Pricing was very competitive, less than the accountant I had last year who I very disappointed with. I see negative reviews and I wonder if these different experiences could be due to getting up to speed on the portal. The negative reviews seem to be similar though not as bad as experiences I have had with the previous 2 accountants. I'm spending so much time writing this because I am insulted and want to make sure no-one else gets exposed to this behavior. After two years of working with Stephanie and her team for our bookkeepings, the other day I sent a message on their portal to get some clarification on the $5k tax penalty, as well as the most recent invoice from them ($720 vs regularly $280-$300). I am beyond shocked and sorry to see such an impolite and unprofessional behavior in response - screenshots attached, so you can read and judge for yourself. She first shut me down on both questions, and said that I should be grateful! Once I replied and asked for clarification, she called me absurd, and archived our account! This sudden change of behavior is done within an hour after raising a concern with them! The day to day interaction with an accounting team is simple. It's the behavior when there is a concern, which determines if you are getting a professional service or not. Stephanie was extremely unprofessional, impulsive and impolite in relying to my messages. I have never seem such a behavior and advise the readers to stay away from this business. To be fair, her employees were helpful and also were conscious enough to write and call separately and apologize for what they called her "impulsive behavior". It turned out that the jump to $720 was due to a phone call to help them figure out how to clear a warning from the QBO account. We talked on the phone for 10-15 mins, and I got charged for 1hour:45minutes at $95/hour + another 45mins at $95/hour that they called Intuit to learn how to remove the error. The error was never removed, and I was charged over $200 extra so that they can learn their job. I wasn't told this is extra cost, that's why I asked for clarification. I did pay the full invoice as the last transaction, cause I am not a type of person who'd keep someone's money. But be aware, if she is having a bad day, chances are that you'll be insulted!! read more

I used this firm for approximately the last 5 years. But this was the last year. This year the accountant I had previously worked with wasn't there, and this year they changed all their systems apparently. Instead of simply sending my documents and answering their standard questions I had to sign up for a new service called basecamp. I wasn't familiar with this so it was a bit of hassle, but fine. What's not fine is that I had to drive a lot of the process, asking them if they needed info from me, and prodding multiple steps of the process along. Overall it took more than a month to complete my simple return and they didn't even help me schedule a payment to the IRS, so once again after *I inquired with them* on status I had to scramble and make my payment online manually for the first time. Very unprofessional in my opinion. Left me stressed and confused at the same time as paying them and the IRS thousands of dollars. read more

The person they assign to do your taxes really matters. The CPA that did mine was very slow in following up and took days and sometimes weeks to get back to me after each correspondence. I tried to be as patient as possible, but the last straw happened when after they said they would set up direct payment for my returns, but never did. So, for the first time in the past 10+ yrs I've used a CPA, I got a letter from the IRS saying that my payment was never made. Any other agency would have taken care of it before it would even occur to you that this would be an issue, but somehow I got the one who couldn't do that part for me. read more

Apparently hires out to third party CPA's that can't keep commitments and blow you off when called on it. No response when asked for a local CPA vs one hundreds of miles away. I can't afford to waste any more time. Good Riddance. I hold Yelp accountable for an excessively good rating that is apparently not earned. read more

In response to your posting of my email to you guys that was from my phone and I was so frustrated I didn't check everything on there before I sent it voice to text tends to make a lot of typos. As for the word game there was no game. What I was trying to say in that message, was that I had originally spoken to someone on the phone and made an appointment. At that time I shouldn't have had to do anything else other than show up and meet your accountant. Now I understand that some companies like to confirm via email to make sure they're not wasting their time but in this situation the accountant not showing up because they didn't have a confirmation via email even though we confirmed over the phone wasted my time and was not very good customer service. If your company requires a confirmation via email the accountant over the phone should have said so to begin with. I have a dentist that uses the very same system and even though you don't necessarily confirm over email they will not cancel your appointment. As they understand that you may not check your email every single day but you did confirm over the phone. You shouldn't have to confirm over email if you already confirmed over the phone necessarily and if you guys were concerned about not getting a response back wouldn't it be better to call the customer to verify why they have not responded back, other than not show up at their appointment. Now I did receive the email couple days before and I clicked yes on to the response and it flipped to another page I thought it had sent you a response but apparently not so regardless I confirmed over the phone I tried to confirm over the Internet and when I showed up you guys weren't there. you can try to spin it how you want but that's bad customer service. You know what they say about assumptions it makes an ass out of you and me, so perhaps a better business practice is not to assume that the person canceled the appointment they made over the phone instead just give them a call and verify. read more

I was desperately looking for a tax preparer to work with me on revising my taxes because I converted an IRA to a Roth IRA. After discovering the huge tax bill I was responsible for I re-characterized the ROTH back to a standard IRA. The tax service I went to originally filed my taxes electronically so there was no way to make the change. The tax service told me that they could not do anything until next year when Fidelity would send out the 1099R form, whereas Fidelity told me that was not true and all I had to do was to follow the instructions on Form 8606 and write a statement to the IRS explaining what occurred. I was getting two differing stories so I wanted to contact another tax preparer in my area (San Jose) for a 2nd opinion. I was not sure how to proceed because this process was very confusing, so after an exhaustive search online for a good dependable firm that specializes in tax services I selected Accounteam because of the favorable reviews on Yelp and I figured they would have more time for me AFTER April 18, so I contact Accounteam to arrange for a consultation to reclaim the tax payment I made to the government. I called and left a message on their voice mail. No one returned my call. I went on Yelp and clicked on a link where I filled out a form with my information expecting to hear back from them. The message on Yelp stated that this company responds within 1 hour. Two weeks go by and still no answer! After April 15 these people must take off on a long, long, long vacation because no one ever got back to me or maybe they only have ONE person dealing with tax preparation. This is not the type of business you want to be responsible for your taxes. When you need them, they are nowhere to be found and you are stuck with no support during off season. Too bad. I was depending on Accounteam to become my tax preparer now and into the future, but I can't afford to be ignored when the issue concerns taxes. Accounteam has provided excellent service to our small business for two years. Ludmila Bekker is our current accounting technician and she is skillful, efficient and pleasant. We had only one glitch where a substitute technician made an appointment then failed to notice it had been cancelled. She then wanted to bill us for travel time for attempting to come to the appointment. However, that person left Accounteam soon after and Stephanie cancelled all the charges. Very good outfit and highly recommended for small business using Quickbooks online version. They also support QB desktop version but the online version support is preferred. read more
