I think this is one of the top HK style cafes in terms of taste. They do their curries, black pepper, and all other sauces very well. The baked curry chicken cutlet with fried rice is really good, and they also have one of the best Guilin noodles. The service is very quick and the staff are friendly and attentive. The only downside is the seating isn't the most comfortable as the restaurant is quite small and minimalist.

The owners are quite a hard working bunch :) This small local business opens 7 days a week... hardly ever closes, even during holidays! Service is always quick, meals literally come out in seconds - I can definitely count of them when I'm starving!! Waitresses there are always friendly and courteous - they love a good chat ;) I enjoy their hearty breakfast specials, reasonably priced and gets you full for $3.99 with a hot beverage :) I always get their scrambled eggs w/ corn beef sandwich or tuna salad sandwich - all made with 3 slices of bread (be sure you tell them to toast your sandwich!) They also offer great lunch and dinner specials - different everyday. Comes with: - Sweet bread with butter (served hot, dinner service only) - Soup (Cream soup or Russian Borscht Soup) - Hot beverage (can add $$ for a cold one) - Dessert... mostly mango sago, coconut pudding, etc. (dinner service only) I'd say their food is pretty delicious... but I find that they don't give enough sauce. Maybe I'm just obsessed with sauce? lol. But you can always ask them for more =p Overall, I enjoy eating there! You can get your money's worth... it is not expensive at all :) They also offer party trays from appetizers to main courses like fried rice, noodles, and curry beef briskets #yum! You name it, they can probably make it :) P.S. Parking can be a pain (depending on the hour) because you're trying to fight over spots with people going to T&T Supermarket, and all the eateries in this plaza. They seriously need a bigger parking lot =\

2.5 Standard HK cafe fare, very small restaurant. Service was attentive and pleasant, place looks clean and neat. Food was alright, extremely small portions for the price. Also butter the bread like no tomorrow.

New Fortune Stone is practically in the same plaza as T&T but being in an awkward location as their storefront is not really visible when you driving along Steeles, I never realized it exist until I read Cherrie T review! Typical Hong Kong Style Cafe with a huge selection on their menu and offers Breakfast, Lunch, Afternoon and Dinner Special. Baked Beef with Portuguese Sauce ($7.50) lunch set comes with soup and drink was really good. Portion is huge and enough for me to pack half to go for snack later! Everyone here is so friendly and treat me like a regular even it was the first time I ever set food in this restaurant! Definitely worth coming here for a quick cheap HK fast food fix!

Place is pretty small, wouldnt come here with a large group. They have 5-6 items on the wall for lunch deals. Food is decent like any HK cafe. Plenty of parking around. Nothing too special though. Looked like people ordered for pickup or takeouts. Remember cash only place. I got nothing bad to say or good to say. Overall just average. $8-$10 comes with soup and a hot drink (coffee).

Came across this place after shopping at T and T . I really enjoy Hong Kong style restaurants and there are not too many good ones around anymore . Great selection on the menu and service was quick and efficient . There were 2 servers and they worked so we'll together and paid attention to all the customers . Definitely coming back

4.5 I have Yelp to thank for being able to find this hiddne gem. New Fortune Stone is a great little HK style cafe that I will certainly be coming back to. Pros: Expansive menu Great Staff Food is above average for HK style cafe standards Cons: Place is on the tiny side New Fortune Stone is tucked away in the same plaza as the T and T supermarket that you will never find if you don't know about it. Like I said, if I wasn't browsing around on Yelp, I would of never found this place. When you walk in, the place has a old school diner feel to it. The decor is very well done and it feels very homely to me. I can tell from the conversations customers have with staff that they have many regulars who frequent the place. The place is fairly small so it will be busy during peak hours. Opening up the menu, I see that they offer a lot of items here. Everything you usually find at HK style cafes you will find here and them some. There are many daily specials to be had here as well. The prices here are very decent and most items include a soup and a drink. They actually has so many items that I had a hard time deciding what to order. I ordered the baked chicken in cream sauce and my GF ordered the fish in spinach and mushroom sauce of rice. The soup comes out immediately after you order and the food not long after. My baked rice was very well done. The portions were good and there mushrooms included which I love. My GF's rice was a little on the salty side but good nonetheless. If I was eating it I would of liked more rice but for her it was perfect. What really stands out about this place is the staff. This is a place where everyone does know your name. The staff are super friendly here. Overhearing the conversations the staff have with the regulars really lets you know they love coming here. It's like one big family here if you ask me. It's a great atmosphere to have a meal at. Out little one had a little spill at the end of our meal and they cleaned it up without so much a smirk. I can't wait to be a regular here! If you love HK style cafes, you need to give this place a try. Above average food, great prices and awesome staff. You can't go wrong here.

This is a little HK cafe situated in the same plaza as the T&T, so around busy times, parking may be harder to find despite the large lot. We came in at around 2pm on a sunday, and there were a few tables. We ordered two dishes that were about $10 each, and they both came with a drink and soup. They were both fairly large portions, so we left very full. Food is above average, compared to other HK cafes. There seemed to be a good variety of dishes on the menu. The staff was pretty attentive and friendly, and we got our food pretty quick, but that could've been because of the lack of customers. Will definitely return to try some other dishes!

