At this point, the pattern is clear: the dealership is willing to publicly "express concern," but unwilling to provide any written explanation, accountability, or solution privately. To date, DCH Montclair Acura has: -Delivered a vehicle it could not legally title or register -Failed to disclose a title problem at the time of sale -Refused to explain the title issue in writing -Suggested I continue driving with expired registration using a dealer letter, which offers no legal protection -Refused to provide a loaner or any lawful interim solution Asking a customer to "reach out" publicly and then ignoring them privately is not customer service -- it is damage control. If the dealership truly intended to resolve this, it would do so in writing, with transparency and a concrete plan. That has not happened. I am proceeding through formal regulatory channels. If I could give this business zero stars I absolutely would. Let's start off with I bought this vehicle December 27th of 2024 almost 9 months ago. I bought this vehicle in the dark (which I do not recommend) and of course this is an "AS IS" purchase. But let me note that i purchased from this dealership previously when they had different management and staff and they were WONDERFUL so I came back thinking i would get the same treatment (this was also an "AS IS" purchase). There were cracks in the windshield (not noticeable in the dark and was on the passenger side that the salesperson road on when I took it for a test drive) again did not notice any of this. I went back the next day to finalize purchase. Drove off on that drive I noticed clicking sound in engine, the hood was moving at high speeds, oil was not changed that car was reporting it was at 10% (but they said it was and that it just wasn't reset), and the passenger side fog light was out, and all the tire pressure lights were on. I took the vehicle over to a mechanic we use as needed and he stated that there are issues with the front end. I went back to the dealership and asked them if this is truly how they sell cars off their lot at $25K. They said there is nothing they will or can do as I purchased it "AS IS" I spoke with the manager Laurence Wineglass who had the hood adjusted (thankfully it was only an adjustment) said they would not replace the fog light that is could be more than just a light bulb change, they would not change the oil or cover anything that needed to be replaced on the front end. They had us come back 3 weeks later as we were requested to call them back after the holidays to get someone to come in to fill in the chips in the windshield. I had to take the receipts over to Laurence once this was completed and I asked if they would do anything about the front end, he said to get a report from my mechanic and he would see if he could go through warranty to get it fix. Fast forward to bringing in that report he made a copy and said he will reach out to the company and give me a call once he had an answer... 9 months later and several calls into him .... NO CALL BACK! (oh and it had a recall for the high performance fuel injectors which i had replaced through a Honda dealership thankfully that was a recall) Let's get to the even better part on what brought on this review.... I bought this car with 88,000ish miles on it .... it currently has 98,000ish miles on it.... while getting use to this vehicle I noticed very early on that sometimes I'd either have a hard shift or occasionally a higher idle, but I didn't think anything of it. Fast forward to currently. Route 23 Honda and I are currently discussing a new transmission which I will add has been REPLACED once before and this dealership did not make me aware of this at time of purchase! I ALSO WENT IN THERE SAYING THE REASON WHY I WAS BUYING A NEW CAR WAS BECAUSE I WAS DUMPING TOO MUCH MONEY INTO MY OTHER VEHICLE AND FIGURED THIS MADE MORE SENSE .... I've spent over $3000 on this vehicle in the last 9 months including Maintenace that should have been done before listing this vehicle for sale. Stay away. If I could give it less I would. They sold my brother a car for $7,000 within a month it leaked oil badly. He took it back twice and they would not help. He is a disabled senior citizen. After 2 months of trying to get it repaired he gave up. They offered $2,500 for the car. It was purchased in December 2025 and the offer was made in February of 2026. Corporate DCH refused to help. Update: got in touch with the manager nitin, he was able to help and knew how to resolve the situation - for that I'm truly grateful. Drove over a loaner car for us as they sorted it out. It took about two months but we were able to get our plates. Tip to other yelpers: skip the headache of talking to your sales rep that doesn't know anything and go straight to the manager. I think internally they should have escalated this to the manager before me having to write the review but seems like a process they should work out internally and properly train their staff. read more

