I made reservations for a friend and I to celebrate my 46th birthday. Upon arriving I was blown away by the beauty of the establishment. You can see they really put a lot of effort into making the place beautiful and charming. Once we entered the restaurant we were greeted by a server who was pleasant and welcoming. I believe her name was Christy. She was very knowledgeable about the history of the lodge and even the kind of trees in the area. It was all so intriguing. We were ushered onto a deck that over looked the rogue river with beautiful mountains the background. there were all kinds of wildlife just out and about, a doe with her two young, geese, wild turkeys...it was incredible. Once seated, another server I think her name was delanie came and brought us these things called orange rolls, which I have to say are by far the most delectable thing I've probably ever eaten in my life. She also took our drink order and asked if we wanted soup or salad. i chose soup which was delicious and my friend had the salad with which she raved about being the best salad she'd ever eaten. It all came from the garden the tend to up the road. No sooner than us finishing them our plates were cleared and within 5 minutes or so our entree's were served along with the lemon drops we ordered from the bartender Haily who was just amazing. We had the premium steaks that were seated on top of mashed potatoes and candied carrots. I've never had a better steak in my life. It just melted in my mouth. Each thing on the beautifully put together meal was a masterpiece by its self, but the flavors together complimented each other in such an exquisite way. The lemon drops were phenomenal as well. Just like with the soup and salad as soon as we were done our plates were cleared and we were served dessert shortly after. And once again the beauty of the dish was quite impressive. The chefs here definitely take their job to a whole new level. I had the chocolate plum cake and my friend had this apple bacon thing. They were so sweet and had a little happy birthday thing on my cake as well as lighting a little candle for me to blow out and make a wish. Of course with every bite came a burst of flavors that were so perfect together that I just wanted to savor it and take in each moment. Before leaving we went to thank the chef her name was Blanca , she was so kind and really happy we enjoyed the food so much. Well 8 years later we are back, with our 7 year old joining us this time! And yeah, it's gonna be another long review so might as well have a seat and put your reading glasses on for this one! I guess since we are from Hawaii where it's hot all year long, we didn't think about how cold it would be in the fall and that there wouldn't be the same activities we had done on our first trip here 8 years ago when we were here during late summer. Nevertheless, we had a great time. We stayed in Tuck Away 3 again and this time we stayed for TWO nights! You know what that means too right? TWO NIGHTS OF ORANGE ROLLS!!! I was sooooo looking forward to the orange rolls at dinner. Dinner was inside this time, I guess because it's fall and we would all be freezing eating outside on the deck. It was still a multi course meal where you have to choose your options ahead of time, when making your reservation. They also have a few options for kids so my son got spaghetti one night and a cheeseburger with fries on the 2nd night. He was also still served all the other courses which was a nice surprise! The first night, dinner was: Course 1: Prime rib crostini (sooo good, even my son ate all of his!) Course 2: Orange rolls (y.u.m.) Course 3: Tortilla soup (delicious. The cook even put extra cheese on my son's soup, he absolutely loved it) Course 4: Pork loin and chicken. Both with mashed potatoes and vegetables. My husband had the pork and I had the chicken. I'm not a big mashed potatoes fan but these were yummy! And my sons spaghetti was made with angel hair pasta and altho it was a very large serving, he did a great job on it. Course 5: Cheesecake with blueberries. One of the servers, Rihanna, was just amazing, she brought my son some vanilla ice cream (his favorite) because he was not a cheesecake fan. The second night of dinner was: Course 1: Potstickers with sweet chili sauce. Since I chose the vegetarian entree option, I got vegetarian potstickers which were really yummy! I could taste black beans inside which I love. The regular potstickers had pork, also yummy. Course 2: Orange rolls Course 3: Broccoli cheddar soup Course 4: Eggplant Parmesan and shrimp scampi with linguini. Flank steak was also an option but I chose the vegetarian option tonight which was the eggplant. Course 5: Creme brûlée. My spoiled child was given vanilla ice cream again from Rihanna, she already had it ready for him! Service at dinner both nights was nothing short of amazing. We were lucky to have Rihanna serving both nights we were there, she was quick, attentive, and very kind. Kelly and Christy and the rest of the kitchen staff were awesome too, this would be a nice place to dine even if you weren't staying at the lodge! We had a lovely dinner on the deck that was epic. The food was amazing and the service was wonderful. They offer a rotating menu of two choices of entrees. Last night was Duck or Steak. We chose the steak. It was cooked to perfection. The classic orange rolls are to die for as noted in Sunset Magazine. They offer fresh vegetables that are grown on site in their own gardens. We will return again and again as Matt Garcy is an amazing chef and the staff are awesome! read more

