You down wit OTT? Yeah, you know me. The 4 hour trip was not at all what I had expected, but it was fun nonetheless and I highly recommend the trip. First, I was getting mixed messages about the dangers and thrills. A guy at the hotel said it's a piece of cake. But one my friends had his cousin pop out of a raft, get stuck underneath, and came out with his eyes rolled back. But the website makes it sound super safe. But then I tore off all my fingernails as the guides went over safety protocol and would have started on the toes if I could have reached them. And then our raft went down the "Class IV" rapids with no problem. But the raft after us tipped over! So... what to think? Well, this stretch of river is safe and I believe the only true danger is NOT following protocol IF you tip over, which is feet up and facing down the river. And, though I thought the ride might be unstable, you're actually instructed to stop paddling, lean toward the middle, keep your feet braced, and hold on to handles, so nobody should be worried. Keep your fingernails. Second, I thought it was going to be tiring, but for 95% of the ride you are not paddling, which was a huge surprise. Most of the ride will be relaxing and/or conversing. For that reason, I recommend getting on Hayden's boat, if you have a choice. I told him he reminded me of Jeff Spicoli, but he was too young to get the reference so I changed it to Crush from Finding Nemo. Crush is basically a turtle version of Sean Penn's Spicoli. I am sure the other guides are awesome captains, too. Cora seemed to be playing more balancing games on her raft, and JP is the leader. It is not cheap, but I think it was a good value. The only complaints I have (none large enough to subtract stars) is that it's not clear where to pay the parking lot fee at Gold Hill and the description mentioned the distribution of snacks, and we didn't get any. Unless Hayden got the munchies and took them all?

Some people take shrooms in search of a life-changing experience. Others practice deep meditation to find their inner chi. We chose the Wild and Scenic 4-day camping/rafting trip and found what most search their entire lives for - adventure. We're not talking about a selfie-stick, room service type of adventure (although many awesome photos were taken). I'm talking pure adrenaline coursing through your veins as you approach the next class-3 rapid. You taste river water but your mind is locked on that cold IPA beer waiting for you at camp up ahead. Just when you can hear the beer can *pop* full of fizzy goodness, you're 3 feet under water in a washing machine set to "spin". Is this it? Is this my legacy? Before all hope is lost, a familiar face begins to emerge. I could see our guide, Elijah. He may as well have been glowing like a deity from ancient Greece, and with the strength of a thousand Herculeses he hoisted me up onto his kayak. Some would say I was reborn that day. Baptized by the Rogue River herself. As I sat in my kayak listening to the bald eagles tending to their young, I observed Becca (our 2nd guide) up ahead corralling our other companions like water buffalo to the prairie. We made it. As Nick shucked us an icy cold beverage from his gear raft, I could smell the feast Derek was fittin' to rile up. Maybe I was reborn...in a sense. Or maybe, just maybe, I had never really lived before my adventures with Orange Torpedo Trips.

My son and I took a full day Canyon Trip It was wonderful. Our guide was Jasmine (aka Disney) and she was the best!! The company took good care to meet our needs. Great outfit overall.

    Powerhouse IV!

I knew from the get go we wanted Cruz as our guide, and he didn't disappoint! We had a blast on the trip, level IV rapids/powerhouse was epic, Cruz handled it like a champ, guided us thru with success and fun, we surfed the waves in the prior rapid...acted as the safety boat for the last group, they flipped but AJ/guide was quick to get everyone on board and finish the trip with a round of applause from all the guests...lead guide not so much, kinda grumps. Big kuddos to Cruz, follow led by AJ - you boys rock!

Fabulous trip down the gold hill 1/2. Day route. Kalen our guide was fabulous. I highly recommend him and orange torpedo.

We did a half day morning rafting with my kid who did it for the first time. It was very easy rafting and my kid wanted to pedal more! It was 100 degrees today but we had a nice breeze on our entire trip and water cooled us down. All the staffs were very friendly and fun to talk to. During our trip, we saw some wild ducks and geese, bold eagles and a beaver! It was very relaxing and fun trip. My kiddo is ready for the next level rafting for sure!

