Orlando Weekly - 2010 Best of Orlando cover

Orlando Weekly

With the seemingly eminent demise of the Orlando Sentinel daily paper, we are left with Orlando's…read more'alternative paper,' the Weekly. It mostly focuses on entertainment, so if you need to know who's playing where and what the drink specials are, this is your up to date source. Of course, on the back pages you'll find lots of ads for "outcall masseuses" and phone sex lines, but it still has some interesting content. Steve Schneider is sometimes brilliant, Billy Manes is everyones favorite gay scenester, and Happytown and Council Watch can be a fascinating read. Be sure to take the restaurant reviews with a grain of salt, though; although well written, they tend to praise their advertisers. How can you complain, its published every Thursday and its FREE!

Not really a fan of many of the views within the paper or the public representations of some of the…read moremembers of this paper. The content is really kind of "one track mind", and customer relations and community feedback are ignored often, but if you want to know the best place in town for a beer, burger, or vegan hot dog.... this is the paper to read. Also, know the latest "best friends" in the local music and art scenes by reading the "best of " mentions or local reviews. Just don't forget that it's operating on mostly a buddy system and many fantastic artists in Orlando are often just not credited. Ear and eyes open for the under dogs! ;-) It's an alright ALTERNATIVE paper.

A Mediocre Time with Tom and Dan - A Mediocre Time with Tom and Dan

If you haven't tuned into A Mediocre Time with Tom and Dan then you need to!…read more The show is the brain child of Former Real Radio Genius Daniel Dennis and his Best Friend Tom. They play off of each others comedy, it's a little filthy, but a good kind of filthy not like creepy old man filthy. It's like sitting around the living room BSing with some friends. The topic range for the absurdly funny to crazy stories of hijinks and musings about life. They also have a news guy too, who is pretty cool. Ross. Sometimes they have special guest, like The Supervillians, or a comedian. If you listen you'll get sucked in and you'll wait for all week for the next show. But don't worry you can also decide to support the show by becoming a BDM member and you get 2 extra shows a week. The guys are hysterical, they make other radio shows seem like a snooze. Check it out. Snoots!

First, these guys are funny AF! If you're a touring comic,…read morethis should be your Must Stop place for an interview before your show. All the fans of Tom and Dan are also big fans of touring comedians and show up at the Improv and other local comedy clubs in droves after hearing your promotion on A Mediocre Time and A Corporate Time. I benefit in no way at all from my review except in the fact that I know I'm helping to promote my favorite radio podcast/show. I've been a fan of Dan for like 20 or more years. Tom is awesome too but Dan is really the comic brains that Tom plays off of. I have appreciated Dan's oddball references throughout his radio career and have felt like I was the only one who even heard him after most of his funny quips went unrecognized at his "quarry" job on terrestrial radio. But that's ok, I felt like I had the "in" on his secret jokes that very few people got. I can't tell you how many times I've been really down and depressed but listening to Tom and Dan made everything better just because they got me laughing again. Buy their documentary at TomAndDanMovie.com, support their show, be a BDM if you can afford $2.95 a month. You will be a part of the best radio listening community on the planet and will have access to extra content, BDM events and 2 free parties a year. I know this sounds like a commercial, and that's OK, because I want to promote but I haven't been paid, I swear. I just want to try to do what I can to keep these guys number one in the radio podcast world. These guys make my life better in a big way. Laughter is such a great way to deal with everything bad happening in this world and in my life. I don't know if this makes me sound like a loser or just a big fan but nearly all of my friends are BDMs. I'm part of this great community with inside jokes who are so supportive of each other and of the show. I thought being a fan of the Monsters was a great community of radio listeners (which I was a part of as well), but these guys bring it to another level all together. I can be awkward, shy and introverted but still have a great time at events because we all recognize that we're all just a bit off and that's not a bad thing, it can be celebrated with drinks and toots and great effing times. I'm a Scumbag, a Big Dick Millionaire (BDM) and an introvert with anxiety and social awkwardness, Hell Yeah, hear me roar...or something. #SFT
