i just completed both a Core Strategy class and a Futures class at the Dallas facility. I have taken other trainings and classes to improve my trading. I put this training up at the top. First the instructors are extremely knowledgeable and very helpful. They will answer all of your questions in real time during classes. Watching some YouTube videos has nothing on the great training I got at Online Trading Academy. Most importantly is that the training does not stop with the class. There is so much follow-up training to help fill in what you need to work on with labs, class retakes, etc. For me this is the missing link where I can get ongoing help until I'm getting it right. Last but not least, the instructors, staff and customer service folks are just awesome and helpful. My experience has been super positive and I can't say enough great things about the OTA group. read more

I became a member in 2016, while still fully employed and I now feel that it was a blessing that I found this school. I was able to retired early and able to make way more income than when I was employed. The skill I have learned here is unique and now I realize why financial managers do what they do. Financial institutions use OPM (other peoples money) to make high percentage in return on investment, while people receives little percentage (if any) per year. I now have the skill to produce my own earnings, 60% per year on my portfolio is average. read more

My review is only based on their intro class and sales process. I attended a 3-day class and introduction to trading at their Atlanta office. All I experienced was a high-pressure sales machine that could have come directly from a timeshare presentation. In between some rudimentary overview sessions, they trotted out a team of instructors who all talked about how they were bankrupt, scuffling in a full-time job, etc., until they found OTA. And how now they are now able to "give back" to their communities and set themselves up for success. Travel the country in their new Winnebago. They even had the one guy who parked his leased Ferrari outside the building on Sunday morning. They presented a menu of classes that, and I kid you not, listed out at over $60k in fees. BUT WAIT, if you sign up right now, they'll drop the cost to $45k. And then the next day, it's $30k, but you have to sign up NOW. Their trading profit examples were a little suspect as well. I didn't see a single example of "we made this trade and made this much money". It was all retrospective - "look at the signals and how much you COULD HAVE made". They take a lot of time to show off their daily AM trading calls and what trades are looking good, but not a single "we told people they could make money in this trade and here's how it worked out to be profitable." When I told them in the middle of Day Two that I wasn't going to sign up for their classes without more thought, they brought out the "let's call your wife and get her to agree" approach. And the "don't you want to make a change TODAY? / what are you waiting for? / isn't it worth $30k to make such a life-changing move?" arguments. I held firm and they promptly walked me out the door. And they took all my notes and class materials (no great loss, but still). I'm sure some people learn to trade and make money. And I'm sure that most of the instructors are raking in the bucks from their day trading AND spending the time to give back to their community and pay this forward. But by and large, I came away thinking that they're just a high-pressure sales machine. It wouldn't pay off for me. read more

SCAM. I got robbed by them. I signed Ip with them in April and they told me I can cancel anytime before class. I was convinced. But then they didn't even deliver that class to me. I started calling them and they don't even respond. I called all the numbers provided to me by them. Even personal numbers. No one answers my calls or messages. Just finished our one week training and it was an amazing week with our Instructor Tom Jenkins he's far beyond excellent, he made the class lively and interactive. He fed our brain slowly till we all understand. His voice is still ringing into my ears up to now hahaha. Proceed with caution. I attended the free seminar and the 3 day market timing seminar. The first seminar only scratches the surface of stocks. I did end up getting the free flash drive as promised in the flier. I wanted to learn more so I signed up for the 3 day seminar on market timing. This class was taught by John Larsen who flew in from Dallas. I actually did learn a lot about the different asset classes and the difference between wealth and income. Again, it was surface material. I would've liked to see an actual trade in action as well as actual courses to see if it's worth the high tuition. In order to learn the patented strategies you gotta pay for a 7 day boot camp which comes at a hefty price of $25,000, you gotta lock it in by the end of the third day. I had signed up thinking I could write the expense of learning off on my taxes which is what my counselor had mentioned. After talking with my CPA and an IRS professional, they said this doesn't qualify so I cancelled my application in the 3 day window. I was worried because my counselor kept delaying my cancellation but he finally kept his word and cancelled it. If this is something you really want to do, consider the amount you want to spend. Do your due diligence among other trading academies before taking the leap. In the end, I thought it was way too much money for a week of classes, lifetime online access of classes that may or may not be useful and mentorship. I know lots of people felt pressured to sign up but one counselor talked one guy out of it due to his health conditions. My counselor was really honest and made sure I was comfortable with my decision which I appreciated. I recommend that you find out for yourself and know that you will be getting some good info and mostly a sales pitch. The 3 day class would've been worth it if it was $100. But $200 is peanuts in comparison to their hefty tuition rate. read more

