Visited some friends in Chowchilla. The restaurant of choice was the Orchard Bar & Grill. It was a quality experience, providing fantastic food as expected. I had the Stampede Smash with a side salad. It was excellent. My wife and a friend had the French Dip sandwich with fries which was Awesome. I snagged a bite and can confirm, It Was Awesome! Another friend had the chicken sandwich, the Redskin, which she enjoyed. The restaurants ambiance is amazing. We had such a great time. Our waitress, Caila was Fantastic! She took the extra time to be sure our drinks stayed full and our meal experience was successful. She had a great attitude and represented the restaurant well. I'm looking forward to returning with my brother in law for the Prime Rib special on Friday nights. That is also a FANTASTIC MEAL! We stopped here on our way through town and was surprised to find that it was super cute on the patio. The food was good but the service was extremely slow. We walked in and there were two servers in the kitchen who kept looking at us but took over 5min for one of them to come out and greet us. My parents and 3 sisters ate dinner at Orchard Bar and Grill after leaving Yosemite National Park. The server was excellent and very attentive and friendly. The food was large portions and very tasty. The Brussels sprouts were amazing and a must have. Papa is very hard to please and he ate every bite without complaint. 12/31/24 Getting lunch!! Such a great bar & grill! Really nice wood bar. Country music playing. Greeted by many and the worker was happy to take my order to-go. I ended up getting the California Chicken Sandwich with no mayo, 1/2 onion rings, 1/2 sidewinder fries. The worker had no problem setting that up. Paid for it and waited at the bar for it to be ready. Great, key, calm atmosphere. Received order shortly later & left. Lunchtime! California Chicken sandwich was LARGE! Very tasty!! Fresh and delicious!! Chicken cooked perfectly! Even better with the pepper jack to spice it and hot sauces included! Avocado and bacon added to it making it REALLY DELICIOUS!! Sidewinder Fries were Really GREAT too!! Definitely a nice change from the original. Onion rings were crunchy & GREAT also!! FANTASTIC, GREAT lunch with lots of leftovers!! GREAT service too!! The chef at this restaurant truly knows their craft. They offer fantastic happy hour prices from Monday to Friday, available until 6 PM! Chicken wings (rubbed) were awesome. Great restaurant off the 99 perfect stop off between Merced and Fresno. Great food, great service, clean place. I highly recommend the pulled pork fries, they give a hefty searing of them and the pork is juicy. The prime rib was excellent. I wasn't expecting it to be so large! Server here was really attentive and did a great job. Unfortunately they were out of Salmon that night, so we didn't get to try it. Restroom was stocked and clean. Stopped here as we were passing through town on our way back to the Bay. The food and service were very good. I got the Pulled Pork sandwich and it was tasty! Nice and moist and the BBQ ssauce complimented the pork perfectly. Amber was our server and her hospitality was second to none! We had steak bites, Smash burger, fried pickles and the Philly. I know we got more because that's sound like a little food. Ain't no Peso Pulma here, we Peso Completo. Pickles were surprisingly good, nice golden brown and not greasy at all. The Philly is made of sliced prime rib. Good flavor, nice toasty bread. The steak bites tho, we killed those as soon as it hit the table. Asked for medium, got a little over medium. The blue cheese and mushrooms set it off. Who is in the kitchen today (Jan. 13, 2024)????? I just had a cheeseburger and onion rings so dry that I could start a fire with them. So dry, they scratched my throat when I swallowed. The hamburger bun is rubbery. I've never experienced such lack of caring for preparing food at this establishment before. The food is usually very well prepared and delicious. Great bar selection and cool bartender making people smile and laugh. I ordered the potato skins and smashed burger. They had a special but was too much for me with the toppings. Burger came with 2 patties, onion rings, cheddar, and brioche bun. Wow ! Spectacular taste!! I was excited to enjoy the dish after the very 1st bite. Fresh fries that were perfectly cooked. I Needed better food than "gas station food" on our road trip to LA from Sacramento. The oven wasn't working, so my dreams of piping hot potato boats was out the question... as well as a few other oven backed items. Meh. I went with the fried pickles. I was pre-advised they were "pre-battered and frozen"...the results tasted as you'd imagine. Lacking fresh flavor and texture. I ate what I could . The bottomless mimosas for $10 saved the day! I've learned to appreciate this restaurant more and more, a small town with a very BIG heart. Chowchilla for some is just a gas station but once you drive the side streets and roads you'll find a gem such as the Orchard Bar & Grill. When I host the customers for lunch and I mention that we will be eating at the Orchard and a smile begins to appear on their already glowing faces along with mine. The menu is easy to navigate through and you're not overwhelmed with a catalog of variations, I've never heard anyone complain about the offerings here and with the service there to help you're sure to find something delicious. As you see in the pictures I've tried a few items and all were delicious. I make it a point to ask for any specials or new items because you never know if something fresh is being tried, but that's me and I encourage you to do the same. Enjoy! read more

First time here, went during a slow time. Service was good, we sat outside and it was a beautiful day. Server made sure to come check on us frequently. My bf loved his burger and ate all of it! I ordered the fish & chips (Friday) the beer batter was a litttle soft. Would have preferred them a little more crispy. They weren't my favorite, but they weren't horrible. Just a personal preference for sure.. would come back again to try something else. The fries were really good though too! read more

Crystal was such a helpful and happy server! The fried pickles were delicious and the Street Corn Steak Tacos were HUGE and so, so good! My drink wasn't what I expected, but Crystal and the bartender were so sweet about it and made me a delicious drink that was more to my taste.