I have a group of friends who do hiking trips together every few years, and this year we picked…read moreMorrisons Rogue River hike with support from guides on rafts. Booking the trip was relatively straightforward, but Morrisons highly encouraged us to do trip insurance because they don't offer refunds, which should've been the first red flag. Before I go too far, I do want to give a huge shout out to our guides Drew, Adam, and Johnny. They were amazing, and if I were rating just them, this review would be 5++ stars. They were friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, and genuinely cared about us and our hike. The rest of the Morrison's staff...not so much. There was an active wildfire in the area before we started the hike. We talked to Morrison's several times in the days leading up to the trip (before we flew out) and even asked about rebooking the trip for a different time, when the forest in the area wasn't on fire. We were assured that even though they were planning a few modifications to our itinerary (i.e. at least one day of rafting instead of hiking), they were confident that it would be a wonderful trip. Fast forward to the end of day 2 of our trip...and they had to cancel the rest of the 4-day hike due to safety concerns and, ultimately, a mandatory evacuation. To be clear, I'm not upset that we were pulled out of the woods, as that was an obvious safety decision. I'm mad because we specifically asked about rebooking for different dates and were told no. Morrison's got us back to their main lodge the following morning, at which point they considered themselves done with us. There was no refund, no help finding rooms for the night, and the last lodge we were in literally wouldn't even let us use the bathroom in the hour we were waiting for vans to get us back to safety. Morrison's did at least send us all an official email about the trip cancellation so that we could share that with our travel insurance (if we'd purchased it) to try to get a refund, but that was about it. Morrisons also made the guides tell us, rather than having anyone higher up in the company talk to us. From what we can tell, they also didn't do anything to help their guides (e.g. helping them find lodging) once the trip was canceled. I will also add that I'm vegetarian, and although there was a lot of very tasty vegetarian food available, vegetarian protein was extremely scarce. For dinner the two nights we hiked (~9 mi on day 1 and 15 mi on day 2), there was no source of vegetarian protein for me to eat. (The gluten free and dairy free people fared much better.) It would've been so easy to roast a portobello mushroom the way they roasted salmon, or to do some kind of meat substitute when they did ribs (they did have meat substitute at the lunches, and eggs or veggie patties at breakfast). I had brought some protein powder with me, but not enough to make up for dinners without protein. My friends ended up giving me the protein bars they'd brought for themselves to try to make up for the dinners. To Morrison's: please consider all macronutrients (carbs, fat, AND protein) when planning meals for your guests! Overall, I would absolutely go back to the river with any of the guides, but I'll never use Morrisons again, and I recommend that you don't either.

Rogue River is picturesque with just…read moreenough flat to make you appreciate the rapids and just enough rapids to make you appreciate the flat, with rapids variable enough to say "yeah, that was a 3-" by the end of the trip like you've been doing this not just three days. The best part of the trip was the crew! The crew - Kate, Nicole, Alec, Rachel, Ryan, Rudy, Cam - were all awesome and worked so very hard to make this trip incredible. As I was grumbling to myself that I had to get up at 7 am to drink my already-prepared coffee (with snacks) while waiting for my gourmet-level breakfast I didn't know was possible while camping - it occurred to me that the crew has already been up, have set up the breakfast snack table, brewed coffee, and are almost done with our breakfast. As I was grumbling about having to set up or put down the tent every day - I realized that the crew loaded and unloaded everything and set up camp and chairs before we even got to the site. They did all this without me noticing because the entire time they were friendly and kind and easy-going. These folks genuinely like being out, working together, on the river, sharing good vibes. If we could somehow bottle the enthusiasm, hard work, positive vibes they posses - all of world's problems would be solved. They set an excellent no non-sense (it *is* rapids and camping), fun, positive, uplifting and encouraging mood every single day. I felt safe under everyone's watchful eye. Everyone communicated clearly about what was expected from the river and from us (I'm an anxious person and this was such a big deal to me). Talking to other folks on this trip for whom this was not their first rafting adventure - apparently, once you go OARS, you don't go back. Seems like that company has figured out a way how to make great crews. Re-entering the real world has been tough. There's been 0 ospreys or bald eagles or turkey vultures (usually there's one or two or three somewhere around you on Rogue) on my morning walk and, dare I say - I miss "THE GROOVER". The most elegant, beautiful bathroom situation I have dealt with while camping. I also brought a semi-surly teenager against his will who, by the end, was begrudgingly "somehow" having a great time. This would absolutely not be possible without Kate, Nicole, Alec, Rachel, Ryan, Rudy, and Cam and the vibes they have set up. If I had all the money in the world, these guys would be flown out to anywhere they wanted to be so I can have rafting adventures with them there.. but for now, I just already want to go back to the Rogue and this time make it through the Coffee Pot without being thoroughly percolated.
