I researched a lot of trainers for months and kept going back to ORA Dog training . The board and training program was without a doubt the right choice for our family and I am so glad we did it . We found Bijan (ORA Dog Training) mostly by accident, as we were really concerned about our dog's behavior and needed someone we trusted to help. What a blessing it was that we found him! He and his team are kind and understanding. They recognize and intuitively adjust their approach based on their expert knowledge of dogs and their human parents! There is so much to share, but here is the bottom line: the training made a significant difference, and while not inexpensive, from our perspective, it was worth every penny. Is it tough leaving your dog/fur-baby with a 'stranger' for three weeks - it sure is. To help with our angst, we received regular video updates, and Bijan is extremely responsive when we sent messages/questions. This gave us comfort that he was in a loving environment (it is actually a family home). Our dog is far less anxious, and we are actually in charge of the relationship (in the past, it felt like he had trained us--and he had!). We also learned so much from Bijan in terms of why certain behaviors exist and how to work with your dog to ensure he does his job (which is, as we now understand, to be there for us, to be cute, cuddly, and well-behaved). Murray (our dog) is four years old, and we did not think it was possible to change his behaviors (growling, not listening, barking like crazy, etc.), but in just 21 days, he is no longer exhibiting the worst of those behaviors. After talking with him, I was sure that Bijan was the perfect trainer for Snoopy. Bijan did a great job training my dog. Snoopy is a wonderful dog, but she pulled on the leash, could never be taught to lie down, and could never be trusted to walk off-leash. In her enthusiasm, she also loved jumping on guests. We had our Oliver a miniature Australian Shepard for about two years. We expected a happy, active, confident dog. However, our Oliver was extremely anxious of everything. He would bolt, hide in bushes, shake uncontrollably on every "walk"...and "walk" meaning us trying to make it as fast as possible to the grass and back inside to not have any anxious meltdowns. He was scared of everything, people, sounds, signs, cars, wind (yes wind). It was exhausting and we tried everything. I was seeing some habits forming in my 1.5-year-old German Shepard-Poodle mix (Zuzu) that were becoming worrisome and that I knew could lead to bigger issues if not addressed properly and quickly. As a seasoned dog owner who had self-trained my dogs in the past I was pulling out all my skills, but I was making no progress with Zuzu's avoidance/shut-down/passively stubborn personality -very different than all the dogs I had trained in the past and was beyond my skill set. This coupled with the fact that I was now a full-time RVer and every 10 days I am in a new location/environment I had to be in a position to know and trust how Zuzu was going to respond in most situations and that I could handle issues when the came-up. After a ton of research and talking with other trainers I found Bijan (ORA Dog Training). I enrolled Zuzu in his 21-day Intensive Program and adjusted my schedule so I could be in Florida. Not even a full week after I dropped Zuzu off we went into COVID-19 shutdown. Bijan and his apprentices COMPLETELY transformed my two pitts Bravo (45lb) and Saint (65lb). Before, they were out of control, sometimes even lashing out at each other, and for Bravo, at pretty much anything that moved or made a sound she didn't recognize. While she still has some work to do really cinching the idea that everything isn't out to get her or her owners, she is so much less reactive and less anxious and able to self regulate even if she does have a slip up, we have had guests over and she has been a marvel compared to before, relaxed and more self assured. I was lucky enough to have met Bijan through a very close mutual friend, and had the opportunity to spend some quality time with him before even discussing dog training of any kind. One day, while complaining about my dog's pulling problem, Bijan and several other friends encouraged me to bring my beast to Bijan and the fix would be quick and simple. I have to admit I was a little skeptical at first, I had done a decent amount of research, am lucky to have a dog who is a fast learner, and (unbiasedly) pretty intelligent. To give you some additional color, I did not walk the beast, the beast 100% walked me. I was always nervous that he would see something of interest and take off without me being able to control him. Dangerous for both of us. Additionally, walking the beast was an absolute misery..until..our first session with Bijan. After just one session, a few quick walking and communication fixes, the beast was walking like the well behaved stud I knew he could be! He stands right at my side, no longer pulls me into every bush and towards every dog we meet - the transformation was INCREDIBLE. Working with Bijan over the subsequent weeks taught me that I really did not understand how to communicate properly with my dog, and that the messages I might be sending him - and he was sending me - were being misinterpreted on both ends. Not sure where to start but Bijan has been our saving grace. My husband and I rescued a 2.5 year old dog from the Manhattan ACC in the Spring of 2015. After meeting her and falling in love we brought her home. All of her behavioral tests were great per the shelter so did not think twice about adding her to our family. As soon as we got her to our apartment we quickly realized this was not the case and that this poor dog had been abused and was very fear aggressive with both people and other dogs. She was very ill with pneumonia when we adopted her so it was not until we nursed her back to health that her true personality and fears came through to their full extent.