This is an interesting place-in a good way! This is a full service place. Meaning you can entertain yourself with a pool table, table tennis, some exercise equipment...yet eat, buy items in a little gift shop, and sit out near the river and enjoy nature! It's a bit of a drive to town and dinner, so it's not a bad idea to get dinner at the hotel. It's one service nightly, and everyone sits at the same time, similar to a cruise ship. You let the hotel know ahead of time if you will be joining for breakfast or dinner so they can plan accordingly. I enjoyed the food, and loved the view! I didn't mind the accommodations, they were clean and felt more like a home than a hotel room. I honestly wish I had stayed a day longer just to make more use of the property, rather than just using it as a place to sleep after my rafting trip. The area is serene and peaceful. After a scrumptious lunch at the Morrison's Lodge, we headed down the manicured lawns to our awaiting river raft. Our guide, Andrew, walked us through a quick and easy safety briefing (humor was appreciated!) we boarded up. With Morrison's Rogue Wilderness Adventures, I felt that I was in safe hands throughout our journey down the river. We were given the interesting story of the waterway and the land on either side as well. Overall, I would recommend this as an easy rafting experience to enjoy and remember. read more

We booked for a weekend and prepaid for dinners and fishing. When we showed up the my son reacted to the room. He's allergic to dogs and his eyes swelled shut and his breathing was labored. The room was dank and smelled like a dog. They wouldn't refund us our dinners or fishing even though we had booked them all the day we checked in. We didn't ask for a refund of the room. read more

In addition to the cozy cabins, manicured grounds and strolling distance to the Rogue River, there is an amazing restaurant. The dinner meal is 4 courses, including a 50 year old tradition of Orange rolls. The Chief, Matthew Garcy, is very creative in his presentation, and with that creativity comes delightful combinations of foods. Matthew grows a garden, using the produce in his food combinations. Totally tasteful and beautiful as well. As an aside, Matthew is married to Heather, who is attentive, polite and a very capable server. We found them a delightful young couple. Pros-friendly staff, beautiful view of the river from the lodge, yummy dinners. Cons-confused staff (have a key to our room to another arriving guest the second day we were there, repeatedly served two of our party gluten based meals when we had told them that gluten free was our only option), could hear those on the adjacent cabin connected to ours as clear as if they were in our room (stayed in Tuck Away #2), breakfast was awful (charged $14 per meal but it was worth $7 at best), could use some cosmetic love (trim water damaged in bathroom badly), queen bed we slept in was so sunken in the middle that my husband and I had to put pillows in between us so we wouldn't be rolling into the center all night...cost over $2k for 5 ppl to stay and eat for 2 days plus a couple hours of rafting, not sure if I feel we really found value of the trip matching the cost. read more

WE visited in October for a quick getaway. Restaurant was poor, when making reservations weeks before we had a choice of fish but days before they called and said no fish that week. Our steak was average at best, service was less than average, breakfast was horrible. The room was basic, the grounds are beautiful and much to do. The worst was the heater was as loud as NASCAR race car. All night off and on, we did not sleep until we chose to be cold and turn off heater. When we told staff at checkout we were dismissed, staff stated they knew about it and repairs will be made in the next season. We felt it was a tough shi*t response. Place has great potential. Got to stay at a new accommodation called Treetops which was great. We have been to Morrisons several times before and are always pleased with the experience and willingness of staff to make sure we are comfortable. The Treetops is a house with a full kitchen , grand master bedroom , multiple additional rooms , deck and striking views across the valley. It was so roomy it seems like you could have had 12 people stay in the house. We will definitely stay here again. Almost forgot to mention the view from the living room through the vast cathedral style windows is breathtaking and makes you feel like you are in the treetops.....probably where they got the name ;) read more

