Mediocre at best... Tried ONO because it's steps away from my house and thought I'd give it a fair chance. It's a small place with 4 bar seats. I had low expectations and it met me there. It didn't taste like anything, it was really bland and boring. Sorry to say, but I won't be returning. There are definitely other options in and around Markham with better quality and portions. Go if you're in a pinch and you're steps away from this place. It's expensive for what you get, but they have daily specials. Someone else's review of this place is exactly how my experience was, I don't want to repeat and/or drag the business.

Finally tried Ono Poke Bar after recommendation from a friend. Ordered it through a food delivery app so I can't comment on the the service they provide at the store or tmthe ambiance. I ordered Kabayaki Unagi which came in 1 size - large. As mentioned by other yelpers, it's not a lot of food and it's not filled to or close to the top. I was not full off of it, but I felt ok. The unagi had unagi sauce on it but the rest of the bowl had no sauce on it (cabbage, carrots, cucumbers and tomatoes). I wish there was an option to add more sauce. Overall rating - 3/5. Might need to try a different choice. Not in a rush to try again.

When searching this place up on Google, I noticed they had an option to order via Ritual with no difference in pricing so I opted to do so as I felt it was easier to build my own bowl being able to have all the options laid out in front of me with all the prices listed. I ended up getting a snack size BYOB and the Big Island, which only comes in their regular size. It took about 15 mins between me placing my order and it being ready for pick up. Upon entering, your first impression is that the shop is quite small. The place looked relatively clean at a glance. My encounter was short but the service was good. My takeout was packaged well and so, travelled well with everything staying intact and still looking beautiful in presentation. Freshness and flavor were both there, which is probably the most important thing when it comes to poke. Overall, most of their packaging was sustainable. With paper-made bowls and bags, while the lid is clear plastic and they use plastic forks (but you can also opt for wooden chopsticks!)

New Year (re)solutions on healthy eats! Making my healthy choices Ono Poké Bar, a Hawaiian Asian-inspired poke bowl restaurant that takes pride in using quality ingredients and flavourful sauces! Ono Poké Bar just SOFT OPENED its Markham store on Chinese New Year 2022 ^^ It is located in the same plaza as Gal Sushi. They took over where Pokewave used to be. There is one table inside if you wish to dine-in, please be sure to show your vaccination! I would highly recommend Kabayaki Unagi Bowl ($16.99) and the Taro chips ($3.50, thick cut). Both are so flavourful, and I'd love to order them again! If you want something lighter, the Classic Salmon is also a great choice! You can also DIY your own poké bowl too!

Awesome poke spot. Lots of fresh ingredients. Great make your own bowl options. It's a really small spot I think it has seating for 3 along the window but seems like a take out spot. Service was fast. Thoroughly enjoyed. The daily specials are worth it.

I got the classic salmon & spicy mango bowl. If you're looking to a healthy alternative to poke bowls, this place is for you. Everything taste very fresh & clean plus all their sauces are homemade. I also got the thick cut taro chips which for some reason was too sweet so unfortunately not my favorite kind of taro chips. The ladies there are really nice & helpful. Even though it is takeout, the service was impeccable!

Finally tried ONO Poke Bar after passing by it several times while grabbing bubble tea in the area. They have a number of signature poke bowls, including some which come in snack sized portions. One has the option of building one's own poke bowl. The staffer serving us was friendly. They also offer a loyalty stamp card which is not something you see at other poke places. Hubby and I personally enjoyed the ONO Torched Paradise bowl. It came with torched tuna and torched salmon, furikake, taro chips, avocado, seaweed salad, crabmeat salad, pickled ginger, mango, tamago, green onions and terivaki mayonnaise. One can choose a base of white rice, brown rice, greens, or a mix of two of these. We got half brown rice and half greens. We found the ingredients to be fresh, and there was plenty of protein in the bowl. We liked that the torched fish is something we haven't encountered at other poke establishments that we've been to. At $19.99 for a large poke bowl, it does seem a tad steep in price. I appreciated that they offer 15% discount to frontline healthcare workers with proof of ID. Not sure why they have so many 1 star reviews but our experience was positive and will most likely return to try more of the poke bowl options.

    Saikoro steak with white rice.
    Kevin R.

Had the Saikoro steak with white rice, cucumbers, tomatoes, wonton chips, torched cheese, green onion, red cabbage, red onion, furnace, and togarashi mayo sauce. I omitted the mushrooms. This is one of the few poke places I have been to that has meat options like both steak and chicken. For me, this made it one of my new favorites.

This spot offers daily offers as well as monthly specials for walk-in orders! For the month of July, they are featuring their ONO TORCHED TUNA in addition to these amazing offers, you will also be able to get 10% off your purchase in exchange for a Google review. Their bowls are huge and super loaded with a large assortment of fresh ingredients & toppings. I love the variety and different textures of the bowls however, one thing is that I personally would have preferred a bit more sauce in my bowls.

I'm always excited to try new poke places as it gets boring to always eat Poke Guys. I tried the build your own bowl option since I'm picky about my toppings. I was excited to try the taro chips which are an unusual offering and available to order as a side as well. The chips were great and added a crunch to the poke bowl, but I found the rest of it kind of bland. It definitely tasted more on the healthy side which may be what some people are looking for, but I prefer the marinated poke that most other places offer.

