Just started seeing Dr. Ong-- my insurance providers changed and the dentist I had been seeing was no longer covered. Have only been there twice so far-- once for my initial visit/meet & greet/x-rays and again because I needed fillings. The office itself is very small and a little sketchy looking from the outside, but inside it's tastefully decorated and clean, albeit a bit small. Both the receptionist and appointment scheduler were very friendly. During my first visit, I met with Dr. Ong, or Dr. John as he introduces himself. He's an incredibly soft-spoken man but seems genuinely interested in his patients. We chatted about what he and the hygienist found and he walked me through it and showed me pictures and x-rays. When I returned for fillings, I met with the same hygienist and Dr. John-- both were quick and professional and continually asked about my comfort during the process. My biggest complaint is that he's SO soft spoken it's difficult to figure out when he's talking to you or the hygienist-- it made me shift to look at him to see if he was trying to communicate to me or not and probably made his job more difficult because of my constant movement. Maybe they need flashcards or something? All in all, it was as a good an experience as one can have at a dentist. I go back in 2 weeks for my regular 6 month cleaning. read more

Had my initial visit and met with Dr Ong to do oral exam/x-rays and talk about what options I have for my dental/aesthetic concerns. First impression of building is that it is tiny. They have made the very best with the space, though. The waiting area is clean, small but not cramped. Front staff is friendly, pleasant and professional. Also patient! Patient rooms are more spacious then I have experience in the past and I see why they used this layout. You feel comfortable in the chair and not crowded with dentist plus staff in the room with you. Major plus for: Staff Equipment appears new and most up-to-date. Detailed explanation of planned procedure with itemized estimate BEFORE any treatment. Dr Ong was the most relaxing and straightforward dentist I have ever spoken with. His bedside, er chairside? manner is great. My husband and I have found our new dentist! read more

Dr. Ong is my new dentist that I began seeing from the beginning of this year. The staff is very friendly and his wife Michelle who is the office manager has exceptional customer service skills. It is quite clear that their main goal is to satisfy the patient needs and together they make the perfect team. I began with the initial consultation to do x-rays and determined the type of cleaning that I would need. I had a deep cleaning that they accommodated into 2 visits to ensure that I was comfortable throughout the process. It was quite uncomfortable since it was over 5 years since my last cleaning, and it was a deep cleaning however the hygienist made sure that I was as comfortable as possible. I then followed up with a regular cleaning a month later which was a breeze. The following visit was to do a crown on my back molar and unfortunately Dr. Ong was not able to complete the crown but a build up. The reason was because I had completed a root canal many years ago, and my top tooth had shifted down which did not leave enough room for the crown. Dr. Ong advised that he recommended not to proceed with the crown as it was not beneficial for me since it was not a full tooth. We then spoke about my other options that I had so I decided to proceed with Invisalign to make the appropriate movements in my mouth. Dr. Ong then proceeded to build my treatment plan around Invisalign and was quite clear of what could be accomplished and what was not possible from the treatment plan. One of the things that I most respect about this office is their integrity and honesty of what can be done and what cannot be done. This office was recommended by my roommate who is quite satisfied with the services he received and that they do not try to sell you anything that is not needed. I am a young professional that wants to have the best smile aesthetically as possible as I am a people leader. The main reason why I decided to invest money into my smile is because I feel comfortable with the services I have received from this office. I have a lot more work to complete to my smile, but I am confident that I am going to be 100% satisfied with the outcome. The building from the outside may look very small but inside it is very pleasant, and the experience I have had has been the best out of any doctor or dentist I have been to since living in Florida. If you want a dentist that has your best interest, and is honest I highly recommend him. He is soft spoken but is able to communicate affectively and simplify the terminology for you to understand the treatment plan. Michelle his wife is able to as well explain the process if you're not quite clear with some of the terminology. I am quite demanding when it comes to my expectations and frankly frugal when it comes to spending money. I have a very demanding schedule however they are always able to accommodate an appointment for me. 5 stars from me! read more

A visit to the the dentist can inspire feelings of fear.. But Dr. Ong was great. He clearly cares about the comfort of his clients and his staff is both professional and attentive. I will be recommending this office to anyone I hear in need of a great dentist. read more

