Optimum has been great until now. Tonight the wifi and thus internet connection crashed. Calling Optimum, I was promised that I would receive a call back in up to 20 minutes. It was a very bad experience at the Optimum Sparta, NJ location. And this wasn't the first time. My husband also had a situation with them awhile ago. He had a problem with a modem and she proceeded to say, "Any regular person would know how to connect a modem." The people there and just the whole ambiance is just so negative. I asked a simple question and the person working there, Christine, was just rude and did not answer my question just just gave me a vague answer. I had to ask her three times and then she proceeded to have a major attitude. She needs considerable re-training on how to assist and treat customers not just ones that agree with her, but any customer that is inquiring and having a problem with their equipment. This cable service doesn't seem to be hiring quality help. They badger people all the time with mobile service pitches which I wonder why. In any case, I don't appreciate the lack of respect they have for their customers. read more

I plan on calling the Better Business Bureau because optimum refuses to fix the broken underground wires that are over 20 years old in Indian field, Hamburg, New Jersey. There are dozens of homes in this community that are not able to work from home because the Internet is faulty. Why are we paying full dollars? I had a technician come to my house and showed me five other homes that he needed to go visit with the same problem that day in the development. He said that upper management of Optimum in Sparta know about the broken wire. Why hasn't any reached out to us to apologize for the inconvenience? I called yesterday and spoke with Yaretzi, a manager. She said she's gonna send a special visit appointment on February 5 to check the wires outside, but I told her the wires are underground. she said that they can't do anything else until this aspect has been checked off of the list. Optimum/Altice knows they have bad network lines in my neighborhood but have refused to replace them. They have put bandaides on the problem. The netowork has had NOT stability for years! They have kicked the can too long. read more

Absolutely the worst ISP! and we've had some doosies up here in Sussex County! Consistently 30 MBPS when we're paying for 300 MBPS. Phones (VOIP) also affected - can't even carry on a landline phone call with clients! read more

my internet bill went from 50 to 90. I called customer service and after a long automated sequence i got a person who had a thick Spanish accent so bad she was hard to understand. She kept making me repeat myself and i could hear her and a friend giggling in the background so i hung up. called again and this time it was a thick Indian accent. I asked why the bill went up and they said my credit time is over. They also posted that the bill will be raised again just for internet. I said what offers are out there and she said there is nothing. Between just internet and the apps prices doubling its worse then cable. read more

The two years I had them in Franklin there were no issues. I bought a house and moved to Hamburg and the network hasn't been stable since. Was told by two technicians that there was over saturation and they had to update the lines. "By the end of December it should be fixed" Here we are in January and it's getting worse. read more

we were happy when Optimum purchased Service Electric of Sparta, hoping for upgraded equipment and better service. Wrong! Their prices are outrageous for the service we get, the boxes go bad frequently, necessitating a trip to Sparta to replace them. When you have a problem, customer service is almost non-existent. Can't talk to the Sparta people, you go through a long automated questioning session and if you finally get a representative, they are not easy to understand. They know they have little competition in this area, and they take advantage of the customers. When fiber optic gets to our town, we will be changing services. read more

I cannot believe the type of service they have provided. I just purchased a new condo and have been trying to get service activated so I can move in. Without internet I cannot work from home. They have scheduled and cancelled my service 5 DIFFERENT TIMES. 5/17, 5/16, 5/14, 5/9, 5/3. They have a monopoly on high speed internet. I have emailed the BrandReviews@AlticeUSA.com as well. ...I have been an Optimum customer for years in OakRidge.I have internet and cable service.I am dropping the cable service in order to save a few dollars as I am a senior citizen,but I am keeping the internet.I've never had a problem with Optimum but after reading all the horror story reviews I figured when I entered the Optimum store I probably would have to wait an hour then it would go further downhill from there...but I waited only 1 minute, I told Gary my story and he handed me a brand new modem and gave me instructions how to install it both verbally and written.I didn't have to sign a receipt as he had my account number-so I was in and out in 5 minutes.Today while setting up the modem I ran into trouble so I called Optimum for help-I waited 5 minutes and connected with Mia who walked me thru the whole process which ended successfully. Terrible. Our WiFi keeps going out for days and we've had to get countless new boxes. Customer service is trash. While we were trying to cancel they kept transferring us to another representative and we were on hold for hours. Absolutely terrible. read more