terrible service. from the moment we walked in they all looked confused instead of welcoming. asked to see a specific car and the salesman didn't even come out with us. i got my acura from PA and the salesman went over all of the features with me. went to negotiate the price and after saying they don't accept navy federal credit union checks, they stated they could only accept it if we bought all of the accessories with them. also said they would rather me do the financing with them - why? to add 7,000 more hidden fees. to top it all off - as i walked out the door, i notice i still had the keys to the car . not attentive at all. Classic bait and switch! Called yesterday and made an appointment with Veronica. She confirmed they had a 2015 Fiat 500 hardtop, red for $8,170. All the cars we were told have a warranty. She made an appointment for us for today. We were ready to buy. When we got there Keith greeted us and he got the car brought out front. The ONLY Fiat 500 they had. The car he showed us was a 2017 Fiat 500 convertible in black. For $18,000+ - more than twice the price of the prior days quote. There is no red hard top. There wasn't one when we called. There wasn't one when we made the appointment. I asked Keith to introduce me to the sales manager (forgot his name). I mentioned the situation and that I took off work and that my wife and daughter also weren't at work. We drove two hours to the showroom. The sales manager showed very little sympathy. He offered no real apology or any sort of real alternatives on other cars. He also said none of the used cars have a warranty. Stay away from DCH Montclair Acura. Nothing they say is true. I just received a call from one of the Manager's @ DCH. He was very nice, and says he will personally look into my issue and take care of it. I did get an apology for the time, and lack of communication. This was a good conversation, now just waiting for results. I will update again soon. So the Manager Anthony did call me back like he said he would. He has my documents, and will mail them to me so I don't have to come into the dealership again. When receiving the quote it was better than other places so we cancelled another appointment and scheduled to come in there. After dropping the car, we received a call from the service department. Oddly, they had very disjointed info about our appointment. They also wanted to charge us 4x what we were told on the phone. The only star in this place is the woman that greeted me when I came in. As a single, 34 year old woman buying a car, I left DCH Montclair Acura feeling disgusted by them. I also left laughing at the the two middle-aged white men (honestly, probably older) who tried to fleece me on price because they think, "oh she's a girl, she doesn't know anything about cars." No, I don't know much about cars, but I do know the market I'm buying in. So when you approach me with an offer that's offensively higher than it should be, you should be ashamed. Within 15 minutes after showing me a laughable price, the lease price I was offered somehow magically dropped by over $130 a month. I understand you're running a business, but don't capitalize on women, please. I'm embarrassed for you. EDIT: I had a chance to speak with Nitin Bassi, the General Sales Manager, who I appreciate was very quick to connect with me so he could understand what happened and try to remedy the issue. I'm not looking for an extra deal here, which Nitin offered and also graciously accepted when I declined, I'm just looking for equal treatment of all people who enter the store. First time buying a car, we knew what we wanted, and what we could've comfortably afford. Anthony was absolutely kind and calm, no hassle. Anthony and Vipin are amazing. 30mins earlier we walked out of another dealership. We walked in DCH Acura prepared to walk out if it didn't sit well with our gut feeling. Walked in, the lady (I forgot her name) at customer service was a gem. Anthony was casually strolling by, and said 'oh I can see them' God knows, it was meant to be! He got us sorted out with a test ride, and handed us over to Vipin, the numbers guy! Vipin got us approved with a payment we can afford and a Ford Explorer we wanted. Oh the space is clean, everyone has on masks and sanitizers galore! Everyone is socially distant and not much interactions with anyone else but your sales agent. DCH Acura! I feel the need to express my frustration regarding DCH Acura. I bought a car there in 2005. Never an issue. Was amazing so I bought another one. Couple of things. When picking up the vehicle, I knew it can take a LONG time, so I asked to have the paperwork ready. I sat there for over an hour before their finance guy got to me. Then he literally printed page by page while I sat there. Process was over two hours for me to sign papers. They sent me a survey to which I responded the sales guy was helpful but I spent more than I wanted and i asked for an appointment to fill out the paperwork and they weren't prepared. He left me a voicemail yelling that "I screwed him on the survey." First i thought it would be anonymous. Second it was psychotic. Fast forward 4 month. A Saturday at 1pm. Car is DEAD. I call the dealership and I get passed through to some customer service person who was making no sense, didn't understand what I was saying, and was literally speaking gibberish. Turns out they transferred me to some off