Honestly, I had the wrong donation center when I walked in. The person behind the counter was…read moreabrupt, snide, and rude. While trying to figure out what app I had or how I went wrong, she informed me they stopped taking new donors (around 10:30am) and I would have to come back tomorrow. One of the other workers popped his head around the wall after hearing about the app (CSL) and let me know that the center was over on S. Monroe not too far away and that was probably where I meant to be. I thanked him and started to head for the door. Ms. Receptionist-with-attitude responded by telling me that I needed to head over there and try to figure out my appointments and where they were. I'm glad there's another donation center as the people that work at this one (excluding the young man that ACTUALLY helped) seem to just want people in and out and have no idea how to talk to people, lost or otherwise. Here's hoping the wonderful young man finds a better class of people to work around and the snide counter woman has the day she deserves.

Things have improved greatly at this center over the last year. The customer service and…read moreorganization have both improved greatly. It is convenient that they offer the opportunity to complete the questionnaire on the donor hub app before arriving. When you arrive you only have the scan the QR code from your phone and you are checked in. The donor seating has been organized so much better. You no longer have to wait in long line of people to donate. The monetary incentive is great especially for new donors and when they offer monthly promotions. The only thing I think should be changed is to have someone sitting at the front desk to answer phone calls and assist new donors. A recommendation for donors is to drink a lot of water the day before and the day of donating.

Three attempts to become a donor and now he is no longer interested! First attempt was when he showed up Tuesday but they turned him away because they said he had to have an appointment. The center hardly had any donors in there. Well we just went ahead with the appointment but this time when my friend showed up yesterday around 5:30 pm they never bothered to call him saying they had to reschedule. However the receptionist suggested he call today on his lunch break. Totally inept! They never bothered to answer the phone while he persisted for 15 minutes. It's not about helping patients or the community it's about collecting a check. You know what three strikes means.

They offered to provide housing, but my younger sister had already invited us to stay with them. They also gave each of us a Red Cross backpack with hygiene supplies like a comb, razor, toothbrush and toothpaste, etc. You have no idea ‍ the value of that backpack until you have NOTHING, and it's so precious to you. The Red Cross provides a service that is priceless. I can't say enough good things about them!!!
