would be a great place to meet a friend for lunch and shopping. The stores are more high-end, boutique-style places, so on the expensive side, but great for checking things out and maybe splurging on something special! read more

We came by on a Saturday to see what was to be seen. Still a lot of coming soon signs. But I really like the feel and the flow of the mall. The open spaces and areas were really nice and planes out. We got some cupcakes and coffee, and listened to the amazing live music they had in the courtyard. It seemed very dog friendly, we saw lots of four legged friends walking around on leashes. I am excited to see a Sephora open up. I am looking forward to the other stores that are pending too. We stopped into Blue Bottle, Salt and Straw, SusieCakes, they also have a ShakeShack, Tender Greens. For shopping they have Whisky and Leather, Soul Cycle and Urban Beach House (which reminds me of some of the shops in downtown Del Mar or any beachy down town). The parking structure is still working out the bugs. It's a four-star as I feel it's not realllly open yet. It felt 50% open with lots of "coming soon". I am eager to visit again when all the shops are open. I really like when I have seen so far tho :) read more

I come to One Paseo at least twice a week. It's a cute hangout spot with lots of food and good drinks. The Butchery- its a butcher shop with many cheeses and wine. It's my Aunts favorite store and we always have to grab a charcuterie plate to go. Sweetfin- Cali style poke with perfectly cooked bamboo rice, fresh pacific fish and many toppings to choose from. Shake Shack- bomb burger joint with New York prices. It's was more than $15 for a meal. I love it but my bank account don't. Tendergreens- you can never go wrong with a plate from Tendergreens! Refreshing, comforting and satisfying. After eating here, I feel like I have my life together. Susie Cakes- baked by some badass Rosie the Riverter angels. I love cupcakes and birthday cakes here. Drybar- can I live here and wake up to a hair wash everyday, please? I love the on the rocks hair mask, the scalp massage and all the wonderful smells from the products. I love the variety of dining options, including some of my favorites like Blue Bottle Coffee, Salt & Straw, North Italia, Shake Shack, Tender Greens, etc. If you can't find something that suits your palate, you can easily hop across the street to Del Mar Highlands where there's several more comparable dining options and some more upscale restaurants. Amazing spot with incredible shops! I love this place! I'm excited to get my nails done at CürBAR and I've been looking forward to checking out the cute children's retail and haircut shop Nathan West. I tried SusieCakes for the first time. I bought some cupcakes and they were amazing. They strike the perfect balance between decadent and light. There was a kind employee who gifted me a free cupcake when I couldn't decided between two cupcake flavors. So sweet! Urban Beach House has the cutest wardrobe collection and everything they sell is super cute. I took a SoulCycle class and it was a fun experience. The staff was super nice and helpful. My only issue with the class was the music. Only one genre of music was playing. It would be nice if the classes played some hip hop like Drake. That would make the classes super fun and would assist in accommodating everyone's musical tastes. Even better, if they featured a Drake only spin class I would sign up so hard haha. Anyways, this shopping center has everything you need from kid's haircut and retail shop Nathan West, to a mani/pedi store Curbar, SoulCycle, Salt & Straw, SusieCakes, Urban Beach House, Shake Shack, Joe & the Juice, etc etc. All my favorite spots in a nice shopping center. This will make a nice one-stop shop for me and I could not be more thrilled. read more

I have been here a few times and have always enjoyed my surroundings and have been successful in my trips. The location is great because there are some other shopping plazas around so you can always find what you need and want. Parking is easy as there is a parking garage and I have never had an issue finding a spot in it. There is a good variety of stores and restaurants. You can have simple meals, fancy meals, ice cream, or cookies and cakes here. You can go to a gift shop or you can go to a boutique for some shopping. The variety is perfect because you can get what you want or need but you aren't overwhelmed with options. The surrounding areas outside of the shops are nice. There are plenty of seated areas as well some open spaces and the walkways are all quite spacious. Overall, I have always had great experiences here and although I'm not in the area too often, I don't mind coming here to shop at all. read more

