It's an okay place, a little pricey for a restaurant that raises their own beef and unless you order the burger at least medium it can be quite dry, even with the special sauce. I learned that the hard way and now if I go there order mine medium rare. This seems to have made the whole difference. The gomora burger was great, juicy and the jalapenos along with the jalapeno bun were really good. I just think $9.00 for a burger in a place that raises it's own beef is a little expensive. But unfortunately, this is how most businesses are in Ogallala NE. They're so busy raping the tourists, they could care less about the locals. read more

Stopped in Ogallalla on our way home from Golden, CO. Really great burger(Range Burger with smoked cheddar) and crispy onion rings. Cold, well poured G and T. My son had the Gomorrah Burger and as a burger aficionado was very pleased with his selection. The reviews said it all.. Best burgers in Nebraska.. I completely agree with everyone else. It takes awhile to get your food, but that is because they are all made to order. Disappointed is the word that comes to mind after stopping for lunch. I was excited to try the burger and poppers so we went out of our way while traveling I-80. The decor was nice and the place was clean. The biggest disappointment was the way the burger was cooked; very well done. Both of our burgers were so well done that there was no juice and little flavor. The meat itself is of good quality, so it is sad to receive an over cooked burger. The poppers were just OK, not great and definitely previously frozen. I think they were over hyped. This is a new restaurant in town. They are *fabulous*. Some would say they have a limited menu because they serve burgers and chicken sandwiches. HOWEVER, that's because they specialize in burgers. Don't come expecting to get in and out in short order...they make everything *to order* and it's well worth the wait! They have cute names for their specialty burger like Gomorrah and Goober (peanut butter!). They also have wonderful yardbird (chicken) sandwiches. Each of the sandwiches can be ordered on one of several buns including brioche, sourdough, and jalapeno. read more

Stopped by on our way home to Denver. FANTASTIC Burgers and FANTASTIC service. Was quick, good, and very clean! I didn't like the "special sauce" but was an easy fix, and my dad loved it. (Depends on what you like.) great fries; went to order another side of them, and my dad forgot his wallet and went to get money from the car and they brought them out so fast and just gave them to us for free. Just passing through Ogallala on a road trip, we stopped in here for dinner. It's a self serve style joint, you get to make your decision of burger AND bun. I got the Lonesome Man burger; caramelized onion and garlic, chipotle mayo on a brioche bun. Very delicious, French fries were great, both with a homemade feel to it. Clean well kept place with a place to play pool and arcade games. Friendly staff and relaxed comfortable setting. Nothing to complain about. On our way from Lincoln to Denver and we didn't want fast food so we stopped and had lunch at the Open Range Grill. The chicken sandwich on a pretzel roll was very tasty, the prime rib French dips were delish and we loved the sweet potato fries. The only item that we weren't crazy about were the regular fries. We were actually guided here by Yelp, on a trip through Nebraska to the Black Hills. I used to live in Ogallala and wow, this is a big improvement on most of the food there! It's definitely got a bar vibe, but we had a great lunch there with our kids (7 and 11). The burgers are good, and the sweet potato fries are excellent. We also tried the papa fries, which are like home fries with jalapeno and cheese in them. Verdict: weird but definitely interesting, and we ate the whole serving. Coming from: Younger local couple, primarily the health obsessed wife. Pros: All their beef is home grown, grass fed beef. I get that some people think that grass fed beef is dry, but with how thick these patties are and how awesome my husband thinks these burgers are, you wouldn't think they were grass fed. You can just eat knowing you are having a healthier option. Great topping combinations and bun options to create unique and great tasting burgers (including but not limited to; The Lonely Man [garlic and onion are a part of this] and the Goober [peanut butter... don't knock it until you try it!]). Sweet potato fries there are amazing, as is the homemade ranch that goes on the salad if you choose not to have fries (I haven't tried their normal fries, but my husband approves, which should stand for something). New facility so clean and cool looking. Friendly Staff. Cons: Okay, so it's a bit pricey, but I have never heard anyone leaving this place complain that they didn't get what they paid for, always a ton of food. It can be a bit loud, with the open floor plan and no carpet or anything to dampen sound. And, it's still new, so you have to be patient. read more

VERY clean, well lit and great atmosphere. They do things a little differently than most are used to, you have to order at the counter and go get your food when it's ready (a lot like 5 guys). The food is delicious and ranges from standard to "Foody", the prices are reasonable and the collection of photographs from early settlers of the area make the wait for food enjoyable. Great venue for a Wedding Reception!! First of all, the food is excellent and they provide great service at very reasonable prices. We have eaten here a couple of times before our reception and we were never disappointed. They served 70 people at the same time in a very organized and efficient way! And even though we ordered off the large group menu, it was just as delicious, if not better then when we went the other times. All of our guests loved the food & atmosphere. We had Sirloin, Chicken and Burgers and they all came out exactly as ordered. They closed the restaurant to hold our reception and took care of everything. We were able to bring in a DJ and our own cake. They even have a big outdoor patio! We highly recommend Open Range Grill for lunch or dinner and especially for a big event!! read more

After reading the reviews here....my expectations were high These folks did not disappoint. I was on my way back from Park City, UT and drove off 1-80 to try the place. I had no idea you walk in to restaurant and up to the counter to place your order. Menu items are clearly written on a blackboard and a few specials were posted on a sign in front of the counter. I placed my order and was given a glass for my pop order. They have fountain pop to the left of the counter and you help yourself. I can't remember the name of the burger I ordered. It was called the El-****......i just can't remember the name. The burger was spicy with grilled jalapenos, cheese, etc.....and there was a choice of 4 buns. I had the jalapeno bun. I sat myself down at an available table. About 15 minutes later someone came out from behind the counter and called my name......then bought my burger to my table. The burger was quite simply first rate. It really doesn't get much better than this. I highly recommend this restaurant....and it's worth the 3 km drive off 1-80. read more

We came here after spending 12 hours driving while spending the night in Ogallala. First, it took a full 45 minutes for them to make our order. When we finally got our food, the burgers were very average, and did not seem fresh at all. The fries were soggy and definitely not fresh. We would've been better off going to McDonalds. read more
