I purchased 2 pairs of glasses 1 progressive prescription, and another for sunglasses. I was told 5-7 business days; they took 16 Days. When I picked them up, one pair had a scratched lens. They told me that they would order another pair and contact me when they were ready. This is the first optical place I have ever purchased glasses from, that never even ask me to try them on in incase they needed adjustments. Nope. Just put them in their case and said to come back if there were issues....?? read more

I ordered two pairs of glasses there, one progressive and one polarized sunglasses which were also progressives. I was very specific in asking if the progressive lenses they sold were as good as the best nikon progressive lenses, and they said they were. I was told the sunglasses did not need the "high end" type of progressive lenses so bought the less expensive lenses for those. The regular glasses are completely not useable they are so bad, but ironically the sunglasses were better. They broke the frames and a lens once on the regular glasses and had the wrong colour tint on the sunglasses. Both had to be redone with the consequent delay. These people are incompetent and the "high end" progressive lenses they sell are not high end lenses. I paid several thousand dollars for a pair of useless glasses. This shop should be avoided at all costs if you have a complex or challenging prescription. Go with high end nikon lenses, I will have to do that after wasting my time here. read more

When I went to them in 2021 the sales person assured me that I can get progressive. I took his word and it was the worst mistake ever. I ended up seeing double to the point I almost hit the median u then wen to opti doc this year and he said they should have never advised you on this. i cannot have progressive lenses because of my eyes. I was told this over the years but this person said I could get them. it was a waste of 1100. read more

I was very impressed when I walked into this store as I have major eye problems. I had been to two other eye glass stores ( not Optiks) who were not into customer service. Thanks to Sophie and Rahki for their excellent customer service and aim to please and the lens are amazing. These folks took their time to make sure I received the proper frames I wanted. Overall a pretty awful experience - I brought my eyeglass choices to the counter and pleasant, rookie clerk started by building an account for me. Once it got technical she brought in a more experience tech and that's when things went south. With only the frames I chose and my prescription, they spent about 10 minutes on their own working on the computer then came back to me with, "that'll be $961." I told them I had a groupon plus still needed to calculate/ process the insurance, so I asked to be walked through the costs. They seemed reluctant to show me the screen and when they did, said, "oh, our mistake, that'll be $786, how do you want to pay?" Again, I took them back to the screen and asked them to provide me with the details and how the insurance coverage would factor in. She took my insurance card and processed the claim without walking me through any further details, then told me I owed her $536, still without going through any of the details for the glasses (lens types, coatings, etc.)! I explained that was still too much and she said it was too late now because the insurance claim had already been processed! She showed me the 1-800 number for the company and said I could either wait six to eight weeks for my insurance claim to process or I could pay her $536 for the glasses! She said I could phone the insurance company at that time, then acknowledged she could maybe find a way to void the transaction. After some exasperation and negative vibes from the two clerks they finally managed to confirm the voided insurance transaction. I strongly encourage everyone to avoid OI at all costs, they came across as very dishonest and disrespectful. read more

My vision hasn't been great in my old glasses so I headed to Optiks. I had a great Eye Exam and was greeted by a friendly group of staff when I walked out of the Dr. Office. I got some quotes and returned. I ended up with 2 pairs of glasses and a box of contacts for cheaper than anywhere else by a substantial amount. Staff was knowledgable and friendly and my glasses all showed up in the timeframe they told me they would be. Very busy shop and service may have been a bit slower but the quality of service and prices made up for this. read more

The pricing here is really scammy, especially with the Groupon "deal" they keep pushing. It's not going to save you money overall as has been noted by other reviewers. My wife wanted her second pair to be prescription sunglasses. The first time, they messed up the lenses and the glasses gave her a massive headache. Second attempt was better, but still caused headaches. They failed to mention that the second time would be their last attempt to fix it without charging for it. We went in to try to get them replaced today...nope. So much for the 2 for 1 deal. The manager would not even come to talk to us in person, but communicated through one of the employees. Terrible product, terrible service, terrible waste of time $ money. Just stay away. read more

Had problems with flashing in my eyes went to see my own optometrist land of course he couldn't see me for 5 days but told me my symptoms needed immediate attention, phoned Optima land they took me in immediately and gave me a examination referred me to a surgeon had laser surgery that day. Don't come here if you expect timely service or your glasses when you're told they will be ready. When I first went in I picked out the frames I wanted, and then waited 40 minutes to try and get someone to take my prescription and measurements. I left because I had other things I needed to do. I went back a few days later, was able to get that part done and was told that they would be ready in about two weeks. I was at Uptown yesterday and so I checked to see when they would be ready. I was told that they had the lenses done and that they would be ready later in the day. I came back mid-morning today and was told that they are not going to be ready until late Monday. The only reason I shopped here was that I had bought a Groupon for it, but after this experience I don't see myself buying from here again. read more

A few weeks ago I went there to have my eyeglasses repaired. A male clerk looked at me but did not seem interested in serving me (probably because I was not his type). He preferred to look around for stuff to do or engage conversation with a lady about her "precious" toddler. A week later I went back to pick up my repaired eyeglasses and experienced the same situation : dude looks at me but is obviously not remotely interested in serving me and directed his attention to another lady. It took about 20 minutes for staff to serve me but once they had they were pretty on top of their game. I felt respected and they helped me pick out some really nice frames which I was exhausted at searching through by that point. My issue comes into play with the "Groupon deal" that they had going on. The groupon was said to save $150 off of the frames and also to get a free pair of frames. It was a classic too good to be true marketing strategy and the TWO frames that I purchased ended up costing about the same it would cost to buy TWO frames with correction lenses from another store... Another note to put in. The in-house optometrist was very thorough I felt extremely well looked after with him. Summary: Pretty good service/staff but marketing gimmicks need to go. I'd prefer to be given honest prices rather than round-about "savings". read more