Don't get your jewelry from Marrow! While the actual quality of the jewelry is great, I wish I'd have gone with a different jeweler for my heirloom diamond engagement re-work. :/ The experience was nothing like I'd hoped for and I'm so sad and disappointed. :( My husband and I traveled to San Diego from San Francisco for a fancy Marrow appointment and I was so excited! I'd followed them on Instagram for YEARS and loved everything they did. Turns out, my "custom design" appointment was actually just a retail sales person (not a designer) that presented me with Marrow's existing settings. I had to use the silver ones for my try on because the gold set was in use; and once I was able to get the gold set, not all the settings were there. My appointment was way too short, very impersonal (literally nothing custom about it), and I didn't even see all of Marrow's settings; because again, some of them were in use during my appointment. Also, note that they use two-carat stones in the showroom rings, so of course they look great during try on lol. Anyway, I decided on the Camille setting in the store, and once they sent my CAD for approval, I realized my particular diamond (one carat) looked too small for the setting. In an attempt to gain more finger coverage, I made a suggestion to add side stones. They took my suggestion VERY literally (again, where is the fun "Marrow custom" design process here?) and added the side stones to the CAD for my approval. I didn't feel as though I could make any more edits at that point because they charge $250 PER CAD (!!!) for revisions - even super minor - and I was already in too deep $$$ with the deposit and whatnot. Long story short, the final design looked okay in the CAD and I approved it with some faith. But once I got my ring IRL, the design looked super disjointed. I contacted them to let them know it wasn't quite what I'd expected, and asked if they'd be willing to give me some sort of discount for a remake; I just wanted to see if they could lower the basket and perhaps remove the side stones completely or move them closer to the center stone to remove the awkward space between the side and center stones. They denied my revision request and wanted FULL PRICE to start over with the process like I was a brand new customer. I couldn't believe it, as I'd already purchased the setting, the gold, and the side stones. :( All in all a terrible taste in my mouth. Unfortunately I will be getting my wedding set redone in a few years by an actual custom jewelry designer. Do yourself a favor and make sure your jeweler at the very LEAST has a customer satisfaction guarantee. So so so disappointed. read more

I finally got the opportunity to check out this "much talked" shopping center and it's not even fully open yet. The mall is less than 10 minutes away so I really have no excuse not to check it out. I love how it's designed - definitely meant for the social media influencer. Super cute shops, walls with cute sayings, and ample parking (for now). I look forward to all the other stores opening up, like Sephora and The Butchery. The place already has lots of options for everyone, especially those of us with kids! There's a cute little playground, made of a giant tree trunk for the kids to climb on. And I'm loving all the boutiques with cute clothes and accessories. If you live in the area, make a day out of coming to One Paseo. Between brunch, ice cream, playground and live entertainment, you can totally get lost in everything there is to see and do. read more

On a holiday Sunday morning Veterans Day weekend- One Paseo management chose to close the entire garage for pressure washing ! Several small businesses ( coffee, breakfast etc) and other retailers were never notified. They all suffered ! Management obviously out of touch! read more

My personal favorite places to visit during a San Diego stay. The closest LA has is the Grove or Americana but honestly I enjoy that Paseo has open seating in the common areas so people can just chill out. The shop selection is much better here or at least I can find something more appealing. I wish we had something like this up in LA read more

People get so pissed about the parking structure here, but I've honestly never had a problem. Perhaps I've never been on a busy day, but I still think 1-starring a place because you can't find parking is really lame. 1-star One Paseo for it's lack of local businesses or the non-existent public restroom, but parking?? C'mon. At the end of the day it's filled with some pretty epic eating and shopping. Not only that, but you can bring your dog just about anywhere inside this complex. That's gotta count for at least a star or two. Even if you are having road rage against a Del Mar mom who parked in two spaces. read more

My wife and I recently decided to move to SD and purchased a home in Carmel Valley in part due to the appeal of this shopping center and the development happening across the street at highlands town center. It was critical to my wife to have solid food options within walking-ish distance, and the places we've tried here have been pretty solid. What we've liked so far: 1) North Italia - altogether quite tasty. We really enjoyed the salad and garlic bread! 2) International Smokehouse - not as good as the SF one but the ribs were a highlight. 3) Salt & Straw - my wife's favorite ice cream place, so enough said. 4) Blue Bottle Coffee - I'm usually basic enough just to go with Starbucks, but I appreciate the higher end coffee once in a while. 5) Cava - the Mediterranean food here is decent and was super convenient and quick. 6) Parakeet Cafe - we got breakfast here and it wasn't bad since we wanted something light and healthy. 7) Shake Shack - we've enjoyed this chain since trying it years ago in New York so we appreciate the convenient expansion. Altogether, the food is solid. It's not going to be an epicenter of amazing unique food - these are all chains - but they are reliable options when we don't want to have to drive to North Park and Little Italy. In general, we like the clean and bright aesthetic of the center and appreciate that it's not the ubiquitous beige strip mall look. Parking has yet to be an issue for us for the 5 or 6 times we've visited, so we'll see how this pans out over time! read more

