I have a group of friends who do hiking trips together every few years, and this year we picked Morrisons Rogue River hike with support from guides on rafts. Booking the trip was relatively straightforward, but Morrisons highly encouraged us to do trip insurance because they don't offer refunds, which should've been the first red flag. Before I go too far, I do want to give a huge shout out to our guides Drew, Adam, and Johnny. They were amazing, and if I were rating just them, this review would be 5++ stars. They were friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, and genuinely cared about us and our hike. The rest of the Morrison's staff...not so much. There was an active wildfire in the area before we started the hike. We talked to Morrison's several times in the days leading up to the trip (before we flew out) and even asked about rebooking the trip for a different time, when the forest in the area wasn't on fire. We were assured that even though they were planning a few modifications to our itinerary (i.e. at least one day of rafting instead of hiking), they were confident that it would be a wonderful trip. Fast forward to the end of day 2 of our trip...and they had to cancel the rest of the 4-day hike due to safety concerns and, ultimately, a mandatory evacuation. To be clear, I'm not upset that we were pulled out of the woods, as that was an obvious safety decision. I'm mad because we specifically asked about rebooking for different dates and were told no. Morrison's got us back to their main lodge the following morning, at which point they considered themselves done with us. There was no refund, no help finding rooms for the night, and the last lodge we were in literally wouldn't even let us use the bathroom in the hour we were waiting for vans to get us back to safety. Morrison's did at least send us all an official email about the trip cancellation so that we could share that with our travel insurance (if we'd purchased it) to try to get a refund, but that was about it. Morrisons also made the guides tell us, rather than having anyone higher up in the company talk to us. From what we can tell, they also didn't do anything to help their guides (e.g. helping them find lodging) once the trip was canceled. I will also add that I'm vegetarian, and although there was a lot of very tasty vegetarian food available, vegetarian protein was extremely scarce. For dinner the two nights we hiked (~9 mi on day 1 and 15 mi on day 2), there was no source of vegetarian protein for me to eat. (The gluten free and dairy free people fared much better.) It would've been so easy to roast a portobello mushroom the way they roasted salmon, or to do some kind of meat substitute when they did ribs (they did have meat substitute at the lunches, and eggs or veggie patties at breakfast). I had brought some protein powder with me, but not enough to make up for dinners without protein. My friends ended up giving me the protein bars they'd brought for themselves to try to make up for the dinners. To Morrison's: please consider all macronutrients (carbs, fat, AND protein) when planning meals for your guests! Overall, I would absolutely go back to the river with any of the guides, but I'll never use Morrisons again, and I recommend that you don't either. read more

Do yourself and family a favor and take one of they're trips. We did the 4 day 3 night and it went too fast. No phones or tv, just back to nature. waking up to the sound of rolling river, fantastic meals prepped for you, have not been this relaxed for a long time. The guides bend over backwards making sure this is a trip you will not forget. Kayaking the rapids was incredible, or just floating the currents in our life jackets. Only hard part is coming back to reality. Definitely great value for the price. read more

We did a three day rafting trip lodge stay and had a wonderful time! The guides were excellent, answered all our questions, and took care of everything. They were knowledgeable about the history of the area, the flora, fauna, ecology, and obviously the River. They showed us great swimming holes and set up wonderful lunches along the river. My wife and I had a phenomenal 4 day supported hiking / rafting trip along the Rogue with guides Brent and Drew. These guys were incredible - kind, empathetic souls who made the trip a joy while ALSO being great communicators, the best raft captains we saw on the river, and gourmet cooks (the camp dinner they put together was the best meal we had on a trip full of great meals). We did the vast majority of the trip hiking in parallel with the rafts, which ported all our gear except day packs. We were always in touch by radio in case we were to need something. Traveling light like this gave us the freedom to truly enjoy the hike. We had never done a "supported hike" before, and were honestly a little nervous that it was going to feel claustrophobic compared to our typical journeys on our own. However, it was quite the opposite. We never felt rushed or delayed, the whole flow of the trip was very natural and we were glad to be part of the group. The other folks on the trip were wonderful, fun people that truly added to the experience. The scenery along the river was spectacular and ever-changing. The lodging was great, particularly Paradise Lodge, where we stayed the last night. And all a great value for a trip we will never forget. I would highly recommend this trip... in fact, already have to a few family members! read more