The day optimum/altice took over from Service Electric it has been nothing but a nightmare. I was paying for 1 gig internet and only getting on average 610mb. Ibwould complain and by miracle the speed would get to 800 or so ( still not 1 gig ). It would not last because they would throttle back down. What they do is fraud. Outright fraud. I finally had enough and just cut the cord and switched to Pkanetfiber. My speeds now average 950mb. I use fubo for live local programming and am now saving over $100 per month. Just to be petty and non professional optimum disconnected the cable 3 weeks before the end of my billing cycle that I paid for. These people should be in jail for theft. Now my whole street has planetfiber signs on their front lawns. Optimum. You suck read more

I went to the Optimum Location in Sparta (07/27/2023) My Modem Died. I was nervous That I was not going to get a new one and would have to come back as the reviews of this location are very bad. That is not the case! April who works at the Front Help Desk was Absolutely Awesome. She new Exactly what I needed. She saw that I was on a very old Service Electric contract and updated my speed to today's stands. I was there for 30 minutes but I was interested in learning more about the wireless plan. I have been with Verizon for 25 years and pay way too much. I am a Truck driver and Drive the exact same route everyday. So I know all of Verizon's Dead spots very well. I did the 2nd sim in my Galaxy 23, Optimum's 1g to test out for a few days to see if it will work for me. WOW! It died in the exact same area as "V" but for a shorter amount of Time. Now that's 1 day. I will see. But I have to say April Was AWESOME!!!! She know's Her STUFF!!!!! Thanks Again!!!!! read more

My wife went to the Sparta location to return some equipment and get a new SIM card for her phone. when she told the store manager that we were unhappy with the fiber optic connection the manager told her that she was wrong and that there are never any problems with the fiber optic service. The manager told my wife to get out of (her) store ! She would take the equipment or give her a new SIM card. Unbelievable! So rude and unprofessional. read more

Absolutely the worst provider of ANYTHING on planet earth. My internet service is spotty; on and off. I have, somehow, gotten through to a CSR twice. Neither speaks English that I can understand. Third call yielded a robot telling me how to reboot my modem. I've already done that. Twice. I was so hopeful that, once Optimum took over for Service Electric and Garage Door Opener Company, things would improve. Uh uh. If anything, it's worse. And this jerk town keeps renewing the contract. If I had a choice, I'd sign up with just about any other ISP. The only way to get rid of Optimum is to move away. read more

Should have been an Easy hook up. They had her waiting home all day- two days of which they no showed, sent five different guys, each left her apt a mess with scraps of cut cables, etc, each promised she'd have TV and still no tv! This company is the worst ever. They simply cannot upgrade you to any service without it being a problem. There is no manager to contact because they want it that way because they are the worst!!!!! Two days to try to upgrade to a DVR and still no upgrade after at least 2 hours of phone time and they transfer you to someone else without informing that person of what is going on so you have to start all over......apparently the joke is on me! read more

My experience with Optimum is so outrageously bad that I could not let them slide and felt I had to post about it. The TV service has been repeatedly interrupted so equipment was changed three times in hopes of resolving the issues. Unfortunately, there was no success. The internet service was increased from 100 to 200 and then to 300 Mbps but still is lacking. Spoke to representative who recommended a technician come out at no charge. Waited 3 hours for technician and learn "customer cancelled appointment" --- lies! Spoke to a supervisor who understood my upset and scheduled another technician. At the start of window, I called Optimum and was told appointment was scheduled. Waited 3 hours --- no technician --- called back and learn my appointment was cancelled. No phone call, no communication. Wanted to speak to two level above representative. After going through the whole ordeal and expressing my upset (call lasted an hour), the call was disconnected. They did not bother to call me back even though they asked for my best call back number at the start of the call. While I was considering leaving Optimum, there is now no question. Good-bye Optimum and hello Planet Networks and Hulu+ Live TV. If you can avoid Optimum, I strongly recommend it. I'm giving one star because you can't give none. read more