June 2, 2020 (Tuesday) I was standing outside their door for almost 12 minutes because their staff/doorkeeper was busy on the phone. When I finally got in I asked if I could look at their display eyeglasses frames (without touching) as I have already seen the optometrist. The woman said it's by appointment only and the next available one is Sunday. I only saw two customers inside their big store/clinic so I asked if she could give me just five minutes to check their display for the specific Oakley frame I was looking for. She said, "we have Oakleys and because of the Covid-19 we can't accommodate you right now". I told her I work in health care and I won't be touching anything at the display. Her reply was, "then you should know better" with an attitude. I work on Sunday and it will take me two weeks to find out if they have the specific frame I wanted because of course their website is not helpful either. It would not take her two minutes to check if she wanted to help. Will I go back? No. read more

I bought a Groupon and went there to purchase two pairs of glasses. I wandered around for half hour and picked out some frames to try. At no time was I approached by any sales staff. I finally waited by the counter and the store manager asked if I needed help. I asked about the promos and pricing and he very quickly wrote down numbers with minimal explanation. The whole time he was watching the entrance to see who was coming on. I finally told him I felt that I was taking up his time and he was too busy to see me. He said no, but as the manager he had to keep an eye on the store. Well what about an eye on your customers?? At no time did he offer to help with the selection of glasses, or if I had concerns. I walked out very disappointed. I did write a letter to the President of the Company and the regional manager responded. Basically apologizing and to make an appointment with a senior sales rep. No thanks. I will not use the Groupon (lesson learned) but will take my business to my local eye boutique where I am always treated like a valued customer. I definitely don't mind paying extra for good service. Do not waste your time or money. read more

Super disappointed! I ordered contacts August 18th and now have been told I have to wait another week longer! It's now the middle of September. I am leaving tomorrow to go travelling and have no contacts. The warehouse had problems or the supplier is changing its warehouses now. A few different stories and excuses. I purchased glasses here last year. The young lady that served me was very helpful in choosing frames that I actually liked. The "2 for 1" math didn't really make sense to me since 1 pair of glasses shouldn't really be $1,100 - but I was getting my first slightly progressive lenses so I gave them the benefit of the doubt. One year later my prescription has changed a small amount. I still really like the two pairs of frames so I thought it would be more cost effective to keep those frames and just get new lenses. I called to get a rough estimate and was told that two pair of progressive frames would start at about $490 because lenses are also 2 for 1. I went into the store later that evening with prescription in hand. I gave my prescription to a very disinterested clerk so we could get the ball rolling. I got a negative feeling about her right from the start - but again - benefit of the doubt. I also told her I am a member of the PVS (preferred vision service) through my extended benefits so it should be an extra 10% off. There is apparently no longer a card for PVS so you are supposed to be able to have the store confirm it on your benefits. This girl then took my prescription to the back of the store and came back with $807 written on a piece of paper. She said that she would believe me about the PVS this time but I better have proof next time I want to use it. That brought my total down around $700 and my blood pressure up a similar amount. I asked if she realized it was JUST the lenses. Yes, she knew that. I told her I had been quoted less on the phone. She then said that this is what I had paid last time for lenses so this is what I had to pay this time. I took my prescription and walked out at that point, with the quote sheet in hand. The sour, unhelpful employee hadn't even asked me if I'd like coatings, transitions, or any of the other things offered on her "quote sheet". Just went straight to how much they had charged me last time. It was almost like she was telling me that since they'd been able to screw me for that much last time, they were going to do the same again. I will never step foot in there again!!!!!! Also, I have since price checked at other Optical stores in Victoria and have yet to find a price that even comes close the high price of Optiks International. I can get 2 full pairs of glasses most other places for the price of their "2 for 1" lenses only. read more

I found the service to be excellent, The optometrist was thorough & answered all my questions. A special recommendation to Jade who's honesty regarding frames that suited me was awesome. Note. If a customer walks out of the store and doesn't look great in the purchase then it is bad advertising. Thank you to Lindsey too for explaining the Groupon. Like Christopher I was confused. It is a little misleading The Store deal is buy 1 pair get the 2nd cheaper set free. With the groupon they deduct the $175 off the 1st pair & the 2nd pair is still free. I first went here about a year ago as I had been told there was good service and product. Well I have no complaints about the service, but I am on my fourth - yes, 4th pair of glasses and they are still a wreck! After the first 3 tries, I abandoned the frame I loved because the service person said the frame was "too flexible for the lens" - huh?!! So picked another frame, waited a week for them to be done. Now less than 6 months later, I am having issues with the lens again!! I have been wearing glasses for 20 years and have NEVER experienced this kind of shoddy product. I first must say I live around Victoria. and I had a Groupon for this, and as I needed new glasses, no problem, right? hmmm. First, the first staff person to greet me was ok, basic explaination of the 2 for 1 deal, and where to get glasses for the second pair. Fine. I was disheartened when I looked at the prices, even higher than optometrists offices! Every pair of "cheap" glasses were smudged, barely see through, like they had been picked over for a month without cleaning. Ok, I found a couple of frames, so talked to a "guy?" there, who started to give me a quote at the counter desk thingy. He coughed 18 times, almost in my face, and not once covered up or directed away from me. He kept rubbing his nose and then touching my paperwork. Ewwwww. I glanced around looking for some sanitizer. Anyway, I have a groupon, so how bad could it be? The price quoted was the same for 2 pair at the optometrists, without the groupon, and my insurance!!!! How are these guys in business still? I had dealt with them in Medicine Hat and all was good there, even the lenses were half of what this one is. Save yourself from hassles, overpricing and disease by just avoiding this store that should be in a back alley of slums, not in an uptown, upscale mall. read more