Beautiful & remote! Nice to be disconnected from electronics and connected with nature & people. The hiking was beautiful, challenging in a technical way: not a lot of elevation but narrow trail along the cliff, high above the river, rocky terrain, and creek crossings made the adventure an adventure! Had a fabulous day on the river with my teenaged nephews. We did the full day -- morning is pretty much a drift, nice and cool, enjoy the scenery through basalt formations and forest, and afternoon is hotter, faster, and wetter. Lots of opportunities to kayak solo, swim, or just chill. I don't know when I've ever been so relaxed. The guides are super knowledgeable about local history and kayaking, helpful, and fun. My nephews loved it as well and we'd go again, anytime! read more

The guides!!! They were amazing, while they made it seem like it was an easy job it was anything but! First, they did an excellent job caring for our safety, and the set up everyday was beyond what we do at home. We got to a lunch spot and they'd have chairs set up, a full and plentiful spread with choices for gluten free or even just the more picky eaters. Dinners were delicious and they even had dessert every night. They were clean when preparing food, washing their hands often. Of and the first day, they noticed that we were early risers and offered to have coffee earlier if we wanted. The equipment was good, I can't compare to anything since this was my first rafting experience but there were no issues along the way. The duckies were a kick and Drew was careful to give detailed explanations on maneuvering the rapids (although I didn't follow them well, I was still okay). They also brought a ton of water and kept it cool, we could add Gatorade as we wished. 100% A+ read more

Our trip with Morrison's Rogue River rafting this past July was an amazing experience. Our guides, Brent, Gregg and Karmen were highly skilled professionals who managed a group, that were not always respectful, with kindness, generosity and humor. The wild and scenic part of the Rogue River is beautiful and awe inspiring. The guides were a terrific team who pointed out special views and handled unique experiences with calm grace. This included sightings of three bears, one of whom appeared to be considering joining us for lunch! They also provided food and accommodations that added to the experience. This was a first time rafting experience for 3 out of the 4 of us. So, the newbies were both excited and nervous. The Company was responsive, easy to work with, and provides so much detailed information to help you prepare for your adventure. We felt ready to roll! We booked the afternoon half day rafting. It was class 2 and 3. We were served lunch on the patio, given a short but effective course as well as getting fitted for our vests. Our guide, Hailey was also the leader that day, our "mama duck".She was so nice and very experienced. We had a great day on the water. We all felt safe. 3 of us even tried the kayaks. It was an awesome experience and one we plan on repeating. The rapids were perfect for families, newbies and just a scenic and relaxing but fun day on the river. We did the 40 mile lodge to lodge hike supported by rafts along the Rogue River trail. The experience challenged us and taught us about the beauty and history of the Rogue River Wilderness. We also met some terrific new friends and guides. Hiking distance is about 10 miles a day and you can opt to ride the rafts at anytime during your trip. The lodge food is amazing and accommodations are simple. Can't say enough about guides Joshua Blu, Danielle and Rafa. The guides are ready and willing to assist you and are so well trained and skilled We felt very safe and cared for. I would do it again for sure! This is the Glamping of River Rafting! We went on a 3-day, 2-night adventure. I can't say enough great things about the staff and the extent which they went to to make our vacation completely awesome! Everything was so well planned and well organization. The meals were filling and nutritious. The equipment (tents, sleeping pads, potty, etc.) was super clean and well maintained. Out crew: Joshua (JB!), Danielle, Drew, Mike, Kevin, Ryan were outstanding. They kept us safe (even when one of our rafts popped on a sharp rock), they provided humor, history of the gorge, set-up and broke-down our camps, cooked and cleaned up for us and all-in-all made it a lifetime bucket list check mark! Of course, the beauty of the Rogue Gorge pretty much speaks for itself. If you are considering rafting on the Rogue, Morrison's is the company to go with. Giving Morrisons guided rafting trips, a five star due to our guide been everything that we hoped for. He was kind ,helpful, and made us feel very safe the entire time. By the end of the trip, I felt like he was part of the family. However, I would not have given Morrisons a five star if it was for one of his coworkers which was a guide as well, I believe his name is Donnie possibly Donald light blonde longer hair. He waited for Rip (our guide) to catch up to his boat at one point as we were all relaxing and talking and listening to soft music and once we did catch up, he asked our guide if he knew how to row a boat in front of not only all of us, but his entire boat full of customers as well he went on to demean him in front of everybody. No matter what the situation was he should've showed maturity & professionalism and did it a different way. We didn't appreciate it one bit. Not only did he make us feel uncomfortable. He was rude to our guide and put our guides mind in a different place while rowing our boat, and that was not smart. All in all he just seemed like a bully and nobody appreciated it. But hands-down Rip was the best rafting guide we have ever had and we have lived in Oregon since 1974. read more

