While we were not directly in the city, we were close enough to walk everywhere and yet far enough away to not hear any loud music. We arrived early in the morning and our room was not ready which was to be expected. I loved that they accommodated us by allowing us to use the spa facilities for a quick shower that was much needed after our long flight. After we freshened up, they tagged our bags and left them with the concierge. We walked the city and got the lay of our location. We really wanted a quick nap before dinner, but when we returned to the hotel our room still was not ready and we did not fully check in until 3:45. The room was nice, but I think the photos online looked better than what we got. We did have a separate living space with a couch that we appreciated. The room was clean and they provided refillable bottles of water. While that was a great perk, it was a bit irritating that we had to call them each time we wanted a refill and they would only give you 1 bottle each time. My husband and I both drink a lot of water, so we ended up buying bottles to ensure that we had enough throughout the night. The breakfast was very good, although it was pretty much the same each day. The staff was nice, but not the best with recommendations or suggestions. The art work was very cool and the hotel very modern and pretty. I would definitely stay here again.

Last minute reservations can be tricky when you are also traveling with two small dogs. However, the front desk staff responded to our inquiry immediately and we were warmly welcomed upon arrival. All of the rooms are named after artists and we were assigned the Van Gogh Suite. Like Van Gogh, the room was dry and moody. It was also very spacious with lots of room for our luggage. Housekeeping brought up two beds for our dogs and treats. They also offered bowls but we had brought our own. We were also given a bottle of champagne and offered two drinks at the bar. The bed was very comfortable and I slept quite well. Everyone at the hotel treated our dogs like celebrities. We were even able to bring them downstairs for breakfast and dinner because we had them in a stroller. The breakfast buffet is great. The bread that is served at the hotel is amongst the best I have eaten in my life. The staff was so accommodating and professional. One person asked us where we were going for the day and offered us lunch suggestions. The manager also comped our parking fees for each day because of an unfortunate experience we had at dinner. They also left a card in our car wishing us a safe journey and provided a bottle of water. We had a great time during our trip to Porto and the staff and accommodations at the Torel Avantgarde are a large reason why.

We got to our hotel room and was fairly compact but I didn't expect anything large in Europe. The bathroom layout was a little odd and the tub was fairly high to get in and out of. Have to be careful for disabled or elderly people. The steam room and sauna along with the relaxation pool is available for all guest even without a spa treatment which was super exciting but unfortunately I missed out because I wanted to sleep in. However, my husband went and said he enjoyed it all. The hotel is in a perfect location with lots of restaurants/coffee shops/wine shops/ and dessert places. We were pretty much able to walk to all the restaurants and lounges. Location was perfect!

My top floor room was huge by European standards, and had gorgeous wood floors and comfortable period furniture. The bed was great, as were the linens. I had a beautiful view of the cathedral up on the hill. The rain shower was great, but if your afraid of slick, wet marble under foot, use the mat they provide. They had Molton Brown toiletries, a great touch. Breakfast was great. You tell the front desk what you want the night before and they have it ready for you at a specified time. Everything was fresh and delicious. The coffee was awesome. Breakfast is served at a ten-seat communal table in a very pretty and somewhat formal room off the lobby. Definitely ask for the fresh orange juice, which is sourced from southern Portugal. I highly recommend this terrific little hotel. I would happily return.

We stayed in Dom Duarte for three night. We booked a double room and got a room with three beds…read moreright on the ground floor. As we had really heavy suitcases we were quite thankful. The room wasn't ready as we arrived early but we could already leave our luggage and jut walked downtown which is only ten minutes by food. Back we got our room with fresh sheets and towels, the room was really clean. The bathroom was small but okay, without a winos. Just that it took a very long time until the water got hot. The room was a bit dark as the window was just to a little courtyard but it was okay an not loud. The room had a TV that we didn't use. The ladies working there were all very friendly. There is someone 24/7 to let you in and help if you have issues. Around the hotel are bakeries and restaurants and as it is close to the centre you find even more restaurants, the shopping street and supermarkets. The station is 15min away by food and the metro station only three minutes away. It is no luxury accommodations but for a couple of days a good place, especially for that price.

An ideal one-room studio with a kitchenette that has a cooktop, mini-fridge, cookware and tableware, a sofa, television and dining table. The double bed was comfortable. It was a little warm in the room the first day thanks to the weather. There is no air conditioning, which is something Americans might be used to. The room does have a circulating fan and a heater. Wifi worked very well and there were plenty of European-style power outlets throughout including at both sides of the bed. A couple of things to note: - The main entrance and the door to the apartment are keypad driven. You *must* check your code to make sure you have it correct. I would recommend taking a picture of the code so that you have it on your phone and can't forget. The young lady who checked me in was very pleasant and spoke good English. However, she is not there around the clock. This is much more like an "apartment" than "hotel." - The room does not have a separate lock beyond the keypad-driven deadbolt. Anyone who knows the code can enter your room and I do not know how often the code is changed. I was a little concerned about this security vulnerability. -The bathroom was nice and comfortable but had a constant smell of mildew coming from somewhere. It was clean but I could never work out where the smell originated. - Hot water takes a while to get from wherever it's stored to the shower. I'm not a fan of letting the water run for nearly ten minutes but once it did arrive, it was plenty hot and at a good pressure. - It is located a block or two from the nearest metro station. There are restaurants and such nearby. It is quite close to the main parts of Porto and I did not feel insecure walking the streets in the evening. Plenty of folks around. We were…read morelucky enough to share our complimentary port on the terrace outside our room and enjoy the view every night. The staff was beyond helpful and knowledgeable. And the room was so well appointed. From the towels to the sheets and pillows every aspect of our large room made us feel so lucky to have picked the Yeatman for our visit to Porto. The food at breakfast was fantastic. A huge variety of wonderful dishes to choose from and the best omelet bar. Speaking of bars we opted for dinner a few nights in the magical bar with a wonderful pianist and captivating night view of Porto and the Bar staff went above and beyond to make our experience picture perfect. The concierges were also very helpful to set up tours or buy train tickers and with nightly dinner reservations.
