BEAUTIFUL PLACE! I highly recommend this plant nursery. As another Yelper put it, "it exceeds all the hype." I heard about Orchard Nursery from Janey Santos, a gardening YouTuber from Davis. The video doesn't do the place justice. You have to go and take it all in in person. It's a beautiful nursery. They have a good variety of succulents, California natives, annuals, perennials, and trees. A lot of which you do not see at a typical big box store. I saw several rare plants that I've never seen anywhere. That's a PLUS! The staff I came across were very friendly and helpful. More than one person approached me to see if I needed any help. Prices are reasonable. I was lucky to have gone during a 30% off 4 inch plants, so I definitely took advantage of the sale. They have a gift shop as well. Super cute place! If it's your first time, don't pull into the first parking lot marked, "overflow parking." Keep to your right and follow the path down to the main area. There is plenty of parking there. This nursery is definitely one you will want to visit, even if you're just browsing. I went to browse and did not leave empty-handed. I will definitely be back. read more

Wow! They really go above and beyond with their customer service at Orchard Nursery! I had a small pot that I wanted to fill with flowers, but because there were so many choices, I sought assistance. Gianna, and two other amazingly helpful plant experts worked together to find the perfect flowering combination for my pot. While they searched, I strolled through the nursery's beautiful grounds. There were so many colorful flowers, gorgeous plants and trees, and an abundance of vegetable to choose from. Gianna came over to show me what they had chosen, and I couldn't have been more pleased! They took into consideration the amount of light my pot would get, and even chose flowers that would compliment the color of my front steps-so thoughtful Prices were on par for high quality plants. I paid $31.65 for the three beautiful, hand picked plants (Gianna is holding them in one of the pics!) There are so many more positive things that I could say about my experience at Orchard Nursery!, but I recommend that you go and see for yourselves. Also, don't forget to pop into Lazy K's gift shop. My husband I stopped here because I love houseplants. I have a lot! My husband calls it a jungle. It is fun to look around here. Beautiful displays and some rare plants. It is also expensive! As we were walking around I had fun showing my husband what my plants are worth here, lol. I have a huge monstera bigger than the one I saw on display for 600$!!! A Maranta caught my husbands eye on the way out and he purchased it for $30. Unfortunately we did not check the health of the roots because I guess we just figured this type of store wouldn't sell a plant that wasn't in excellent condition. Our mistake. My maranta is still alive and I am going to save it, but I will stick to Home Depot and the like. And not forget to check the roots. read more

This Orchard nursery in Lafayette, CA will not honor their return policies they made! Plus their terrible services and attitudes to their clients. Their return policy states "All merchandise must be accompanied by a receipt within 30 days of purchase for return.' When you return their merchandise within 30 day with the receipt, they won't give you back the money to your original credit card, instead they give it back on their gift cards, to have you buy more of their plants. They also tell you in order to get your money back, you have to fertilized the plants you returning with receipt within 30 days. So be careful when purchase merchandise there, they do not honor the policies they made, there are hidden sub-policies for their manipulation towards their favor. read more

Awesome nursery in Lafayette! They have so many different types of plants and lots of seasonal varieties as well as houseplants. They had a full Christmas setup inside that was very pretty. I heard they had a mini pumpkin patch, so wanted to check that out. There's two sides to the nursery, one side has a store with a bunch of cute knickknacks, kitchen accessories, gifts, etc - basically one of those stores where you could spend an hour and spent $1000s. On the other side, they have all the plants. For Halloween specifically, both sides had pumpkins for sale, you just had to look underneath for the price. Their selection of plants and succulents is pretty nice. They also had some animals to look at (chickens and a pig and Shelly, their resident turtle). Also a cute pumpkin wall. I can't wait to come back for Christmas. They were setting up the trees with all the ornaments inside and it's SO CUTE and they have so many things to see. I knocked off a star though because everything is pretty pricey. I noticed that a lot of their items, like the jellycat stuffies were marked up in price, and even while we were there, someone told us to check out the Ruth Bancroft Nursery in WC since the prices were a lot better. I have a few favorite nurseries in the area and this is one of them. They change things up for the holidays, right now they have an area filled with Christmas stuff (many ornaments and decorations). I think they have a good selection of indoor plants, some are priced fairly expensive and others aren't bad at all. A good place to find a gift for someone. They have many garden decor items, including little items for garden fairy set ups in your indoor plants or outdoor garden. Many outdoor plants, including large trees for landscaping. I do wish they had signs or an area for native plants like Annie's in Richmond. Many succulents here, including ones I haven't seen elsewhere. They have seeds, bulbs, etc. The staff is knowledgeable. I don't love their selection of outdoor pots, but overall one of the better nurseries in the area. There is a little store on the property (super strong fragrance in there for anyone sensitive) that has all the jellycat stuffed animals and random home and jewelry items. They also have many outdoor garden decor items as you walk up to the store. read more