site call center where the person was completely disinterested that a brand new car with 1700 miles was dead. I call Geico and they come and jump the car and run a diagnostic to tell me that my battery is garbage. I call the dealership back and refuse to let them transfer me to the call center so the agitated receptionist sends me to a manager who tells me I need to call Acura Roadside assistance to tow it to the dealership. Finally I get a tow truck at around 3. I receive texts and emails the car was dropped off at 4. Dealership was still open. Apparently a 4 month old car was not a priority. So I spent the weekend with NO car. Monday morning I email the sales manager. He tracks someone down to finally get back to me. Yes in fact the battery needed to be replaced and they did it free because apparently 4 months and 1700 miles is under warranty. Funniest was that I live 2 miles away and they wouldn't drive it to me. They sent me an uber. So during the work day I had to stop what I was doing, take an Uber there and then wait for someone to pull the car around. I purchased a used 2019 tlx 5-2-22, and needed service on 5-3-22. In and out of service for the past 6+mon. Engine light on for more than 4 months. From needing break fluid to needing 2 catalytic converters. I made my 1st and 2nd payments on my loan, while my car was in service. AC didn't work for the whole extremely hot summer. Many wouldn't believe just how much I went through. All the while I'm being told it takes time to get out of contract. Six months later I was told that if I wanted out of my contract my down payment would not be refunded and I would walk away with nothing, or may even a balance on loan to be paid by me. Feeling frustrated and defeated I allowed them to do what little they can and finally stopped fighting. I HAD A HORRIBLE DISRESPECTFUL EXPERIENCE FOR 6+MONTHS!!!. P.S.The "response" from DCH is a JOKE. DCH is cool with making you feel like a FOOL for dealing with them.I've called 1-2 times a day everyday since DCH'S "response", not even one call back.. The ease of the transaction and the no-hassle Acura Financial lease, including their great return policy, make getting the perfect new car stress free. We just leased a 2022 A-Spec TLX AWD and it is just flat out a great looking, handling, and riding car. I purchased my RDX in 2012 from DCH. The transaction was painless! The car has 150,000 miles on it now but, runs like new thanks to the service department at DCH! Samantha goes above and beyond, making sure that appropriate repairs are done when I bring the car in for service (especially important with an older car). I'm not ready to buy another car yet, I still love my 2012 RDX! I know that my next car will be an Acura, (probably RDX with turbo) and I will definitely buy it at DCH Montclair Acura. read more

Ok so back in June I buy a Mercedes. The car is sold as is. The sunroof doesn't close. No big deal it can be fixed they said , 4 weeks later the car finally gets back to me With a coolant leak. They tell me you can back out of the contract or just use the warranty. They tell me I have the gold package and it's all covered , so just wait the 45 days until it kicks in and get it fixed. I really loved the car so I accepted it. 8 bottles of antifreeze later and 90 days, making sure the warranty is active, I bring my car into Paramus Mercedes' cause I prefer a dealership that takes care of Mercedes'. i find out from Troy that the extended warranty was never activated! SMH. Well it's 5 days later my car is still in Mercedes' Paramus and still not fixed..... how does lithia motors allow this to happen to one of there owned and operated car dealerships! The hoses should be paid by DCH SINCE ITS NOT COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY... they new this and still let it go the 45 days! Sold as is means FUNCTIONAL. Be super careful when you doing service here. I can't believe even the service department is using 'bait and switch' technique. I made a phone to DCH Acura regarding a service of my MDX, they quoted $299 for doing service 3 and service 6. I think the price is fair so I came to the dealer. The service advisor first shows me a receipt of the maintenance which is $299, I sign up my name and gave her the key. After 30 minutes, she called me saying the previous quoted price was wrong and that's for a older model and for mine model it would cost much higher. It was in a middle of the maintenance so I have to agree the unreasonable price change. I paid nearly $600 in the end. It was a very unpleasant experience doing service here. BE CAREFUL!! read more