I heard an ad on the radio, and thought it sounded fine. I called and scheduled. I then did more research and saw it was not going to be the right fit for me. I called and spoke to a live person, who was obviously distracted and emailed my cancellation. Since, I have had daily calls to reschedule. I have ignored the calls, then got an unrecognized call on which a seemingly nice girl introduced herself, she then obviously flipped the bitch switch and accusingly said, " YOU DIDN'T SHOW UP", would you like to re-register? I attended a free seminar in Dublin and I was pretty shocked with the way he portray himself. I'll get to that later. As it was a free course, I was not expecting anything except maybe some introduction strategies, which he did just that. He accomplished that task after the first 30 minutes. Afterward, for the next 1.5 hours, he was constantly trying to sell how great OTA courses are (Which I guess that was his job). At the end, he was adamant about us putting our credit card number down immediately. I began walking out along with another individual. This gentleman explained to him why he can't put his credit card down and below is what the instructor said. The knowledge is ok but one needs an avenue to trade through. To those ends, there is an entity called Learn-2-Trade com that offers training also, as well as high leverage through private equity on your capital to actually use some of these viable strategies. $5000 trades $100,000 (intra-day only.) They also have a funded account program starting at $50,000 after passing a 30 day live evaluation. I compare the OTA program to a martial arts studio that teaches you some techniques, but as excited as you are, one has no place to put them to the test unless the school participates in live tournaments! read more

My experience with Online Trading Academy has been incredibly positive. This is an organization that really cares about their students and helping people with their financial goals. Trading isn't easy, and certainly it's not for everyone. People seem to fault them because there is a cost for this world class education, however I found it to be very affordable at the start. As you get more advanced and take more high level courses the tuition of course is more, but you are earning more, it's an investment in a skill set that will serve you for your entire life. I think the few negative reports here are from people who may have the wrong idea of what Online Trading Academy can offer. This is not a get- rich-quick scheme. You are not going to learn how to be a Pro Trader in a half day course. It's akin to learning to play guitar, at first when you pick up the guitar you sound horrible, but as you practice and have a compitent instructor at your side you get better and better. I've found Online Trading Academy to offer a community of music instructions, you can go where your interest takes you, .ie Forex trading, or Stock trading and eventually learn how to play in the orchestra. Not only that, they offer a community to learn from, this can't be understated. It's so valuable to have other students just like you to compare notes, and learn and grow. I would encourage everyone to give OTA a try and see if it's a good fit. read more