First of all, let me preface this with by saying that the grounds here are absolutely gorgeous and over all the lodge is really nice. On one hand, I understand that you are paying for the historical elements of this place. But on the other hand, I don't see that this is a $210 per night resort. At most, I would feel better paying about $100 for this room. We had a spider living in here with us, and I think that something bit me on my foot as I was sleeping. The windows are filthy, the balloon valances above your head where you sleep are super dusty. We were afraid to lower the drapes because we didn't want all the dust to drop on our heads. The wallpaper is peeling. The air-conditioner did not work and we had to figure out how to make it work because the staff didn't know (FYI, if you stay in this room and can't get the thermostat to work, try the breaker switch on the plug-in). This morning we went down to have breakfast and the night before the front desk forgot to mention that we would need to make a reservation. No big deal, we went down to the restaurant and the waitress sent us back to the front desk to make the reservations. There was no one staffing front desk; as if they didn't show up that day (we aren't sure- we called the Front desk earlier about something else and no one answered). Finally, the waitress just let us eat in the restaurant; it felt a little awkward like she was put out by it (not like she was upset with us, just like she was a little frazzled because a bunch of people started coming in looking for food and not being able to access the front desk staff). Also, when we checked in the night before, the front desk staff told us that there would be no problem if we wanted to have a late check out because we didn't get there until after 6 PM. The next day the front desk staff didn't want us to have a late check out. They made us feel like they would be put out to give us what they offered us. We are not new to staying at nice places. We travel quite a bit and have easily stayed at 15 or more hotels in the last year alone (in different parts of the country) so I feel like we know what we should get for our money. I would have no problem paying in the $100 range for this but I expect much more for the price. read more

We have gone to Morrison's Lodge for years for the salmon and steelhead fishing. If you go the right time of year the fishing on the Rogue is great. The guides provided by Morrison's are friendly, very capable and can accommodate anglers of any experience level. This year my (new) wife and I were trying to decide on a unique and beautiful place to get married, and decided on Morrison's. We could not have made a better choice. Lesley, who manages the place with her husband, was very helpful and accommodating throughout the process. We had the ceremony and reception on the huge lawn next to the river. About 35 people from across the country attended and they were awestruck by the beauty of the place and how nice the staff was. The buffet Morrison's prepared was excellent, as was the service. Weeks later we are still getting compliments about it. Our wedding was in June, which is not the best time of year to fish there, but we tried it anyway and caught a few trout. It's hard to miss with those guides. Our 20-something kids did the half-day raft trips and had a blast. They are already talking about making another trip up there. Morrison's is not a fancy hotel. It is a bit isolated and primarily caters to fishing and rafting. They have developed a very nice restaurant. The lodging is comfortable, but I recommend you stay away from the rooms in the lodge itself (rather small) and immediately behind it (too noisy). The other rooms are quiet and comfortable. If you want some extra privacy, check out the "tuckaway" cabins located near a stream across the road. That's where we usually stay. I highly recommend Morrison's for the fishing, the lodging and the food. read more

Did the four day stay and guided fishing trip for three day package with three friends of mine...here is my experience for you to chew on. The most important part: Fishing. I had Spey-Casting Darrel, Darrel who fishes near the dam, and Nate...just Nate. ALL were fantastic. I can only speak for these three guides but they were amazing. Treat them with respect and they're there to help you have an epic day even if you don't catch one fish. Remember to tip these individuals for their knowledge and hard work rowing your ass around and tying your flys. Cabins: Everything you need, and more. Ours had two bedrooms and two small beds per room. Kitchen area adequate. Fankly, we only needed a place to store several cases of beer and four bottles of scotch and whiskey. Cleaning crew: the only hiccup in our stay as one day the room was half made up and the dishes (glasses) weren't washed...oh well. Grounds crew: friendly and informative...and do an amazing job. Grounds: just a great view of the Rogue...lots of lawn space for sitting, casting, yard games, or whatever... place has a pool and a tennis court...and a basketball court...oh, and an outdoor game room... I was too tired to partake in any of that. Lodge: Very..., ...lodgy. Very comfortable. Grub: Really damn good especially when you consider the kitchen staff and chef have to get 20-40 dishes out every course at pretty much the exact same time...just spot on. There are vegetarian options and you will not leave hungry. Our ONLY miss was the duck, one was great one was tough, but understandable considering how hard duck would be to do for 20 people, at once. We met up with the chef after dinner one night as he brought ice to the room...great guy who knows his stuff. You should thank him if you get the chance. He also cooked up for the whole lodge a steelhead we caught earlier...he did that fish justice. Staff: Blond bartender, forgot her name, maybe Stephanie, was fantastic...great host too, she will get you what you need and is always friendly. Jennifer in the morning is also spot on. The managerial staff is also really good at taking care of everything you need. ... hmm, what else?... Go, have a great time, bring only your clothes and a good mood. The place is beautiful, the lodge is great, yes, it would be nice to reel in 4 steelhead every day, but this outfit will make it possible to have a great day even if you don't get one nibble. Oh yeah, NO cell service for anyone but US Cellular...and wifi only at the lodge. Rooms have ethernet connections. read more

