When day 1 of the 15th month of a 42 month lease, the A/C, Heat and defogger stopped working, I tried to schedule a service appointment, and when I expressed That I would need a loaner car- as this was expected to be a lengthy (several days) repair, they had NONE! Luckily, another dealership did. there, I was treated with respect, and my time was considered. They also replaced my wiper blades and detailed my car (Open Road NEVER offered that) So now, I'm THAT dealership's CUSTOMER! Stop treating your clients like they're expendable! read more

If you plan to buy a car from Open Road Subaru, I recommend doing extensive research ahead of time and determining everything you can about the value of the car and the cost of alternatives. I found a certified pre-owned vehicle online and went in to look at it. The salesman told me it cost $19,500, two thousand dollars more than the price listed on Open Road's website and approximately the same cost as buying a new version of the same car (even though it had 26,000 miles on it). I asked him why it was so much cheaper online and he didn't give me a straight answer but said he would honor the online price. When we sat down to discuss financing options, he informed me there was also a $1800 certification charge for the extended warranty. I had looked at certified pre-owned (CPO) cars at other dealerships and all had assured me that certification and warranty were included. It didn't make any sense because a car must pass 152 qualifications to be sold as CPO, so in my mind it's either certified or not and that's factored into the price. The salesman again could not give me a straight answer, and when I talked to another dealership the next day they told me this was a scam. Certification should ALWAYS be included in the price you are initially quoted and DOES NOT cost an additional fee. The salesman presented me with several financing options. It didn't matter how much I told him that I cared most about the overall price, he kept pushing me to think only in terms of monthly payments. I urge you to BE CAREFUL about this as I encountered it at multiple dealerships. The overall price over six years ended up at $10,000 more than the price of the car! The implied interest rate was astronomical compared to the 1-3% typical for a car loan. When I asked the salesman what else he could do, he continuously changed the financing options but never the (inflated) price of the car. He told me monthly costs are all that matter but of course the number of months you pay and overall price also matter! I ended up buying a new car with additional features from a different dealership and (including taxes and interest) paid $5k less than Open Road quoted for a used, 2 year old vehicle. read more

I'm not exactly sure how many stars I'd like to give this particular Subaru dealership, for starters I was in contact with someone by the name of WIl about coming in on Saturday "specifically" b/c there were all these deals going on and coupons to be used and I get there and there was none of that mentioned bought up or otherwise... Not to mention he wasn't even the one who dealt with me he walked me over and introduced me to Chris Reardon, he was patient at first until WE (myself & a friend) could clearly tell that he was losing his patience. (I guess I/we were there too long or something) I was approved for the loan for the vehicle I was interested in (2016 Subaru - Crosstrek) however I had a hard time obtaining insurance b/c of some no fault accident - PIP Claim situation so after contacting several insurance companies while there I gave up at that point it was almost like i was shoved out the door and he didn't want to talk to me anymore one of the young ladies there was talking to me still and he quickly (yeah okay, okay call me monday) as i was proceeding out. When i got outside the door one of the other insurance companies contacted me back and offered me a good deal with an insurance rate but at that point I felt some type of way and didn't want to even go back inside... AND didn't I sat in the car a few min. deciding should I go back in before pulling off... and yeah decided to pull off... Don't think I'll be returning back there. UPDATE: so here it is 4/18/19, and today i get a phone call from none other than Chris Reardon (while I'm at work) asking me did i leave a review about him and before i can get a word out my mouth he tells me "after i spent 6 hours with you, you leave a review saying that i was rude to you" (mind you RUDE was never a word that i used) I was able to ask him was my registration card for my car now left there and he completely ignores my question and yells out - "YOU ARE A HORRIBLE PERSON" AND HANGS UP THE PHONE ON ME so i call back and ask to speak to the manager who i was told was not in and i left a message on his voicemail. I had to bring my car in for a recall repair and was stunned to see the total disregard for mask safety during Covid. Several employees, including a staff member working the front desk, didn't even have a mask visible on their person, let alone on their faces. Many were walking all over the showroom with faces totally uncovered. I felt extremely unsafe, especially with at least a two-hour wait for my repair to be made. After about 15 minutes in the waiting area--where fellow customers at least were doing their best to stay masked and distanced--I asked about a possible outdoor waiting space and was directed to some tables outside the dealership. This vantage point gave me a good view of the shop area, where I could see that there was also very little masking or distancing. It was hugely stressful knowing that people who cared so little for their customers' safety were driving my car around and working on it. We've leased one car and purchased another from Open Road, but I will NEVER go back! read more