Straight up , these people are vultures. They prey on desperate middle age people new to the trading arena. unfortunately I am one of the many that they screwed up about 4 years ago. Man time flies! They got me with a nice weekend course- teased me with their patented strategy - I was pumped up , They made me believe that I could trade for 1 to 2 hours before going to work and grow my capital by 70 to 100 % - I was so ignorant ( thanks Dave you were a great salesman). Next, I went back for a week long seminar and that when I got got . First day , they briefly displayed the PATENT , but no one had time to read or ask question ( looking back , it was intentional). it was like secret recipe and they did not want to reveal the secret. March 2018 , market correction was happening and after a couple days of going trough the STRATEGY ( the old supply and demand) , we finally get into THE LAB in place shorts all week and listen to how a great and successful traders they were. At the end , I did get much , but they promised me that this was a life long membership and they will mentor me. I paid $15K for a fairly $1K course. I got no help when I went back, they were more interested in how much money I have in my bank account. By the time I realized that trading was not as simple as made it sound I already lost half of my capital following the STRATEGY. I got screwed I admitted it. I almost finish paying 15K loan. Good news , I got about $100 check from the FTC out of my $15,000.00 :) I saw a bunch of five stars rating for OTC and I wonder is that different organization. I attended the Core Strategy Course in San Jose two weeks ago. The course was taught by Mr. Kelly Boycks. He is an excellent instructor. Kelly knows the material backwards and forwards. But more than that he interjects his life story to explain the "WHY" he trades and the "WHY" teaches. Kelly is also a patient man, who takes time to answer all questions and make sure his explanation is understood by everyone including the novices in the class. I think we were one of the first Core Strategy Classes to use the Clik trading platform as part of the curriculum. The Clik trading platform integrates the Supply and Demand Core Strategy techniques into the software making it very easy apply and use in class and at home. Now, I am working with the Extended Learning Course online to reinforce what I learned at the on-site course. Next year, I am looking forward to take the Options course and then the Futures course. Also, kudos to the MyOTA web site. I have all my courses and support information in one location. I attended only the free introductory seminar in Foster City on May 3rd of 2017. With nothing better to do and thinking that I might at least learn something, I attended the session with few expectations that anything other than basic material would be covered. To my surprise, I picked up more than a few tasty tidbits there from Brian Olson whom I found to be very well informed, quite polite, and who personally pushed nothing on me at all, quite the contrary... he gave a LOT. I've been trading for quite a long time now so I decided against attending the class itself for now, in spite of a formidably reasonable introductory price for the three day class. Of course, when things are that cheap a possibly irritating sales pitch is something that should not come as a total surprise. Most of us know that this is the way the education business works, particularly in this field. All in all though, I can definitely recommend the free introductory seminar to all but the most seasoned traders (though it would probably benefit them as well). There one has the opportunity to ask questions about the program, get a feel for the people, and be clear about what one is paying for. At any rate, information should not be measured by the pound, a single line can change one's life. :-) read more

I have been a student of Online Trading Academy (OTA) since May of this year (2017). I cannot tell you how wonderful, patient and supportive I have found both the staff and instructors to be. I will straight up tell you, I am a handful.... Being from the Midwest it is in my nature to tell you if I'm unhappy, if I disagree with you, etc. so for me to post a stellar review is more the exception than the rule for a company.... I graduated from college with a criminal justice major (Bachelors) and Paralegal Certification (Master's Certification). In my 30's I raised my children (stay at home mom) and in my 40's I became a teacher... I have absolutely NO BACKGROUND IN FINANANCE, Business, etc. When I saw the process on how they teach us to trade in the 3 day class I was blown away cuz there's a specific step-by-step process that ANYONE can do.... I have continued to be impressed by the support provided. There are literally HUNDREDS of videos to watch to reinforce what you've been taught and then you can take advanced videos to expand your knowledge base. As a former math and special education teacher I can tell you that success comes from consistent practice and this is what makes OTA so amazing! For the few posts I have read where people were unhappy I am inclined to think they did not reach out to the staff and get the support that is available. I have called and been assisted with various tasks, such as uploading a trading platform, getting help on how to use worksheets, and what videos to watch before taking an upcoming class so I will be better able to understand the content. When I signed up I included my 15 year old who will be taking classes next summer and I have NO DOUBT he will do extremely well.... He is in school, he knows how to study, and the motivation to succeed is reinforced with the community provided by OTA, such as the mastermind group (this is an upgrade where regular/novice students, such as myself, have access to teachers and highly successful students wherein I can ask questions, read blogs on how other's succeeded, get tips for trades, etc. What I am impressed also with this company is that if you DON'T upgrade to the mastermind level (and not everyone can afford it) when taking the classes, the teachers provide their email addresses to send them questions or get feedback on trades AND we are provided with information on which FREE WEBSITES outside of OTA we can use to assist us in evaluating assets/trades. Mastermind is not a goal that we students are told we need to purchase to be successful. Honestly, there's a reason some people are successful and others aren't and it's not because of where they were educated.... I could continue to go on and on and on but I think my point has been made. This is a company that cares about the success of its students, is constantly updating its software and worksheets, and has responded to my phone calls/questions which quite honestly have been on border-panic mode a couple times. I attended the free Power Trading Workshop in San Jose on May 14, 2014. It was not as much fun as some of the other reviewers have mentioned -- there was no free lunch, and we were not offered a free USB, but they did have coffee and tea. The facility was beautiful. The instructor, Lance Strauss, was pleasant, knowledgeable, humorous, and interacted well with the 9 attendees. He repeatedly said "we will take a break in just a minute," but we never did until ~ 1/2 hour before the 3-hour workshop ended, and constantly pitched the upcoming 3-day class, mentioning that we could only sign up today. He also referred to the company's "patented" software a lot. I thought the beginning of the workshop was wonderful and was leaning toward signing up for the 3-day course, but as the event progressed it became very much like a timeshare presentation. At the end, I said that I needed to do some research on the company before commiting, and might prefer to take an advanced class. I was told if I did not sign up that day I could not do so again, and was basically given a polite bum's rush out. Online Trading Academy appears to be no better and no worse than any of the other trading education companies around. I suspect the greatest money to be made in online trading is selling software and education courses that teach people how to (try to) do it. . read more