Just got back from a most fantastic trip with my 14 and 11 year old boys. We did the three day lodge river rafting trip which was spectacular! The guides, John, Larry, Pete, Hannah and Dave were the absolute best. They made sure all of our needs were met and made the river rafting trip and vacation that me and my son's will always remember. Great memories! Loved Black Bar Lodge and Meril's Lodge on the river. Saw a bear, bald eagles, turtles, salmon fish swimming upstream!, and lots of birds. Morrison's Lodge is fantastic! Excellent food, great accommodations. Stayed the first night in the main lodge and our last night there in Tucked Away which is a short walk or golf cart away. It was the best! The food is what makes this trip heaven. The Orange Rolls (applause!) are to die for. Had fish one night and ribs another. Breakfast was bacon and eggs.. always fresh and delicious. This review is only for the restaurant. We live close by and have been here a couple of times. That was before I was a Yelper. We loved it before and we're anxious to go back. It is an absolutely beautiful setting and a bit pricey, so we keep it for very special occasions. Reservations are a must. On their website you pick the date you want and then choose from 3 entree choices. All other courses are the same for everyone and the cost is listed at between $30 and $42. Dinner is at 7:00 pm sharp. We arrived at 6:30 to have drinks. My husband had a double Makers Mark and I had a glass of Savignon Blanc. That was $34. The wine was $18 for a glass! I realize cost is subjective, but to these retired working folks, that was a bit of a shock. Oh well, it was our anniversary, let's live it up. The duck pot stickers were fabulous! Loved them. The salad was pretty uninspiring. The orange rolls are to die for!!! My pasta primavera was excellent... except several dried out strands of pasta on top...like it had been sitting for a while. My husband's prime rib was flavorful and tender...BUT overcooked and thin. Neither were $40 entrees which is what we were charged. We just were just a bit disappointed and that is the reason for only 4 stars. We will definitely go back, because it is a unique dining experience, with very pleasant wait staff. But the corkage fee is only $10...so next time it will be my own wine! read more

This is definitely the place to take out of towners for dinner to really impress them. The food is excellent. The menu changes nightly and is so good. Their orange rolls, that are served nightly, are awesome. It's a bit pricey and you have to make reservations, but it's definitely worth it. I am a 12 year veteran of the Morrison Rogue River Lodge Trip and can tell you we have had many great years. However, in the last two years, those fabulous dinners and to die for orange rolls are no longer... The dinner and famous breakfast were terrible and the orange rolls dry and cold. We didn't even ask for seconds. What happened to the family style breakfast being traded in for Holiday Inn express? I noticed the cost certainly didn't go down but the food quality sure did. I don't mind pricey but not for what was served. This is based on our last two trips with Morrison's and hardly makes it worth it. Even though it is convenient for rafters to stay at the lodge, the room rates for rafters have become ridiculous. The guides were our savior to a happy ending. The rafting was always wonderful and guides spectacular which was always the main reason we kept going with Morrison's. The reservations staff has always been kind and accommodating and we appreciate your professionalism. Unfortunately, I was recently informed that the head guide, who was responsible for all the wonderful things that made our rafting experience enjoyable is gone. This is a very costly mistake made by Morrison's. I am sickened by it. I seriously question their stability in the industry. Sadly disappointed in Seattle. read more

