Iv worked as a server for 4 year plus and iv never thought to ever treat someone the way my husband was just treated over a simple mistake I asked if they would please cook the egg more because they were raw the server caught attitude with my husband telling him it was his fault when we never put blame on anyone we just asked if they could please cook it more. She snatched the plate and took it back to the kitchen return literally 2 minutes later with a new egg that easy it took 2 minutes. At that point I was so upset I asked for To go boxes and the check and we left when I brought it to her attention how rude she was she said I took it out of context which is crazy. Lots of parking in the off street parking lot. Great friendly service. The food is mediocre though. The croutons on the salad were stale, burnt and spongy and the food tasted reheated. My BLT was decent but my partners steak was lackluster and the corn was obviously canned corn. There were a bunch of flies and dirty tables nearby as well. Over all it was just blah. Stopped by for lunch while in town visiting the Castle Air Museum. I had the seafood combo which was pretty good. The calamari were good and the Cod was okay. The shrimp were the highlight but there were only two included. I opted for the mashed potatoes and gravy but they were lacking flavor. I'm hindsight I should've gotten the rice pilaf. Still I nearly cleared my plate. The highlight of my meal was the soup. The wedding soup had great flavor and texture. Luckily my son didn't finish his so I got a double serving. It was our first time coming in the bar, we came in through the front side of the restaurant. We had just finished having dinner there and our table was next to the door that led to the bar. After our dinner we got up and wanted to continue the night and have some drinks at the bar. However, once we came in our excitement for continuing the night at this location ended as soon as we got yelled at by an employee. A black woman who was helping at the bar yelled at us and told us we came in through the wrong door. At first we were confused who she was because she was sitting at the bar with guests. And she talked to us like we if we were children, and humiliated us in front of the people that were sitting at the bar. As guests we had no intention to ever enter though a wrong door or break any of the restaurants rules. We simply finished our dinner and got up to go to the bar which the door was next to our table with nothing but good intentions. We understand she was an employee after she got up and entered the inside of the bar and started working. We immediately left and asked our waitress what that lady's name was but she didn't want to say. (We were satisfied with our waitress service) I understand as employees you want to communicate to the guests of the correct door for future visits. But the form that bartender did it was wrong. Talking to customers as if we are children is disrespectful especially when we just came and gave the restaurant business with dining in. Even after our dinner we were so satisfied that we had discovered this place and we were planning on coming back. The Almond Tree is a decent place to eat with standard American food. The service is generally good and the food is best when Jason is cooking. Beware: When ordering your food you will be offered substitutions. Make sure to ask if the substitutions come with an extra charge. I ordered a Burger and was offered several items as a substitution for the French fries including sweet potato fries. There was no mention of an extra charge. When I received my tab, I saw that I was charged $3.12 for substituting my fries for sweet potato fries. I felt that I should have been told about the up charge and that $3.12 is excessive for the substitution. In total, there was approximately $7.00 of charges for things I was not told I'd be charged for nor are they on the meñu. read more

It's a good-sized restaurant, so don't be intimidated if you see a lot of cars. We ordered off the breakfast menu, which has pretty much the standards (including linguica omelets), along with a new "garbage plate" for transplanted western New Yorkers (though it's pretty restrained and more Southern). Food was nice: properly cooked hash browns, generously meat-filled omelet without excessive scorching, and a really excellent fluffy biscuit. I like their thin pancake style immensely and wish the ones used for my pigs in blanket had not been scorched. Don't order the ice tea. Just don't. Staff was extraordinarily cheerful. Service was reasonably paced in relation to the fullness of the restaurant. It's a fairly loud space. If you don't mind the noise, it seems like a good place to catch an affordable, filling meal that isn't a big chain. read more

This small diner surprised me. Very very clean and a big menu with lots of traditional diner options. The prices were very reasonable and good portions. The only drawback is the hotel across the street appears to be a migrant haven. Lots of buses, big tents for some sort of distribution/processing, and young men with backpacks going in & out. There is a Denny's across the street (next to the hotel) so maybe that's why we didn't see the foot traffic on this side of the street. The ladies who bring the to go orders and accept payment are always friendly, and they ensure the customer is well taken care of. The food is consistently great. Their pies are truly "homemade", and they usually have a variety of flavors/types to choose from. Everything is always fresh, and the prices quite competitive. Their Senior menu is one of the few I order from, because it is different from the norm, in that the portions are healthy sized, and the variety if selections is incomparable.. First time visiting two weeks ago on a Sunday evening. Food was exceptional, with a wide variety of options to choose from and were reasonable in price. My friends and I didn't know about the Lounge until we almost left for the night but I'm glad we decided to stay because it was really fun. We came out to Atwater, Ca to try the bars scene with friends. Female bartenders here were nice and suggested several drinks. They offered great service! We were having a great time ordering shots and drinks with our group. When more people began to arrive at the bar the security people shut down the pool table with no notice as to why. A man came from the restaurant and began helping the female bartenders. When we went up to order a few shots of patron he was rude and not friendly. The worst part was when we went back to our table and took our shots....to say the least they were WATER SHOTS!!!! What kind of bar service is this!!!! They must do this to people they think are too drunk and charge them full prize$$!! He took advantage of us and thought he would rip us off. When we confronted him he refused to believe us. We told everyone in the bar not to order patron. When we asked to speak to the manager we learned he was the manager/owner. After arguing with him and telling him to take a shot of the patron bottle he gave in. Once he had his patron shot glass his eyes popped out and he himself realized it was WATER. He did apologize but it's still a place we will never go back too. Our party did get new shot of patron from a new bottle.
