I have been to Orangevale Barber Shop twice now and am so pleased with both experiences. Will is such a kind and patient man who does a great job cutting hair and is so sweet with the kiddos. The first time I brought my eleven-year-old son in and explained what my son wanted and what I wanted as far as him being presentable for school. Will tried to make us both happy and he succeeded. Today, I brought in my 15-month-old and he gave him a nice, short cut that looks amazing. The prices are not much more than Great Clips, but what you get in exchange for paying a little more is well worth it. I didn't have to be on top of Will, making sure he evened anything out or that the hair was cut how we asked. He knows what he is doing and knows how to make you look good. I am so relieved to have found a place I can take my boys where I know they will get a nice cut. read more

My boy wanted a zero, tapered fade and only a small bit taken off the top. He came out looking like a fresh-faced Marine - which is great for a servicemen, but it wasn't what he wanted. For my other boy, the final product looked absolutely nothing like the photo he showed the barber of a previous cut that he had loved. The barber just laughed, after removing triple what my son had requested, and said, I know I took off much more than you wanted, but it will grow back in a week. My 10 year old was able to see through that lie easy enough. Also, just as an fyi, Fox News on the whole time, so I could get some WH propaganda with my haircuts. read more

I would give a 3 but they were cool about fixing me up when I went back in 5 minutes after getting in my car and noticing some problems with the chop. First of all any barber should know the difference between a "2 fade" and a "2". I asked for a 2 fade and what he gave me was more of a 2 and I said ok sorry I should have asked for a 1-2 fade (even tho asking for a 2 fade should have been enough). So he goes ok so like a 1 into a 2? ... my dude. There is a difference between a 1 into a 2, a 2 fade, a standard 2, a 1-2 fade, 1-2 hi fade, etc. and he seemed clueless about that. Found this barber shop on Yelp. The inside of the shop is very clean and has an "old school" feel to it. I noticed both employees washed their hands prior to cutting their guests hair, which I find important. Moss buzzed and trimmed the boyfriend's hair. He was polite, made small talk, and was thorough/efficient. The prices are very reasonable and the boyfriend left satisfied with his haircut. We'll return. Found this gem on Yelp a couple of months back and have coming here every three weeks or so for a trim. Not only are their prices unbeatable, but they are very attentive. I had my hair cut by a different person my second time and my spouse didn't like it as well. So I dropped by the next day and fixed my cut to my satisfaction - no charge. Due to an illness, I have lost a lot of my hair but not all, so I needed a nice clean shave. My experience was GREAT! Moss was extremely kind, personable and professional!! If you are looking for a classic barber shop, this is the place. After going to a local chain a couple of times after moving to the area, I was looking for a more classic type of barbershop. I don't need offers for extra services I am not interested. I stopped by on a Monday (Will is usually closed on Monday), but Will was there and accommodated my need for a haircut. I didn't even realize he wan't usually open on Monday until I was leaving. He just mentioned to let him know if I need my next haircut on a Monday - outstanding local service.