I went to Lance's half day Seminar in San Jose and it was a great experience. I learned about timing the markets and I recommend it to all my friends. I can see how trading isn't for everyone and it takes guts to play the markets. Without the education OTA provides, its like driving blind. I attended the free class provided by OTA in March. And at the end of the session, we were so encouraged to attend the three days courses so I signed up and paid for the courses too. Finally I found time to attend the three days courses this week and before the classes, I watched the required video and finished the online plan questionnaire and went to onsite to meet a counselor to talk my financial plan as needed. At the end of the meeting, the counselor tried to persuade me to sign on the advanced class that she said it costs $1000 per day. I said I couldn't committed it. I refused it very politely. Then counselor said if you can't commit it, then you shouldn't even go to the three day class. I felt very uncomfortable but I kept it professionally and politely and I just left the meeting w/o saying anything. Two days ago before the class the counselor left me a message and I called back and no one answered so I called OTA main number to confirm my schedule of classes this weekend and got confirmed that I was all set. Then I requested one day off from my manager this Friday and looked forwarded to this weekend's classes. Last night, I was driving to my home and counselor called me again, she kept telling me that you are not gonna learn anything useful from the three days courses unless you sign on the advanced classes. This was exactly what she said and I just quoted her. I became so upset and she pissed me off, I told her, why you didn't tell all the customers such things up front when asked customers signed on the three days classes. When you didn't tell customers the truth that w/o signing on the advanced classes you are not going to learn anything useful. The conversation was so upset me that I didn't even know why I even got involved. Finally I said if I hadn't paid for the three days classes I wouldn't even go to the three days' classes. And she said I can refund you. I said, I already requested one day off from my manager, and she said you can spend one day with your kids. This is really outrageous! Do you know about money loss per my one day off? And I still didn't say that I'll cancel my class. And she said she will talk to her boss that I am not happy, and I said sure. She ended the phone. This morning I recieved her email telling me to attend the three day courses this weekend and later I received another email telling me my classes have been cancelled W/O any explanations. And now I have to ask my manager to cancel my day off request. This is exactly/accurate experiences with OTA which I'll share my true personal experiences with as many people as I know. read more