Bought a car here and not just a regular vehicle but a used BMW X7. We have been looking everywhere to get this vehicle at a good price and we drove to New Jersey from Maryland with four kids to get it. We thought taking the kids to help in the decision making and to check the size with all 6 of us inside. We get our salesman Tony to take us on a very limited test drive, basically we drove around the block. We have bought plenty cars and never got a test drive around the block weird but we still knew what we wanted that X7. So we got back to the dealership to complete the deal and after a long couple of hours the deal was done. So we are walked out by our salesman and leave in our X7 and other vehicle with half the kids with me and half with my wife in the X7. She tells me the gas tank is empty, so I got back to the dealership door to see if we get topped off for gas. Usually when you buy a car that is standard. The doors are locked and no one answers the phone. So we just go directly across the street to fill up $86 later. But that was a red flag me that they knew we were coming out of town because we called ahead and still have an empty gas tank. Well after about 4 weeks we finally get reimbursed for gas. But now my temp tags are expired and the dealership can't produce my hard tags. Better yet how about sending me my title and I will got get my own tags. The salesman called and said that was what he would do since the MVA was backed up. Well I'm still waiting for this title and we wouldn't mind being reimbursed for the fees associated to registering the vehicle. The tags have expired and we cannot drive the over $60k+ vehicle because the dealership cannot follow through on what was said by our salesman Tony. Be careful when dealing with this dealership unfortunately a sale is a sale. Relationship means nothing anymore. Crazy thing is my husband was going to get a vehicle he saw there but would not do it now or in the future. Follow up and follow through on your customers is key! read more

We drove there to look at a car from car gurus. Upon arrival they said that somebody else was looking to buy the same car but might have trouble getting approved for the loan. They said that we could test drive the car and it was great. When we got back the other buyer had their loan approved. Can't say they didn't warn us, and it was a really great car. Super staff, very nice dealership inside, and honest with the process. Would go here to look at other cars. read more

Had a bit of a long wait, but they have a very pleasant customer waiting area, with a cool coffee machine and fresh bagels, so no complaints! Used my "10% off" AAA discount, so my full synthetic oil change, incl. filter and fluids top off (plus a 23 point checkup) was only $56, plus tax -- aincluding a complimentary car wash! For the foreseeable future, I will go to DCH Acura for an oil change. Also ... kudos to Samantha, one of DCH' friendly and capable Service Advisors. She always goes "above and beyond" the call of duty, to insure that her customers' needs are met. read more

I took my care a while ago to get an oil change, then they said I had an oil leak.Then they said it would cost a certain amount of $ 160 bucks approx)to diagnose where the oil leak is coming from. Needless to say, I took my care to a local mechanic who was much better! Turns out this dealership did not secure my oil pan as they should have( they secured it with ties), left oil leaking, and have completely misdiagnosed my car problem. They said, " everything is fine except your oil leak." That was not the issue. Just because I am a woman they love to take advantage . But I knew better than to let them continue to work on my car. Even during this very difficult pandemic environment, the Service Crew at DCH when above and beyond the call of duty to repair my car in an expeditious way. They were honest with the repairs that needed to be done, explained the repairs thoughtfully and answered all of my questions. They flagged those items that were of an immediate necessity as well as those that were unnecessary at this time but were to be watched. This type of realistic honesty and quality of service is a rarity at any repair facility, let alone an automobile dealership. They value my business as a customer and know that taking care of me in a meaningful way creates loyalty that cannot be bought with a service coupon special or any other incentive and must instead simply be earned with great service. I believe I was the victim of a con carried out by Acura of Verona I purchased a 2014 Corvette in July 2021 and in less than a month I started to experience car troubles. The car was towed to the dealer 2 days after the incident (8/17/21) I contacted the dealership for assistance, only to have them ignore my requests. The car was kept at the dealer for almost a month with no communication from the service department or anyone after numerous attempts from my part to communicate with them. On 9/14/2021 I personally went to investigate what was the status of the vehicle only to find out that the car was sitting there for nearly a month with no repairs they had no excuse other than the storm which was on 9/1/21 and the car was there 2 weeks prior. That day the car was sent to another dealer to figure out what was causing the malfunction a week later I find out the car needs a new engine which is 15k and it's not covered by warranty due to some after market parts which were added to the vehicle prior to me purchasing it.. The warranty was sold with that in mind and we were assured that it wouldn't be an issue. At this point the car has been at the dealer longer than what I've used it for and I'm still making payments on this vehicle so that my credit doesn't get ruined. Acura of Verona fraudulently sold me a piece of junk at top dollar and now refuses to do anything to resolve these issues.  I strongly believe this is a pattern.  I urge all buyers to please stay away from these fraudsters because they are not credible and will definitely rip you off. read more