One Paseo is a lovely new outside mall with some great and much needed dining additions to Carmel Valley. My personal new favorite is North Italia. I am a little concerned about what's going to happen to the traffic when more stores pop up, the apartments all get rented and the offices all get filled, because it seems like they are cramming a massive amount of people into very limited space. Already the parking lot is always full. We will just have to wait and see! read more

They have Ace Parking handing out frivolous parking tickets. I was parked less than the time allotted for & come back to a warning ticket that stated that my auto info has been captured & if there's another violation I'd be issued a ticket. I'd understand if I had actually violated anything! This is 100% a deterrent to shop here. read more

One Paseo's shops and restaurants are a great addition to the community! The good: I love the fact you can grab coffee, lunch, shop and work out at one of their boutique studios. It's also extremely dog friendly which is a huge plus! My favorite places are Parakeet Cafe, Sweetfin, Cava, Salt and Straw, Bodyrok, Mizukiyama Sushi and Sephora. The bad: I go pretty frequently but why the 3 stars you ask? Parking in the garage has become a nightmare during peak lunch and dinner hours. Plan accordingly if you don't want to be late to your date! A construction worker told me they will have another garage but I believe that's only for the new office buildings. I hope they accommodate some of the parking for the shops as well. Fingers crossed! Also there is a constant sewage smell near Soul Cycle and Bowery which I hope they address soon. read more

My car was hit on the second level of the parking structure on Sunday, May 12. Parking spots are extremely small. Someone missed the mark when space planning. I called and emailed One Paseo numerous times asking for someone to call to help me with security camera detail. Finally got a return call from security man who told me they don't have cameras installed over the premises. What if a serious crime occurred? We are in the mecca of tech companies. Perhaps One Paseo can contact an innovator in the camera and sensors space to make their properties more technologically advanced and safe. I have such a negative taste in my mouth that I will not be returning. I will head to San Francisco for my Blue Bottle and Joe the Juice or better yet, patronize my favorite local coffee bar, Bay Park Coffee. Easier and safer to shop at South Coast Plaza. And not to be forgotten. Who ever the dishonest and incapable driver was who hit me and left....I hope you get it in spades. Cost to repair my bumper and rear quarter panel is $1,800. read more

I have this love hate relationship with One Paseo. Once it was decided that they would build this massive shopping and living environment in Carmel Valley, I just hoped that they would build something special. Now that construction is almost done and the apartments will soon start getting their residents, I am really disappointed in what we have been presented. While there are certainly some very nice restaurants, all of therm are priced really high. It is not an area where our communities kids can hang out - as the most affordable restaurant is Shake Shack (which is by no means cheap). But none of the stores make sense. Was it a concerted effort to seek out stores that all decided to charge an arm and a leg for everything? A jewelry store that has nothing classed as an affordable gift for a friend? Within a few months, we will see a superb new food court open above Jimbos - just across the street - and there will be a true battle for our communities dollars. So will not be betting on One Paseo winning. read more

Who in city council approved this project? Who got paid off? In order to rebuild my little residential deck I was required to install footings that would support a high rise. But the Irvine Co got permitted to build a parking structure that doesn't have enough spaces to accommodate even a half open shopping center at peak times. This is bad! And we all are impotent to right this wrong. The center itself is unattractive & a blight on my neighborhood in which I've lived for 31 years. The traffic will ultimately be a worse nightmare than already exists. On a positive note the Butchery serves delicious food. read more

Meh... Yeah I live in the area. Yeah I was opposed to it because they are building it without improving the infrastructure around it. SD city council moved forward on it by looking at the money and not listening to anyone who lives in the area. The traffic is already bad on Del Mar Heights. From the looks of things when the 6-7 story apartments open its going to be an absolute nightmare. I can't even imagine how the few grocery stores in the area will be able to handle it. Ok that being said - I've had a chance to walk around, I tried to have an open mind... It misses the mark. It feels numb. No soul. No real draw. No incentive. The parking garage is a total clusterfk. Its too narrow and tight. I parked on the 3rd floor and it took me 15 minutes to get out at lunchtime. Some of these businesses are going to suffer and I feel sorry for them.