FANTASTIC! This is a great group. Safety first and fun second. The guides, (Joshua Blue, Mike, Soren, Kevin) were so skilled at making our trip a memorable experience. They even Cook! The river was wild yet in the capable hands of the guides a peaceful, awe inspiring float. The lodges were on the rustic side but more than adequate for our hiking group. We did an encore of the lodge to lodge 4 day trip....it is one of the best things you can do. Great trail, great food , and very helpful and warm guides. It is a 40 mile trail, but you can jump in the boats anytime for rapids and scenery. The lodges are also very unique. read more

Fun afternoon white water rafting with our granddaughters on the Rogue River. 9 and 11 year old girls really enjoyed white water and our guide allowed them to jump in a few times where water was calm and glassy... very careful. We even practiced using our safety instructions pulling them back in. We ran several class 2 and one class 3 rapid. Perfect length. Our guide was engaging and knowledgeable about that river segment. Only reason this review didn't get a 5 was their kick-off lunch at Morrisons lodge shared with full day rafters was lame. Fatty ham and super dried out bread. We rented 1 raft equipped with gear and 1 toilet for our 3 1/2 day raft trip. We set an arrangement time for boat launch and after a 3+ drive arrived 1/2 hour late. Charged $45.00 Discovered we were camping too far from the sitting raft the first night and put us in a predicament of responsibility that was too high risk for theft or damage to raft. Staff during arrangements could've informed us of this problem, as there is a $5,000 damage deposit. We were informed that the scat station was working at the takeout and we were responsible for emptying and returning it clean. At the takeout the machine was not working. Came back to the office at 4:00 to be told that we could drive it to the next site, pay $25.00 and return it the next day. Or, charge us $50.00 to take care of it. Overall- we payed extra $45.00 for late fee, $40.00 for change in boat shuttle, $50.00 in toilet issue. Total cost was a $1,000. 1 boat, 1 toilet. read more

My spouse and I just had our very first rafting trip back in May with Rogue Wilderness. We did the full day trip. We were quite fortunate that, with it being so early in the season, we were the only ones there. We had the guide and raft completely to ourselves. This was an experience we will never forget! Our guide, Gerald, was simply outstanding! He exceeded our expectations in every way and we couldn't be more thankful. He knew all the ropes of rafting and had an incredible amount of knowledge about the river itself including the history as well as the wildlife that calls the river home. He took the time to point things out to us we might have otherwise missed and even had an exceptional sense of humor. He truly made the trip wonderful for us. Just returned from an amazing 3 day/ 2 night (camp and lodge)trip. Our leader, Russell as well as the whole crew, were informative, friendly, accommodating and professional. Our guide, Micah was a treat! He went out of his way for us to have the best experience. MRWA has done these trips for a long time and everything about it was perfect. They do all the planning; setting up camp, etc. The meals were fantastic!! Accommodation and meals at Paradise Lodge were great too. I can highly tecommend this company! They were all over the patio and attracted to my sandwich so I had to leave the food there and walk away. But the guide was entertaining and knowledgeable about the area and river. We did the 3 day camping/rafting trip with my 12 and 14yr old boys. Gabby, Forrest and JoshuaBlue were amazing guides! They were super knowledgeable about local history and now my 12yr old wants to be a river guide! Did the full-day trip on the Rogue with Morrison's for the second year in a row and had another incredible time. Both years we were lucky enough to get Pat as a guide and he is just the best. I choose them because hey bring IKs to share for no extra charge. Such fun to run rapids on your own with the safety of a big raft in front of and behind you and to not being committed to paddling all day yourself. This trip I was in the IK for Hellsgate and it was unforgettable. The other reason we choose them is I love the stop for lunch at Morrison's Lodge. That lunch on their patio is just so lovely and the food is so very, very good. read more