I had been hopping from dealership to dealership all day with my boyfriend and this was one of our stops. There was a car traded in that we were interested in so we had stopped in with no appointment. The lady at the front desk had said that because there was no appointment we would have to wait but we understood that so we sat down and waited patiently with no problem. After about an hour, we get up to ask the lady up front how much longer it would be and she had looked at us and said "oh, we no longer have the car." She continued to sit there and say that she tried to look for us when she found out but she clearly didn't bother looking since we were sitting right in the sitting area. We felt like we were not taken seriously and were not given the proper amount of service and attention like any regular customer should. They made a big mistake by disregarding our interests, because we went to another local dealership and had the best experience and left with what we were looking for and more. Not only did they lose a customer, but they lost many other potential customers. I think they will appreciate this review, and I can tell you this is all true, and I had never met these guys before, but you know the reputation car dealers have (I also thought that way) so I want to give them the kudos they deserve. On Saturday, April 13th, 2019 my wife and I leased a 2019 Acura RDX A-Spec from DCH Montclair Acura. Several days earlier, my wife had contacted DCH Montclair Acura after having previously visited another Acura dealership near our house. The process took about 2 days to come to an agreement just by way of exchanging a few emails. While the initial process was done online with Christian Salas, DCH Montclair gave us the better lease or purchase deal that the dealer near our house couldn't match. After having reached an agreement online, my wife and I made an appointment to seal the deal on paper on Saturday. I must first say that I am not a good negotiator, as I can get upset and take things very personal, I also have a short fuse and I am a no-nonsense kind of guy who doesn't trust anyone ever; that is why I asked my wife to take care of this entire process until it was time to sign the papers. Upon our arrival at the dealer I was expecting to meet with Christian who had been great online and over the phone, and I was greeted by Walter Goldman who indicated that he would be taking over. I knew my wife had spoken to Christian, so that kind of ticked me off; however, I did not know that there is an online sales team that sets up the deals, which are later completed by the floor team, so after learning that, I relaxed a bit. It was also helpful that Walter called Christian so we could meet him and tell him that he had done a great job with the price and all the things we wanted, and we had driven about 40 miles to get the SUV because of his effort. He got us in the door, and made us walk away from the dealer about 3 miles from our house. I do remember saying to Walter "I hope you didn't waste my time and the deal hasn't changed at all, otherwise I am out of here". Walter assured me that everything was the same, but I was still not going to trust anyone, that is just me. Walter was very attentive, and with a good sense of humor, and a nice Russian accent. He was able to survive my sarcastic humor by countering it with his own; he did an excellent job at offering us drinks, and making us feel welcome right away. After settling in a little, we went over terms of the contract, which to my satisfaction had not changed from what had been previously discussed with Christian, then Walter offered all the usual additional service contracts, extras the you can purchase, etc. Since I don't trust anyone, I picked a couple of extras I wanted (cargo cover and splash guards), but said no to every service contract because I always thought of that as just another way to inflate the dealer's pocket. However, after some time, a second gentleman came in, he was from the Finance Department, his name is Lou Mendez. After again offering us drinks and ensuring that we were satisfied with everything up to that point, we moved to his office where we went over the numbers one more time just before the signatures; at this point he offered some of the same services Walter had already mentioned (I still didn't trust them - when I mean them, I refer to the dealer in general) even though he tried his best and showed me how the services work and even lowered the price a bit. 1 of 2 pages Jose M. Tim, Hamad and Walter are straight shooters with down to earth, excellent service. I left my previous dealership for DCH Acura and am here to stay for all my vehicle needs from now on. They did not try to "sell" me anything. I told them what I wanted, they gave me a more than fair price (compared to Wayne and Denville I visited previously) and I was out with a beautiful 2020 Acura RDX that I am in love with. I had to share the negative experience I had with the attempts made to fix my new car at DCH Montclair Acura. I purchased a 2019 RDX on July 31, 2018, 8 days after the purchase I realized there was damage to the paint on the hood and roof of the car.  