This place isn't too bad, the ambiance is pretty relaxing since it's close to the water. The service was good, since everyone was really friendly. We started with a tinto de verano and it was pretty good. The food, however wasn't great. The cod croquettes were really salty. The ham croquettes were a little bit less salty. The papas bravas were a little bit too salty as well. The bocata de jamón hardly had any tomato but the bocata de chorizo was better. The pulpo gallego was the best dish we had. The paella de pollo y verduras wasn't great either. It was a bit dry. The only thing that we liked about this restaurant was the location. If I return, I'll order something else. read more

Beach shack hard to find. Parking lot #3. No signs to help you. Better place if you happen to be at the beach with $ to spare since this is an expensive lunch. You order at the counter, and they call you to pick up the food. Frozen lemonade in a plastic cup $8.90. For appetizers we ordered Fried Calamari (they were hard) and Pescaito Frito (sardines) $14.90. We were a party of 4 and wanted the seafood paella - unfairly paella can only be ordered by 2 and they charge $28.90 per person regardless of whether 4 people can eat from 1 paella (they can). We ended up with tons of paella left. Again, the calamari/squid was hard. The shrimp were large and nicely cooked. With tip the total bill was over $210. Outrageous ! read more

Love this beach shack so much that I had to add it to Yelp! VASTLY different from nearby "Open Seas Cafe" which IMHO is over priced & food is terrible. This spot just across the ways from the sand is fantastic & completely authentic! From the tapas to the music to the employees, it's ALL Spanish, ALL the time (except maybe for Maria, the Cuban angel who make THE BEST mojitos in Miami). Do yourself a favor & the next time you're getting your tan on, stop my for an ESTRELLA some delicious TAPAS, SANDWICHES, & PAELLAS (paella is min. order for 4 people & must be ordered ahead of time). We wanted to order paella, but there were only four of us, and my parents eat very little. They required us to order a minimum of two paellas. We're not going to order food just to waste it. There was even a sign saying they charge $1 for plates and glasses. This is the kind of place you might go to if you're already at the beach and want to try something different, but it's definitely not somewhere that should be advertising a happy hour when that's not what they're offering, and it's not easy to get to. Starting with Ambiance, it doesn't get any better. Informal, right on the sand and ample open area to seat and enjoy. Service was good overall. There was a delay for paella because of demand but that's understandable and the paella was ready in the time promised. Make sure you order all drinks you need with your food, ordering extra drinks afterwards means getting back in line or pleading the owner to sell you some. I was able to get more drinks but not before having to hear "you should have ordered all you were going to drink from the beginning". The food is a mixed bag though. The Spanish omelet was anything but that, the paella (mixta) tasted like a Cuban "arroz con pollo", nothing like a real paella. The sandwiches (chorizo and lomo) were good but not special. Don't come around 4pm on Sundays. Paellas run out around this time. I had contacted the owner to see if we could reserve and he had warned me that there might be delays which we were fine with. When we got to the stand he didn't have paellas left. We still stayed cause the ambiance was nice and still got a good amount of food and drinks. When the owner came around we had mentioned we messaged him and he got every defensive and did not even acknowledge that we stated we were just asking what we should do to get a paella next time and he kept saying he didn't agree with us and what we were saying. He didn't let me speak or anything. Very rude not even thanking for even staying and still consuming. Was going to come back another day but honestly now with this treatment definitely not coming back. Get there early just in case it's busy cause they take an hour to get you the paellas. No comimos paella así que de eso no puedo opinar, pero todo lo demás un desastre. Bocadillo de chorizo con un trocito de chorizo cortado a la mitad y además seco, morcilla malísima, croquetas y patatas super saladas, la ración de pulpo con patatas es mucha patata y poco pulpo, los chipirones duros, pescaitos fritos tenian un sabor rarísimo. Lo mejor las gambas al ajillo y el pan. Servicio es mediocre. Te dicen que van sacando los platos según estén listos para que lo comas caliente, lo que no te dicen es que desde que sale el primero hasta el último pasan más de 30 minutos. This place is awesome! Authentic Spanish food in a little beach shack located inside the Crandon Beach Park (near lifeguard stand #6). We were really pleasantly surprised by the food options, homemade paellas and classic Spanish sandwiches. I had the tuna sandwich and my husband had the chicken sandwich, he was kicking himself that he didn't opt for the paella but we will definitely be back to try it. They had some great fresh popsicles and alcoholic beverages also. I felt like I was on the beach in the Mediterranean. The owner was great he kept checking on us and it just had a really family vibe.