I attended the free class. The 1st half hour was general statements about how people have profited from taking the course and heavy emphasis on how they will decide if they want to accept you into the academy, that you must disclose copious amounts of information about yourself, etc, if you hesitate- you are bumped from the program. I recognized this technique from 43 years ago when I attended a intro seminar to sell insulation.. they also stated that not everyone would be accepted. As it was about 50 percent of the attendees opted out and I was happy that I was 'accepted', later I figured out it was a sales tactic. At any rate, the second speaker was much more interesting then the first instructor, but also spoke in generalities of the success of other students. I am sure that they offer great classes, and that learning is a good thing. But I am not sure I have the time and am not sure I am willing to spend thousands of dollars. Yes the free class is just an up-sell to the $200 intro class, which doubtless is just an upsell to the $10,000 class. That's just how these things go. I've been through it before and don't let the timeshare hustle dissuade you. I learned a TON about technical stock trading from the last trading school I attended. That $10k I spent could have EASILY been $100k lost in trying to figure out how to trade on my own and I still wouldn't have known. No regrets. But that's not my story here. My story begins years ago with "my other brother Larry". He's severely adult attention span deficit. I've tried for 10 years to teach the man to ballroom dance. My wife and I have taught thousands. Larry's the thumb on the hand I can count our failures on, and he's become a dear friend of our family. Larry's been desperately wanting to trade stock for a living. I've been tutoring him on what I know from the Wealth Intelligence Academy (now defunct) courses I took at the unfortunate market timing of 2008, when the Fed stomped the market flat for years. Larry heard about Online Trading Academy's free seminar over the radio and got excited about it. Larry attended the free course and bless his soul and no fault of theirs--got excited but didn't get much else. So Larry invited me to attend to digest it down for him over the coming months of recovery from his upcomming ankle surgery. We both knew the drill and Larry and I were fully prepared to go to the free and $200 level. They do actually have a method worth learning there that's quite different than the technical analysis I learned. I obviously don't know the details but it has something to do with trading in the wakes of bank positions. Banks don't loose money so it sounded like a good idea to me. I'm also interested in trading stock for a living and quitting my day job. I'm looking for a few trading-minded friends to spur me on, other than, bless him, Larry. So I'm in for the networking too. We both showed up for class this morning. Neither of us were coy with our stories with the owner who was there to personally greet the all of 8 or so prospective students in the room. So far I'm impressed....kinda. My last intro class with WIA was nearly 100 people, but I just figured those were the days. Immediately upon hearing what he wanted to of my story the owner tells me "You're welcome to network, once you're a student." Sure. With a $200 check prepped in my pocket I thought little of the first warning. I'd arrived half an hour early with the express purpose of introducing myself to my fellow students so I proceed to do so. Honestly the place was a court hearing before I started talking. Very dismal, but I found a student or two quite friendly and interested in ballroom dancing. I'd brought our ballroom dancing info cards so I handed a few out. The owner was furious. He pulled me aside and gave me the full-on Vegas-style back-room hospitality. I wasn't entirely convinced I was physically safe alone with him. He caught me blindsided so I forget what I said but he took it as sass, but somehow released me back into the classroom. Minutes later Larry arrived up front. Apparently Larry wasn't coy with his story either, and why should he be? He let slip that I was there to tutor him. The owner put pi and i (the irrational and the imaginary) together and pegged me as some kind of competing stock trading teacher there to steal students from him. For the record I'm employed full time as an aerospace engineer. He pulled us both aside this time for more Vegas hospitality, this time for the blacklist. "How dare you use an event I paid the radio spots for as a networking pool" and "Do you even understand what you did was wrong?" To his credit nobody in the back room of a Vegas casino is innocent. I'll give him that much. But wrong? What I did was informative to me, and I hope to you as well. Where your treasure is your heart will be also. I felt the full weight of his heart in that back room. His heart is not his portfolio. His heart is the tuition coming in the door. At WIA back in the day nobody cared who said what to whom and when, just as long as you didn't try to talk over the lecture. We all had a grand time together over coffee and meals. Some of us bought the class, some of us didn't and that was ok. Because tuition wasn't where WIA's treasures were. Sure that school is now defunct--but mark my words nobody went broke over it. This guy might. He sure acted as though that was a distinct possibility. Larry and I had a grand time visiting in the parking lot for an hour. No great loss to us. We'd come to learn to be professional stock traders, not private school administrators. We know the difference between a business and a hustle, and so should you. A business does not have a back room to squeeze "card counters" in. It may be no coincidence that this place is next door to the Matrix, the biggest casino in town. read more

