I see these reviews from years ago and reviews about going online and ordering glasses. . . . Here's the deal: 1. You can always find cheaper online for one simple reason. . . online doesn't have brick and mortar overhead. But that said, there is much to be said for being able to try on glasses and work with someone who is a professional and can give you advice and explain the different options. Those services aren't free. 2. I had purchased my frames several years ago from another retailer and so when my prescription changed, I brought them to Optical Factory as they are located in between my house and office. For those saying it's in a crummy strip mall. . . All of Florida is a crummy strip mall! Plus, it's not crummy. Parking is easy and the store is very clean, bright and inviting. 3. I sat down with Tracy who greeted me with a smile and warmth. I told her that i needed to get my lenses updated with my new prescription and that I wanted my Costas made into prescription glasses. Now I mentioned that I already had glasses before and, upon hearing the price that Tracy was quoting me for just the lenses (remember I already have my frames) I was a bit taken aback. I had paid substantially less for the previous pair at the other retailer (a similar place in Tyronne). But I had added a few features that I hadn't had before. Now for the "money shot" 4. I picked up my regular glasses (my Costas had to be sent to Costa, but that is another story for another time). I put these glasses on and IMMEDIATELY saw the difference between what I had and what I just received. The old adage that you get what you pay for has never been more appropriate than this instance. My glasses are incredible. Before I found myself moving my head all around to see because they are progressives and there were dead spots, etc. . . It was really annoying and caused me not to wear them as often as I should. I do think that this lead to the degradation of my sight found during this check up. These lenses are absolutely incredible. I am so thankful for the service and the workmanship that I got at The Optical Factory that I felt I had to share my experience. Are there cheaper solutions/options? ABSOLUTELY! Are there cheaper solutions/options that provide this much quality? Doubtful. For something that I wear everyday and affects how I live, paying a few extra dollars was well worth it and I will be forever thankful for Tracy's help and guidance in getting me to the features of these lenses! read more

I did the lab work for Optical Factory for twenty years until moving to Oregon last spring. I cannot recommend the place highly enough. In a sea of chain opticals who care about nothing but the bottom line, the people here care deeply about their customers. Unlike at chain opticals where you are limited to whatever lenses they stock, Optical Factory can get you any lens, any coating, tint, edge treatment, etc. you desire. Want to get new lenses for your old frames, but don't want to be without your glasses in the meantime? No problem! The owners have invested in equipment that allows them to trace your frame. When you come back, your lenses are done and cut to size, ready to pop into your frame. Their concern for the customer really shows in their extensive eyeglass repair facilities. Hey, I used to do the repairs, they take a lot of time and make very little money. At best I think they are breaking even on this service. Where every other optical shop will say, "This can't be fixed, you'll have to buy new glasses", the folks at Optical Factory will go way beyond the call of duty to make sure you can see. Think about this for a moment. They are giving up selling you new glasses in order to put YOUR needs first. I can't think of any other optical that does this. Heck, I can't think of another business that is so committed to helping people. Florida law only requires there to be an optician somewhere on the premises. At Optical Factory, every person selling you eyeglasses is a Florida licensed optician. I can personally vouch for the honesty and integrity of each of them. A lot of people don't realize there is no law requiring eyeglasses to match your prescription, a fact I've seen abused too often. Take your business to a reputable place. read more

My wife and I are on vacation in Florida and she broke a nosepiece if on her prescription glasses. I looked up the closest place in Google and it was "Optical Factory and Showroom." In spite of the "factory" in the name I decided to give it a call. A man named Nick answered the phone and I liked his presentation and manners: He said, "Sure, we have someone here available to fix it in a couple of minutes." It was too close to closing to get there right then, but I figured for about $10 we could get it repaired in the morning. Next morning our first stop was the Optical Factory and Showroom. It is nothing like a factory, but rather a very small but neat and well-stocked optician (with maybe an optometrist doing eye exams?) The woman who helped us saw us immediately, took my wife's glasses to be fixed, and returned shortly. Previously they were loose on my wife so she asked if they could adjust them. The woman suggested shortening the temples and bending them to fit correctly. This time she was gone for about 15 minutes, and I am figuring "cha-ching, cha-ching - we are up to $25 -$30" but it would be worth it if they fit right. When she brought them back they fit better than when they were brand new. I asked how much we owed her and she said: "No Charge." All I could say was thank you!!! But when we got to the car we decided they deserved more than that. So I would highly recommend the Optical Factory and Showroom in Largo for its excellent customer service, for going the second mile to make adjustments and improvements, and for a high standard of professionalism and quality. If I ever need a pair of prescription glasses while we are in Florida this will be my first stop! read more

This establishment has been my family's choice for many years. The owners and employees are extremely knowledgeable about new products and styles of eyewear and do their best to have the frames compliment your face. They also offer the thinnest lens possible for patients who have high correction and continually will work with you to ensure the customer's comfort. Dr. Ronald Tucker is very thorough and is open and understanding when the patient has difficulty during the exam. He suggests ideas for contact lens wearers also and always strives to solve any eye problems. We highly recommend the Optical Factory and Showroom. read more

This is one fine optical store. They have owners that truly care. Large selection of glasses available. People that work there really know the business. They not only have glasses that will have you looking good but glasses that feel good to wear. Some of the new frames and lenses are so light you tend to forget that you are even wearing glasses. And they happily make adjustments anytime after you've bought the glasses. Have been going there for years and can't imagine I would ever go some place else. I don't usually write reviews but some disgruntled people can mislead others with their negativity. My total experience here was very good. I needed new prescription lenses for distance. I was seen soon after arriving, assisted in frame selection with no pressure to opt for a frame out of budget for me. Tracey Dean made three adjustments so my new glasses would fit perfectly! Most friendly and helpful staff I've ever come upon! Was out of town and needed contacts to get home, because I had lost my last pair. I was obviously not one of their patients, but they still went completely out of their way to make sure I was taken care of.