Good baked rices that come in combos with milk tea. Very small resto, not many seats. Solid option for HK style cafe, not an overwhelming selection of options.

This place is surprisingly small! It think there are only 10 tables. This place gets quite busy during dinner time. My boyfriend ordered noodle soup for $6.50. Serving is decent. Taste is a-ok. Not salty at all. Same goes for the sandwich I ordered. I ordered the corned beef and egg sandwich for $3.50. It is pretty bland, but you get a big sandwich for what you pay. Prices are really cheap. It was worth a try, but I don't think I am coming back again. Nothing too special about this place.

I love my HK Cafes and I have to say this is an amazing Little Hong Kong style Cafe. Located in plaza with ample parking should not be a problem which is a plus. It's a small place so at peak times I'm sure there is a wait. Menu had lots of items and specials listed on the wall. Went for the set dinner Hawaiian pork chop with rice or spaghetti when I saw it came with dinner roll, daily soup, drink and dessert for under $11 it was a no brainer and it did not disappoint so good good and everything that came out was piping-hot and tastes great. We also had steak with black pepper sauce generous portion of meat and the sauce was not that peppery just the way I like it. So to top it off dessert was not just some pudding or fruit that you might usually get it was actually fried ice cream amazing! Was really satisfied and will go back soon to try the baked casserole dishes.

Great place for quick meal good price for its food. Very friendly owner and staff, convenience location. Recommend those special meal that is listed on the wall.

Hawaiian sauce pork chop... how? It's clearly teriyaki gravy.

The lid on my shredded potato salad wasn't on properly and the sauce leaked through my Fantuan bag. The food gets five stars. Sadly, the lid on my potato salad wasn't securely on the container. I had my food in my insulated bag, so the sauce leaked into the Fantuan bag and my insulated bag. Luckily, my car was fine. As a result, my rating is four stars. I wanted to try a new eatery. I looked at my Fantuan app and noticed He Bei Chinese Cuisine. It had dumplings and snacks that I enjoy, so I said yes to placing a dinner order from this eatery. I ordered these items: - Pork and chive steamed dumplings (large has 14 dumplings) - Tea eggs - Shredded potato salad On Fantuan, when you purchase $15 worth of food, you get the shredded potato salad for a cent. Deal! After placing my order near my home, I drove over to this eatery. The drive was ten minutes. I was given an estimated time of fifteen minutes. It was ready in ten minutes. I had no problem finding this eatery. There was plenty of parking. I pulled into a spot and walked in. I saw the Yubu sign. My heart sank, as I loved the Korean tofu pockets from this joint. I liked seeing places to sit down and eat at He Bei. Nice! A woman behind the counter came over. I said that I had a Fantuan order. She talked to me in Mandarin. I don't understand it, but we were fine communicating with each other in our languages. She pointed out the blue Fantuan bag on the table behind me. I thanked her and wished her a nice day. She said thanks right back. I put my food in my insulated bag. With the leak, I managed to launder the Fantuan bag and clean my insulated bag. After I cleaned up, I had dinner at home. The food was amazing and filling! I loved the shredded potato salad. Sure, a lot of the sesame-soy sauce was gone. However, it tasted yummy. It was worth the cent! The steamed pork and chive dumplings were so good. I didn't dunk them in soy sauce. The filling had so much moisture that I felt like I was eating soup dumplings. The filling had yummy flavour and the dumplings were steamed to perfection. Excellent! You can buy frozen dumplings from this place. I'll need to do it. The tea eggs were the perfect snack while streaming hockey games. I peeled the shells off both of them. The eggs were cracked to allow the amazing soy-based sauce to marinate and get into the eggs. Delicious! I'm a fan. I'll take a closer look at the lids on my food next time. I'm glad that I put food in my insulated bag. It saved cleaning my car's upholstery! (59)

So we ordered Maggi Lobster (~3lbs) for $34/lb, and stir fried beef with Chinese broccoli (gai lan). The lobster was cooked perfectly, with the Maggi sauce not being too salty. They definitely gave us all the pieces of the 3lbs lobster. The gai lan had a bitter aftertaste, which is common for this vegetable. I wished they had a way to get rid of that. They were generous with the amount of beef and was well marinated. The cut wasn't that great, but that is to be expected. The was a cold draft, we even had to tell the hostess/manager, if they could provide a divider to divert the draft from hitting our table. When it came, I was shocked, it was only 6 pieces of Roasted Pig. When I spoke with the manager about the portion size, he commented "for that price it is fair". There was not apologies and walked away, nor was it written on the menu. If I had known it was only 6 pieces (size of your index and middle finger put together). I would not have ordered it. If you want to have Roasted Pig, you can get better deals else where. Also, ordered Marinated Chicken Feet for $13.98, when it came to table, it was also a disappointment, part of the chicken feet was dark in colour, not even sure if it was even edible or not. Another dim sum dish that I have order was the steamed chicken with fish maw. The chicken was okay, but there was only two small pieces of fish maw, (the size of each piece was 1/2 inch by 1/2 inch). The order 6 dim sum dishes that was order was mediocre, tasted better from other Dim Sum restaurant. When I received the bill for the meal it came out to be $119.50, they even had included the tip. They didn't even give me an option weather a tip was even worthy. I will definitely not be returning to this place. I definitely do not recommend anyone to come to this restaurant. I would consider blacklisting this restaurant. It's simply deceiving customers.