After hearing about this organization while on vacation in Hawaii - I immediately contacted them for a location in my area. To my surprise - there was a workshop that provided a look inside the training and the realities to the financial world. I signed up and paid the minimum cost to attend the 3-day workshop. I especially appreciated that I could invite others in my circle to attend with me. Nothing like having a 2nd and/or 3rd opinion(s). Mainly because I knew that this would lead into another financial obligation. I did not want my excitement / adrenaline to make a decision I would regret. The other obligation (I soon found out) was an invite to the trading academy. To make a long story short - I signed up on the first day @ the workshop!! However, I stayed for the remainder of the days...because the instructor (Michael Y.) that flew in from Chicago - was amazing and knowledgeable. Footnote: Prior to attending the workshop - an assigned rep (Jason) contacted me to make an introduction that he will be my point of contact (POC). Now, although he simply initiated a 'meet and great'...I was able to email and call him over and over (which I did) to ensure my questions could be discussed / answered. By the time I attended the workshop - I had a good idea to what I wanted to do. PERSONAL ADVICE (to any reader): Do your personal soul search - and know that this is something you are serious about. Beware of strong sales tactics but unwillingness to provide the basics of how to invest using Trade Station, their goal is to leave you wanting to get more training and not education. In fact, after completing the course they claimed they could not print out the certificate of completion, when in fact it looks like they may have already been credited for student completion on a previous date, not straight forward by any means. I'm a student of OTA and have taken some courses in class and online. LOVE the education I'm receiving on becoming a Trader. They take thier time with you and all of the instructors who worked with me and the student support group are all traders themselves. So not only am I getting the support I need but the genuineness i get from them, i get thier WHYS. of why they are wanting to help anyone who wants to become financially independent and free from a 9-5 job. I attended the free training in Pleasanton in 2017. I liked what I heard and decided to shell out the $300 for the 3-day training to learn more about the process and the different types of trading. I come from no trading experience so I thought I could learn a lot. I took Friday off work so I could make all three days. During the first day, Grisel had me meet with her during lunch. She gave me some homework and showed me the prices for the next course. The booklet said it was 7 days and $22,000. I told her I already had my vacation days planned out for the rest of the year and the earliest I could do a 7-day class was March (about 8-months). I also said I don't think I could do $22,000 right now. Having done sales in the past I know she was trying to pre-close me, so I started my objections in this meeting. Class ended at 4pm. I received a call from Grisel at 5pm letting me know I do not need to show up the next day. I was pissed. She said they do not think I am a good fit for the Online Trading Academy. I asked her why and she pointed out the timing of the next class and the price. I argued with her a bit by saying I could make it work in the 7 days were not all in a row as she described in our previous meeting. She then said she didn't realize I could do that and she would run back and discuss that with the group before they left. She called me back and nothing had changed. I actually don't think she discussed it with the other people. I will say the information is great and the instructors are great, but the business component of this organization is absurd. They try to pre-close you from the beginning of this whole experience. Any university/academy that does not accept people solely based on money is doing something shady. We never even discussed options or how this might work for me. I looked at other reviews on yelp and it seems as though the people in San Jose are some of the worst from a business side. I would not recommend working with Grisel if you can help it. Also, this company lacks the transparency a legitimate training academy needs. I have been involved in many training academies and universities and hiding a fee structure until you have people in the organization is super sketch. Beware of what you are getting into. Your expectations will definitely not be met. Shady list: 1. Receive many calls from different numbers 2. Don't tell you prices before hand 3. Don't tell you they won't let you come to all 3 days you sign up for 4. Want to turn people into full-time investors 5. Give you homework. The workshop was seamless and hit a few good overview topics. Lance was informative and energetic which are good aspects to have as a motivator. More importantly someone who is available for Q&A vs a previous worshops who are not reachable upon leaving the workshops. The pricing for 3 days workshops seems reasonable. read more

I attended the free seminar and it is mostly pitching more expensive classes. For someone with who wants a basic trading education and won't miss the money spent on expensive tuition, it may be okay. But don't expect to earn the tuition back very quickly - it just is not that easy for the majority of people. Go read some basic books about investing first. Also OTA's patented system is available on the US Patent and Trademark Office's website. Search for Patent # 8650115. If you read the abstract, documents and images it will give you a good idea of what OTA's system is. Successfully making it work is a different matter. read more