I contacted the dealer immediately.  Although I was upset the sales manager Robert Westervelt, made light of the situation, stating it was tree sap. He blamed me, which was not the case as I don't have those types of trees on my property or at work.  I took a day off from work to bring the car in to be fixed and had to return to the dealership 2 more times after that... as I worked with the staff (Nitin Bassi, General Manager, Robert Westervelt, Sales Manager, and Service Manager) from DCH Montclair Acura to try and resolve the paint issue.  The attempt at repairing the paint after unsatisfactorily attempting to remove the sap (or substance) left much to be desired. Horrible work on my car.  Every time I went to see if the problem was fixed I would travel 30 minutes from my home in Clark, NJ to the dealership in Verona only to find more issues.  My brand new car was now filthy on the inside because no one cared enough to use paper mats to cover the inside and there are now additional scratches on my new car that were unrelated to the original damage.  When I asked the general manager Nitin Bassi how this situation would be compensated for my aggravation, stress and lost time trying to fix the damage to a new car, I was offered a couple of oil changes. When I requested accessories in addition to the oil change, I had to fight with him and defend my point of view.  I agreed to the oil changes but I honestly had such a bad experience I would prefer not to go back there. The excitement of buying a new car has been ruined. On top of all that on 8/29 I was cleaning my car and noticed 2 of those same spots, one on the gas tank and another on the back window of the car. It hasn't ended because now I have to go back there! I am not sure what Acura's company vision is for customer service but I am hoping it is not what I experienced at DCH Montclair Acura.  Acura is a high-end brand and this was not a cheap purchase.  I did not make the decision to purchase from this dealership lightly and I am frustrated and disappointed with the experience. During this time, I was also in touch with Acura Customer Relations and have not received any feedback or support. At this point I don't know what else to do but I definitely want people to be aware of how customers are treated, it is not acceptable, not what you think of when you think of Acura. read more

Have been extremely satisfied with this dealership for a few years now! I started first lease on ILX almost 3 years ago and got a great deal back then! Never had a problem with the car and always got great help and advice on service. Today stopped by to find out the terms of what to do with my expiring lease and drove away in a brand new ILX with an even deal better than the original one!! Couldn't imagine it's possible. Thanks to Lora Moore who reached out to me first and was very helpful and clear about my first lease. If you're looking for a dealership that provides you with the sweet stench of employee cigarette smoke as you approach the showroom, non-responsive salesmen/saleswomen, hours to wait to test drive a car, condescending management, smarmy assistant managers, over-priced vehicles, and a crowded showroom where no one seems to acknowledge you - then you'll find it all at DCH Montclair Acura. We had multiple poor experiences here and decided to buy our vehicle from a local competitor. They were pretty poor all across the board. And to top it off, during a recent rainstorm, their lot contributed a nice oily slick running into the storm drains (which subsequently run into local streams). Thanks! read more

Be very wary of the service department here; they attempted to "take me for a ride." I dropped off my Acura for an oil change, and requested that they replace some console lights. The oil change was quite overpriced, but unfortunately standard for a dealer. For a little under $80, they perform an oil change, wash your car, and rotate your tires. I received a complimentary loaner since they had to perform this light repair. The car wash and loaner car bumped DCH up a star. This is where things get suspicious: I receive a text message informing me of other work the vehicle needs. If I'm willing to throw down a few grand, I can get these items fixed. They were highlighted in a "complimentary" inspection report, with two repairs costing well over a thousand dollars each. None of these items were even close to being an issue at my previous oil change (which took place at a Acura dealer). If I chose to do everything they recommended, my bill would have exceeded $5,000. Naturally, I was a bit suspicious. I couldn't understand how I went from the "green zone" to the "red zone" in so many categories. I chose to pay my bill and get the vehicle checked out from a local, neighborhood Honda specialized repair shop. Sure enough, the repairs came to $4,700 less!!! Almost every single item that I was told was an issue was absolutely fine! Shame. Shame. Shame. read more