The individual New Century slow boiled soup is hardest to share but secure some empty bowls and you can divide the hefty portion. In the winter, there's a silkiness to the piping hot consommé that sooths a dry throat and has an umami essence infused with abalone, ginseng, and pork. There's plenty to choose from in the house signature combo platter including roasted duck, soy sauce chicken, BBQ pork, pork slices, and seaweed salad. Saving my stomach for the later dishes, I had a taste of the duck (a good start with crispy skin) and BBQ pork (satisfactory and well flavoured). With the generous portion of chicken in the combo platter, the slow cooked chicken with abalone broth seemed like overkill. I've never been a huge fan of this dish that's served cold since I prefer chicken hot. Still, I understand it's the jelly layer between the skin and meat that people enjoy. And to be fair, the chicken was tender, and New Century certainly didn't skimp on the ginger and scallion oil. For those who tend to fill-up before the "main dishes", the stars of the combo arrive mid-meal. The stir-fried Vancouver crabs with silver fish in HK style spicy sauce needs to be eaten at arrival as the crunchy coating is best straight from the fryer. And despite not looking spicy, the dish has a light heat that permeates in the background. Additionally, the crab was fresh and meaty, cooked well so it remained delicately flakey. The amount of sweet and sticky sauce used in the stir-fried lobsters with scallion in Maggie sauce was well balanced, lightly covering the crustaceans. Both lobsters were substantial; even after eating many pieces, we still had plenty of leftovers. This is a long review head to Gastro World for the rest.

New sauerkraut fish soup spot in Markham…read more A chain from asia that has finally made it's way to Markham. They are known for their sauerkraut fish soup that comes with unlimited self serve rice on the side. Servers were attentive, spacing of the seating and tables were tight. Often times people kept brushing up against my chair while getting up to go get their rounds of rice. Although not a deal breaker, was annoying while trying to enjoy your food. The portions are big enough for 2 if you get a large, but since it was our first time we wanted to try 2 different soups. Here's what we got: Chicken wings 4/5 - Came out raw the first time after we bit into it. But quickly flagged a server to let them know how this issue. They brought us a new one shortly after that was perfectly cooked, juicy and crispy on the outside. Laotan boiled fish with pickled cabbage and chili 4/5 - Their number one classic so we had to try. It's sour and spicy with the right amount of kick to it. Basa fish filets were also tasty. Came out luke warm. Princess's tomato fish 4/5 - Packed with tomato flavour. Savoury and paired well with the basa fish filet. Came with bean curd noodles as well. Came out luke warm. Easily would be a five star review if both soups that we got came out piping hot rather than lukewarm. Regardless, a great spot for a quick in and out meal.

If you break it down, it's actually such a good deal: the snakehead upgrade is usually +$3 each and their handcrafted drinks run around $6. No extra charge for any of that with this combo, so... why not? I got the scallion pickled cabbage fish soup (mild spice) and my friend went for the Laotan boiled fish (a bit spicier). For the snack, we picked half Taiwanese sausage and half glutinous rice cake to get both savoury and dessert vibes. When the bowls came out, they looked huge, but the portion was kinda deceiving... it's a very wide, shallow bowl, so the amount of actual soup wasn't as generous as it looked. For a fish soup restaurant, I definitely expected a deeper bowl. But the fish itself was fresh with that nice bouncy texture, plus vermicelli and a solid amount of pickled veggies. They also have a self-serve rice station with both white rice and multigrain rice. The rice cookers even have little signs showing when a new batch is cooking, which I thought was cute and convenient. Overall, flavour wise, it was solid and the promo made it worth the visit. But I am not sure if I'd come back again.

Very flavorful and savoury, another great dish to go with rice. Soy Sauce Fried Rice: One of my fav childhood dishes, and they delivered very well. Wait list is old school...someone writes your name and number in a notebook and you are called when your table is ready. The interior is reminiscent of the old school taverns you see in those old Chinese movies where the traveller has spent days walking or on a horse and comes upon a tavern where the interior is all wooden tables and benches. Dining style and dishes are all family style. You order a couple of dishes and then add rice. Spice level can be adjusted and even at 'less' the heat level was high. Definitely generous use of Szechwan peppercorns! Food is very flavourful and depending on preference some might find the oil level high. The clientele is mainly Mandarin speaking and if you are Asian they will immediately communicate in Mandarin with you but I did see the staff switch to English where needed. Service was patient and attentive.
