An absolutely incredible experience! I will never forget this experience. Never ever. Such a unique experience to eat in total darkness. This is darkness like I have never experienced before. You cannot see anything at all. It was really cool to experience food this way, and taste it and enjoy it in a different way. No rushing. Taking time to load up my utensils and savoring each bite. This is also an opportunity to gain some insight about what it's like to be blind. In fact, the entire wait staff is blind. They are the best people to help you navigate the darkness. The restaurant works with an organization, Horizon Travail, which helps prepare and train visually impaired people to enter the job market. I love that this dinner was free of distractions and electronics. As soon as you arrive, you place all of your belongings in a locker, including your watch. Nothing goes in with you, especially anything that could reflect light. This way you are unencumbered and don't have to worry about anything. The lobby is lit and you place your order there. We did a 4 course dinner. You can order off the menu or say "surprise me" and choose land or sea as your categories. I did a combination of menu items and surprise me items. After you order, your server comes and gets you and escorts you into the dark dining room. Our waiter, Fay, was awesome! He had me place my hands on his shoulders and my friends put their hands on my shoulders and followed me, like a train. Fay slowly led us to our table and after we sat down, he described what we would find on the table (for example, where the silverware and bread and butter was). When courses arrived, it was fun to figure out how to approach the dish, especially the surprise me dishes where you had no idea what you were getting. We didn't find out what was in the surprise me dishes until the end of the meal, so it was funny to see if we were right. Our four courses consisted of a cold appetizer, hot appetizer, main course, and dessert. The food was excellent! And the portions are large so come hungry! (You can also choose less courses. They have options for two or three courses too.) My cold appetizer was a surprise and it was a delicious marinated albacore dish with a mango salsa. Then I had a fabulous scallop dish. My main dish was a yummy seafood tagliatelle pasta, and for dessert I had a refreshing coconut milk and cardamom flan. My surprise me beverage was a refreshing mango hibiscus drink. I also shared a bottle of lovely red wine with my friends. They have a wide variety of menu items, including vegan options. The food is gourmet and very flavorful. We were there for about 2 hours and the time flew by! Fay gave us incredible service. He has worked there for 17 years. I definitely recommend coming here and I recommend making reservations. Next time I will do everything as surprise me. I can't wait to return!

10 stars !! Faye was our server and he made our experience even better with his warm demeanour. I had never experienced a restaurant like this before and I'm so glad I tried it. A bit overwhelmed at first by the darkness but quickly grew to love having no phones, no distractions and complete focus on the company and delicious food. I had scallops and pasta and it was exceptional!!!

onoir... more like oh yes. me and my friend have been eyeing this place for DAYS. we were absolutely not let down. we ordered the 2 course menu and experienced 2 hours of pitch blackness. we had 2 hours unplugged from all screens, 2 hours of conversations in the dark, 2 hours of delicious finger-licking good food (literally). the loss of sight truly does enhance your other senses... we were more receptive of each ingredient, more curious into the layers of flavors in each meal, more appreciative of every bite. life changing. 10/10 recommended.

O.Noir is a special French-Italian restaurant and patrons are expected to eat in complete darkness while being served by legally blind waiters and waitresses (a population that experiences roughly a 70% unemployment rate). There are several courses available for appetizers, mains, and desserts; however, you can also opt for the 'surprise' option where you have no idea what arrives at your table. The 'surprise' option was f..delicious. The concept of the restaurant is to experience food, drink, and conversation in the dark without being able to see anything including your food, guests or even the servers (while maintaining the standards of a premium restaurant). When you sample the food without your sight your remaining senses are heightened allowing you to really savor the smell and sharpen taste of your meal like never before. The server asked us to remove our hands from the table, lest the dishes topple over. The server is visually impaired but moving around effortlessly. Carrying & clearing dishes. Attending to everyone. Chit-chatting. All at the same time. All in pitch darkness. He was in control and knew everything that is going on. Always being there whenever the customer wants you. The server was so friendly and playful and I guarantee you'll be laughing most of the time you're in the dark. You'll most likely end up speaking to the people next to you and it's a great way to socialize without feeling shy because you can't see each other. The friendly staff and servers made the experience an awesome one. We never felt rushed at all. This was an outstanding experience and I highly suggest that everyone tries it. The more important was the fact you couldn't pull out your mobile phone or look at your watch. Time doesn't pass easily in places like these. Hence " conversation in the dark". In an era when we usually pass time before the food is served by scrolling through our mobile phones, these minutes proved to be quite a challenge for many people. The idea was for people to talk to each other, an art unfortunately forgotten in today's times, unfortunately. And, If you need to go to the bathroom, someone shows you the way. Luckily you can pee with the lights on One more thing, it's the perfect place for a blind date. Thanks to our server, the owner Leonardo and all the staff for making this unique experience amazing