Positives - the natural beauty of the surroundings are just gorgeous and the dinners on the deck are very good and wait staff (Jake) very upbeat and friendly. Our fishing guide, Ray Slusser was just great and extremely knowledgeable. Christine at the front desk was the most kind and helpful. Negatives - do not let them put you in Cabin 10. It is directly adjacent to the exercise (training machines) / game (ping pong and foosball) area, so it is constantly noisy until 10pm. There is also a big mercury vapor light right outside the cabin window to light the game area that shines in until 10pm. There is also a public bathroom and shower underneath Cabin - so early morning you will be woken up by people using the bathroom and raft guides barking orders to groups. Room itself is just OK - very spartan with two twin beds - we had spiders in the room. Not even close to being worth $239 per night. More on par with Motel 6 (about $75 - $90 per night). The reservation staff needs to be upfront about this to let people decide if they want to put up with all this and not surprise guests. Negatives - boxed food for breakfast was not good. Two hard boiled eggs, two mini sweet rolls and a mini yogurt cup. We were charged for the full breakfast buffet, plus gratuity. That was just plain not right. Negatives - automatic gratuity charged for breakfast buffet. We had the breakfast buffet on last morning prior to leaving. While the food is your average breakfast buffet - there is zero service provided that warrants earning/charging a gratuity. We got all of our food and all of our drinks - didn't have a wait staff person speak to us until we were leaving and they started clearing the table. Negatives - if fishing, get your fishing license prior to getting to the Resort. After taking all of our information - the front desk called later and said they were offline so we would have to get our fishing licenses ourselves. Had to drive back into town (about 16 miles round-trip) to a convenience store to get the licenses. Overall - general hotel management seems to be an issue; most of front desk staff and maintenance staff gives the impression the guests are an annoyance; and the resort is physically tired and in need of remodeling / upgrades to charge the prices they want. read more

We have used Morrison's for group trips many times. But this last trip was definitely not the quality we are used to. The staff now could care less. No one seems to know what is going on and they don't follow thru with information. The meals at Morrison's have drastically declined. We used to rave about them. We had two guides, Russell and Bob. Russel talked about himself the entire time, and bad mouthed Bob at every opportunity, which we all found bothersome. We found Bob to be amazing, with interesting stories about life on the river. He was the highlight. I understand there are new management/owners and it shows, and not in a good way!Bring back Zac , Larry and crew to save yourselves. Other lodges we stayed on this trip were as amazing as in the past and helped to increase our enjoyment of the trip. You can access those lodges through other companies without using Morrison's. We have just returned form 2 nights at Morrison's and can't wait to go back. This was our second stay there. We had a really nice room with working fireplace and comfy king size bed. The small refrigerator worked fine and a leather lounge chair was great for reading beside the fire. Nice view over the river form our room, too. This room even had several excellent lamps for reading--a big plus. The dinner we had on Friday was equal to San Francisco's best and half the price. Ample buffet breakfasts with lots of choices but only the waffles left room for improvement. This is a friendly, comfortable lodge staffed by exceptionally nice, capable people. The setting is beautiful and quiet. A nice spot for a romantic get-away. read more

We came here for the Mother's Day brunch. I had called 2 weeks prior to make reservations for the four of us. We got there right on time and we're asked to wait another 5 minutes for them to get our table ready. Okay that's fine. We were seated inside by the window which was great. The gal that sat us gave us very vague directions on how the brunch worked and walked away. Didn't take drink orders or anything like that. We all went up to get food and they were out of pretty much everything. They had some of the meats(bacon, sausage, etc..) but no salmon except for a few crumbs at the bottom of the tray and no eggs Benedict at all. Pretty disappointing considering I had made reservations. I would think if they are aware people are coming at a certain time they would make sure they had food. So we eat what we could and went back several times to check if they had put more out. They did but not much so it got picked over quickly. The salmon was gone the entire time. They ran out of coffee multiple times. Which is probably for the best considering the stuff I was able to get tasted like bleach. The food we got to eat was acceptable. The wait staff was underwhelming The property is beautiful so at least they have that going for them. read more

Just returned from a three night stay at Morrison's Lodge. It was an amazing family experience, great staff, relaxing, and a picture perfect location. You know that your children have had a great time when they are planning their next visit. I am glad that we could still include the meal plan (dinner and breakfast) with out stay. Did a 3 day lodge rafting trip with my wife and son. The guides were absolutely the best! They really took care of us. We had four guides on our trip taking three rafts with passengers and one with gear. The guides we had on our raft were John, Larry and Greg. They were all good natured, and had many stories to tell on the way down the river (although I don't believe all of them). The gear boat was always ahead of us, and when we stopped for lunch, it was all set up and ready to eat. Evenings were spent at lodges that were very nice considering the locations. The food was great and plentiful. I put on 4 pounds in 3 days! The guides refer to the trip as a "Float and bloat". You will not go hungry. On day two, the guides broke out the inflatable kayaks, and let whoever was game to use them. They kept them out for the majority of the last two days as long as people wanted to use them. The only disappointment was beyond the control of our guides. The water level was very low for early July (1200 cfs), and what should have been class 4 rapids were barely a 3. I rafted this river a few times many years ago, and bigger water is much more fun. read more
