I have the feeling this is going to be a long review. I've been using yelp for years, reading others' reviews, so I thought I would give back to the community by creating an account this summer. When I knew I had to come to this place, I immediately went on Yelp, but there was no recommended reviews. I knew there was something fishy about this place but I'm sad no one warned me against it!
My sweet mom knows how much I love facials, but she also believes I spend too much money on them. So she decided to get me a Groupon at this spa and only told me one week later, which made it impossible for us to get a refund. She also told me that she called to get some more information, but the person acted very rude with her over the phone.
That was not a good start at all. I called and told the woman I was on a tight schedule, which she didn't seem to understand, and she sounded very disorganized and inefficient, which already pissed me off. I got there and saw the woman (owner?) that does not look like the regular spa professionals I'm used to. The 'spa' is located on a floor of an office building, not the greatest ambiance.
On top of that, the whole process was rushed and very amateurish. 30 mins, I was in and out.
I work in the makeup industry and go to respectable spas as often as I can. I know what a good facial is. No steamer was used = no facial. To make things worse, the woman thought it would be a good idea to go on and on about some random topics and didn't seem to realize I didn't feel like talking, especially when her breath was over my face. When I want the facialist to communicate with me, I'm the one asking questions and I usually want to know what they are doing to my face. Sometimes, she would leave the room without saying anything! Did she wash her hands when she came back? I don't know.
At the end, I tried to convince myself it wasn't that bad since my poor mom got a Groupon, but I had the unpleasant surprise to be asked to pay taxes and tips! Tips are paid on the full service which was priced over $150. So, $45 from my own pocked on top of the Groupon. OMG! facial was a total rip off, and massage is NOT a full body massage but an arm massage, enjoyable only if you like people using their nails on your skin (gross!!). So, you pretty much end up paying as much as you would have paid in a luxury institution for a crappy facial!!! I can't even say that I got what I paid for this time.
I thanked my mom but honestly people, trust yelp and beware of spas with NO reviews! I hope I save a lot of readers from going through this awful experience. read more