ONO is right, because that's exactly what I said after taking my first bite. I love poke, but this did not cure my hankering. Maybe it's because I ordered through Uber eats, but I don't think I would give it another try. The quality wasn't really an issue but more so the taste. It just didn't really taste that good. Maybe it's slightly cheaper than other poke spots but I'd rather pay more for something a little better. Nothing is seasoned. Everything is bland and the only thing you have to tie in the flavours is the sauce. You need the premium toppings like the seaweed salad and crab salad to carry the flavours together. The portion of fish is really small and it's not enough for the amount of rice and other veggies you get. It doesn't taste like poke, it tastes like salad. I was more surprised that the fish wasn't seasoned. I tried a piece on its own and it's just cut up unseasoned fish. Yes I know that's what poke is, but usually places will marinade it in soy sauce or something at the very least. Sad to say it was not very good. I had to add ingredients from home to make it more palatable. I've made better poke at home with less ingredients. Imagine eating sushi but they forgot to season the rice. That's pretty much what this tasted like, but cut the portion of fish in half. I was looking forward to trying the crab salad the most but they forgot to include it with the order. What a shame since that probably would have added some much needed flavour.

ONO poke bar recently celebrated the grand opening of their 7th location in Markham. They are serving up some of their most delicious Hawaiian Asian inspired poke bowls which are loaded with fresh ingredients with a focus on quality and health. They also feature some very unique ingredients in their bowls such as taro chips and crispy wontons. I was thoroughly impressed that I could taste the freshness in each bowl and it wasn't loaded with added salt or seasonings that normally leave me thirsty. Everything was very clean and light and naturally flavorful. What I ordered: Ono torched paradise Taro chips, Avocado, torched salmon and tuna, crab meat, seaweed salad, pickled ginger and teriyaki mayo sauce. Kabayaki Unagi Unagi, crabmeat salad, cherry tomatoes, crispy wontons, masago, unagi tare sauce. Dont miss out on their current lunch special BOGO DEALexclusively at their Markham location. From March 4th to March 13th between 11 to 2pm you can get BOGO on their Saikoro Beef and Avocado chicken bowls. Also stay tuned for more deals throughout the month of March as the celebrations continue! Service was amazing and everyone was super friendly and helpful. Parking can be somewhat of an issues at this plaza during peak times

Parking is available right by the carousel or you can go underground by the condo complex. Interior is pretty standard. Nice to see that they have tables available for you to dine-in, but I see most are doing to-go, so nice convenience. Staff were friendly and nice to see they are following health and safety quite seriously when assembling the bowls. Food Their food had always been pretty staple, where you can either select a fixed menu setup or build your own poke with a choice of base/protein/toppings. Two Saturdays ago, I was in the Malvern area of Scarborough and had just spent some time running errands. I needed to grab some dinner. I looked at my DoorDash app. I saw a BOGO deal on a Boardwalk classic burger combo. Perfect! The combo details are as follows: - Two Boardwalk classic burgers - Two 8-ounce fries - Two fountain Diet Coke drinks I saw a Dubai chocolate brownie on the menu. I had to get it. I got an estimated time to pick up my order. I casually drove over to pick up my food. This eatery is located in a plaza. I drove southbound along Morningside Avenue and did a left turn onto Kingston Road. I then did a right into the plaza and backed into a parking spot. I walked into the eatery. There's a door to enter and a door to exit. It reminded me of Salisbury House in Winnipeg. The eatery was cheerful and spacious. I was the only person here at nearly 4 pm. I got a helpful woman who came out of the kitchen. I let her know that I had a DoorDash order. She took out my tray with my drinks and my paper bag of food. I thanked her and took everything over to my car. My food went into an insulated bag. I secured my drinks. Both drinks had the X on the lid sealed with tape. The problem with this approach is that the carbonation had no place to escape, except under the lid. Yep, I had Diet Coke leak out of one of my drinks. I ended up cleaning the mess after I removed the tape off both drinks to release the bottled-up carbonation. I drank one of them as I headed home. It tasted yummy and crisp. It was icy cold. I liked that the straws have a red diagonal stripe. They are paper and durable. Being a person who is curious about an eatery's backstory, I went on Boardwalk Canada's site to check out OUr History. It wasn't helpful with the birthplace right off the bat. It says that Dave and Fran DiFerdinando founded Boardwalk and they wanted to bring the "taste of Boardwalk fries" to Canada. Which boardwalk? It should be mentioned in the same sentence. When I think of boardwalk, it's the Beaches area of Toronto. Second? The boardwalk shopping area in Kitchener. The third? The boardwalk in Atlantic City. I don't recall any Boardwalk burger joint in any of these locations. When you read the Boardwalk Canada's story, the third paragraph says Ocean City's Boardwalk. Geez, thanks for burying this detail. As Canadians, are we supposed to know where Ocean City is? Looking at the Boardwalk US site, all my questions were answered in the tagline under the title of this History page. It's Ocean City, Maryland. Why not cut to the chase on the Canadian site with this detail?! One word: Ugh! Let's get to the food. I frankly didn't think the fries were to write home about. They are apparently cooked multiple times. I didn't taste it. They tasted like once-fried fries that were lightly seasoned. I saw tater tots on the menu. I'd rather get them than fries. I hope they are yummy. I will need to get an order and find out. The burger was delicious. The brioche bun was delightful. It was soft. Yet, it held everything together. It felt fancy and it was a nice change from a bun with sesame seeds. The seasoned beef patty was juicy and flavourful. It's halal, too. I loved the lettuce, tomatoes, cheddar cheese, and secret sauce. They tasted fresh and were the perfect toppings. I had the Dubai chocolate brownie for dessert. OMG! It was stellar. It had the best semi-sweet chocolate. There was pistachio cream on top mixed crunchy kataifi bits. I'd get this dessert again in a heartbeat. I had a wonderful experience here. The burgers do run on the expensive side at roughly $10 and higher. It's excellent, though. I'd splurge getting one, along with the Dubai chocolate brownie. (368)