The food wasn't really good, the service was ok, and the idea is to make you eat in complete darkness! We asked to sit at the bar instead

You walk in and there's a clothing store on one side and black curtains straight ahead. I just stood there confused for a second until someone suddenly appeared and escorted me through the curtains, down a long dark hallway, and into this intimate, dimly lit bar. Turns out, I had accidentally stumbled into a speakeasy. The space is tiny--maybe 6-8 seats at the bar and a long banquet along the wall for 10-12 more people. No menus either. They ask what you like and don't like, then craft a cocktail specifically for you. The pours are generous and the bar is stocked with top-shelf liquor. About a drink and a half in, I realized I needed actual food immediately and had to leave. The staff was friendly, personable, and chatty, and because the space is so intimate, you naturally end up talking with the people around you. Definitely more of a solo or date-night spot than a group hang. Such a cool, unexpected experience.

I'm a fan of cocktail bars, and after reading up on this spot I made it my intention to check it out. It just so happened that it was a short walk from my hotel, so we decided to check it out one night before heading to dinner. The Cloakroom is a speakeasy, nestled behind a hidden door in a men's clothing shop. In the line of being a speakeasy, the space is small - there are only 24 seats but since we got there right at opening we were seated right away. The space is dark and intimate, with the bottles of liquor lit up behind the bar providing an attractive focal point. One of the more unique features of the bar is that there's no menu; we told our server the types of liquors we wanted along with the flavor notes and they crafted a cocktail based on our tastes. We ultimately had two rounds; my first drink was vodka-based and fruity, while I went with something gin-based and dryer. Both were very good - there's little fanfare with presentation; the bartenders let the drinks speak for themselves. Service was great; due to the setup, each patron is given extra attention which really highlighted the experience. Overall, I really enjoyed my time at The Cloakroom Bar. This was definitely a unique experience with excellent curated drinks. I would definitely return the next time I'm in Montreal.

Being the Montreal Gran Prix weekend, the city exploded with crowds making it difficult to find a place with a patio and seating outside. Determined to succeed we found this place with the last table for two on the patio available. We were thrilled, as this place not only delivered in that department it was highly rated on Yelp. The place was bustling with patrons inside and out, but the service was outstanding with quick delivery of much needed beer with our food shortly there after. Bar Dominion is not just a bar with a long list of cocktails and a few beers, they have a nice selection of seafood and small plates. The menu here is not your typical "bar" food selection, but a selection one would find on a bistro menu. I ordered the Petite Bourgogne beer, which is a local red beer that was crisp and fresh. The Lobster Roll was the item that stood out for me and I'm glad I ordered it as it was super fresh and delicious. The buttery roll was perfect with the well seasoned lobster garnished with chives. The portions are also just right. The inside atmosphere was off the rails with an upscale atmosphere and the patio was quite different with atmosphere more suitable for conversation with ease. I really enjoyed this place and glad we accidentally discovered it. The only thing I regret is not trying one of their cocktails, as I learned after that the cocktails were created by a renowned mixologist, Andrew Whibely from Cloakroom Bar fame. This explains the very short offerings of beers.