I am a senior citizen and went to this location for car servicing and asked for outdoor seating as a COVID accommodation. My only options were a picnic table squeezed between a chain linked fence and two parked pickup trucks or a chair placed in the middle of the parking lot between two cones - where I had wait for an hour a half. in december i leased a 2019 legacy as a LOYAL Subaru customer i was sold a tire and rim package serviced by Easy Care from the finance department. i was told that ANY defect that occurred would be COVERED. This month a bubble developed on a tire and i replaced it When i called Easy Care they informed me that a bubble was not covered as described in the fine print on page two however, had the tire blown due to the bubble i would have been covered and probably DEAD. The manager at Subaru ignored my complaint and in as much said that the finance person would have not lied. NO he just omitted an important fact. The finance manager who sold me the policy is no longer with the dealership WHAT A SHOCKER. The new finance manager told me not to worry and he would present the bill to Easy Care Rep and it would be taken care of. NOTHING has been done and my calls have been left unanswered. I am shocked to find myself writing a 5 star review of a car dealership, but Rob Carpenter was the only car salesman my wife or I have ever met who was very knowledgeable, very responsive, but not pushy. We also visited 2 Honda, 1 Toyota and 1 Mazda dealership during this search (and have bought a Cadillac, an Acura, 2 Fords and 2 Subarus from other dealers in the past) and Subaru not only had the best car, but far and away the most helpful salesman. Went with my sister in law for her to lease 2022 Forester wilderness car price was $37,000 plus a guy name Dale or Dave/ manager went to us and gave us a quote, sister in law tells manager monthly price that she can afford straight forward $450 and $2000 down payment. Manager said to be in that range she needs to put down $15,000, and i was shock I just lease an Audi Q3 black edition top of the line 5 months ago car cost $53,000 and my monthly was $600 and down payment of $2500, I ask Dave/manager where are you guys getting those numbers and he's answer was Subaru is more reliable than Audi he gave us another quote $7000 down with $450 monthly, to end up the story quick they agreed $2500 down and $515 monthly, from $15,000 down to $2,500 down thats the reason i dont like regular car dealer they play to much not like luxury dealers I've own and lease Audi and Lexus cars and they are so professional they dont play with prices read more

Like with any car purchase, this took a while to get all the paperwork done, which is never fun. Other than that, I had a positive experience! I walked in basically knowing what I wanted but needed to compare the details of two models. All my questions were answered, not only in terms of which car was best for me but in terms of financing as well. At no point did I feel aggressively pressured to buy a car or rushed through a decision. I walked out with a fair price that I was happy with. I would definitely buy another car from this dealership, although I would love for the process to be a little faster next time. read more

My 30 something son was interested in buying a new car. He decided to use the Costco car buying program. Contacted Costco, got the authorization number and the preferred dealer (Open Road Subaru in Union) in the program. Contacted the dealership and made an appointment. Gave the dealership the specifics on the car he was interested in, make , model, color, year etc. The dealer was very excited to sell him the car he requested. Over the next few days before the appointment, the Manager of the Open Road Subaru texted my son with the car specifics and the assigned sales rep (Dan "T") called my son (at least twice) in anticipation of his arrival. On the day of the appointment we (my son and I) left work early and drove out of our area for 45 meetings to arrive at the Open Road Subaru (Union) for the scheduled appointment. When we arrived at Open Road Subaru the receptionist was not at the desk. When she appeared and we explained we had an appointment she had to locate the sale rep. (Dan "T") When the sales rep finally emerged from the back office ( it appeared we had interrupted his cigarette break) he barely introduced himself (hi I'm Dan "T"). We requested to view the specific car we had discussed and he explained that car was not available. When we explained that we had spoked that afternoon about this car he mumbled something like we have other Subarus here. When asked to see what was available he reluctantly walked us through the show room and out the back door to a lot of cars. The one car that Dan "T" was showing us was buried in the middle of several other cars. When we requested to open the car and view the inside Dan "T" did not bring the keys. When we asked the Costco price Dan "T" said all Costco cars have different prices and he couldn't tell us the specific price on this car. At this time we confirmed that we were wasting our time with Dan "T" and at the Open Road Subaru dealership, so we left. On the ride home my son texted the dealership manager to explain how disappointed we were. The next day the receptionist called my son and asked why we missed our appointment. When we explained that we did NOT miss the appointment and the poor treatment we received from Dan "T" she said she would inform the Manager. Needless to say we have NOT heard anything further from the sales rep (Dan"T") the dealership (Open Road Subaru Union) or the Manager. DON'T WAST E YOU TIME OR EFFORT WITH THIS DEALERSHIP. read more

Terrible experience here. We appreciate the challenge of being open and social distance so we did an exterior inspection of a car when they were closed. John (Internet Sales Mgr)followed up with us to make an appt for a test drive. John confirmed that we could leave the lot and go basically U-turn to U-turn to test the car. Made appt and showed up on time. A: we were told we could NOT leave the lot and test the car on the road B: we were told that unless we planned to buy in the next 2 days they couldn't help us. We left. Here's the thing- we don't NEED an extra car but if we liked it we would have bought it. The GM (Jesus) schooled us that the used car may be gone in a month....NO KIDDING? Gee thanks for stating the obvious. The lack of professionalism and communication is a sign of poor leadership and lack of customer experience protocol. We gave Jesus 2 opportunities to provide solutions (once while still there, once as we were leaving to go home...30 min drive each way)however he did nothing. Disappointed. I have normally had favorable service experiences. However at my last service once they returned my vehicle to the lot, it seems that someone backed into/hit my car. Given that I noticed the body damage some days later, I asked Subaru to review any surveillance , and provide their policy on matters like this. I was advised that they are not responsible for damage to vehicles on their lot, and parking my car there was akin to parking at a supermarket...park at your own risk. No accountabilty, no apology. So my $185.00 oil change has turned into a $600.00 oil change/body job . They don't have to worry about me frequenting their "supermarket" again. read more