I hate to write a negative review, but I used yelp to find this business, so I figure I'd leave this warning to others doing the same. I visited this office three times and each time I was forced to wait an excessive amount of time to see the doctor or the hygienist. Even when I was finally able to see someone, the experience was not pleasant. On the first visit, despite my request that they do the x-rays, cleaning, and dentist checkup on one visit (to minimize time off from work), they made me come back for the cleaning on a separate day. On the third visit, after waiting a long time and despite repeated promises that they'd get to me in a few minutes, they finally admitted that they were understaffed and that I'd have to reschedule. As a professional, I would never do this to one of my clients, so I find it unacceptable that Transcend saw it fit to waste my time like this after I took off work. Even setting aside their horrible time management, I did not enjoy Dr. Ong's bedside manner, and the cleaning with the hygienist was very uncomfortable and, frankly, painful. Dr Ong advised that I had multiple cavities that needed to be filled and a crown that needed to be done. I found this suspicious since my prior dentist had, just three month's earlier, given me a clean inspection, so I went for a second opinion. Sure, enough, the other dentist advised that I had no cavities and did not need a crown. Finally, the space is cramped, and the inside could use a coat of paint and a sweeping. Great initial visit. Everyone here is very pleasant. They don't try to pressure you with sales tactics and I generally feel the Dr has your best interest in mind. The hygienist was also super nice and understanding, as I was extremely anxious when I was getting my teeth cleaned. The office manager went above and beyond to get my account set up and get the referrals I needed from my insurance. Great place I will definately be returning. read more

I love this doctor and his staff. I am always made to feel so good when I arrive and the hygienist is so gentle... I cannot ever get her name right so I won't try. For many years I didn't like to go to the dentist and then this doc was recommended by a friend who felt the same until he went here. They are so positive, not judging and with great help have me on track for a great smile and years of worry-free dental care. I drive from Clermont just to see them and I have no intention of going anywhere else unless I move out of state! I'm a real patient and freely gave this review on my own. read more

After seeing many Dentist, I must say I had a pleasant experience with transcend dental, the procedure went smooth- after having an emergency root canal, 5 crowns (crown was done in the office and ready in less than 30mins!) and 3 fillings all in 3 days, i didnt feel any pain whatsoever. I was able to eat anything and everything right after the procedures. Their staff was great, accomodating and friendly. Hygienist is very patient and is the only one in my dental lifetime who explained and taught me how to properly brush my teeth, and Dr. Ong's hand was light like a feather! (Very important if getting major procedure) He also took the time and explained my options and answer my questions and explained the xrays to me. And after seeing the before and after xrays- I am so thrilled with the result and HIGHLY recommend Transcend Dental! read more

I have been coming to this office for a couple years now. They have done everything for me from regular cleaning to completing my 13 month stint with invisalign. Dr. Ong is so soft spoken, polite, and exudes positivity. His wife, Michelle, is the office manager. She is by far the sweetest person you will ever meet. She goes out of her way to make sure you are completely happy whenever you leave the office. I left the country for 4 months and when I returned I moved to St Petersburg (2 hours away). I was still in the middle of my invisalign treatment and Dr. Ong and his wife (and kids) came in on a Saturday to take care of me since I was in town. I mean, come on... they took time away from their day off with their family to come into the office and help me. I don't know of any other dentist that would ever do that. I am so utterly grateful to have found an amazing practice that Dr. Ong and his team has created. I refuse to go anywhere else and will continue to schedule my visits with them for whenever I am in Orlando! They truly are a hidden gem and I would recommend anyone to go there. read more

This Dentist is the rudest, condescending man I have ever met in the Dental field. When he spoke he would never look me in the eye. After he repeatedly told me that I should maybe find another dentist I got out of the chair and said I would. He then angrily said, Thanks for wasting my time! I still don't know what made him so aggressive except that I was talking about my precious dentist and what they wanted to do. This Dentist said it doesn't matter and I will do it my way. He was very impatient and rude. I also saw a lizard scurry across the floor underneath my feet while sitting in the chair. Look we all have bad days so I will chalk it up to that. Although I have seen 2 other reviews in which one person suggested he is bipolar and the other said he was the rudest Dentist they ever met. Maybe you'll have a better visit. He's probably a good guy but needs to work on his bedside manner. Well it looks like Matt D picked up on what I was saying. I did ask for the cheapest and best quality. Isn't that we all want? Perhaps my words were simplistic and annoying. I would agree with that. To say that you can't talk to the nurse and instruct her what you want to be done, and ignore moe completely is not an argument. That is exactly what you did. You might be a great dentist but your bedside manner is a travesty. I know I am not the only person to bring this up. I am a patient person. Bottom line is this: if you have a lizard running under my feet and cobwebs in Windows, then you treat your patients with the same lack and haphazard attention that I received. And regardless of what you felt, a professional would never say, "THANKS FOR WASTING MY TIME." You should find another specialty that doesn't involve contact with people. read more

I just came from a dental cleaning at Transcend Dental office. A new updated color on the exterior, but the same comforting feeling when you enter. Not only does Dr. Ong perform excellent work, he also leads his staff with calm, courtesy and compassion for his patients. Once you sit in the dental chair you will look at a screen that has a complete view of your teeth. The explanation of what needs attention, and in my place with a cleaning all the good things I have been doing to keep my teeth in good condition, it's a great comfort. I love the reminder I receive on my phone, and in an email helps with my busy life. My entire family has been receiving their dental care at this establishment for years, and will continue for years to come knowing the care, courtesy and always top botched work from Dr. Ong and his staff. read more