Where is the good customer service that everyone is talking about? I came here today to exchange some plants that failed about one week after planting them. They're grumpy and didn't seem to trust me. I bought 12 plants and three of the same variety failed. Also, the manager told clerk the incorrect amount to refund me which I corrected her on. What I love about orchard nursery: their plant selection, top notch customer service, and expertise. I've shopped at orchard for the past few years for my berry plants, veggie plants, and fruit trees. They have such a wide selection of blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, and raspberries, I didn't know which ones to choose! Luckily, their staff on the floor are so knowledgeable and seem to have their own oasis of a garden at their own homes, so were able to share their knowledge on how each variety of berries behave, size/flavor of berries, how to take care of them, where best to plant them, etc. Honestly, they impart so much of their wisdom, I feel like I learn more about how to take care of my entire garden from a 15 min conversation with them than I would from an hour google search on my own! Their customer service definitely sets them apart from the rest! And makes paying a bit more (compared to chain garden retailers) worth every penny! I'm new to the world of plants and have always considered myself somewhat of a black thumb (sigh), but am working on turning that around. My plant collection has slowly been growing so I came by Orchard Nursery with a friend the other day to explore. They have so many cute pots, planters, and plants here! The staff was helpful in answering questions and they have a ginormous selection of all things plant-related. Per my friend, the selection was actually a lot less than usual because they're switching over to Christmas displays right now (it's not even Halloween yet!). The pumpkulents they have are absolutely adorable though. Who knew plants could be this cute?! This is located in Lafayette. My cousin brought me here to look for a plant unfortunately they were sold out of the item. But, this nursery is so beautiful. It almost looks like someone's property (maybe it is or was) I don't know. But it looks very homie, very welcoming! They have tons of indoor and outdoor decorations. They definitely have a collection of plants and pottery. Thought some might say it's pricey. But, it's worth a visit. I maybe saw one or two staff personnel and they were very nice. Stunning, to say the least! Aside from the fact that the plants are always in good health, I truly appreciate the overall area. It's always so well-done, no matter what time of year it is. In addition, they have a fantastic statue of a cat! For my home garden, I needed more than 20 plants and a tree in numerous amounts, so I went to the garden center. The architect drew out a landscape plan for me, and I have a list of plants he recommended. A member of the staff was quite helpful when I showed them the document in hopes of getting some assistance in procuring plants. They appear to be growing a lot of different kinds of plants. A bustling shop with few available parking places. And no, i couldn't buy the turtle to bring him home :( read more

This is a 5-acre land. Massive. I could hang out here for the whole day if they would let me. They have a large selection of plants, even hard to find plants or trendy plants they have. Though I don't think I saw a rubber plant with the triangle leaves. Oh also the prices are a bit high. Staff are hit and miss some snob but some great to interact with. Great plants, large variety, sometimes very crowded and takes awhile to navigate to parking. Others have mentioned employee attitudes and I've also experienced a kind of "why are you bothering me with your dumb question" especially in the gift shop. I've never been offered help and despite there seeming to be ample staffing, they seem markedly uninterested in helping shoppers. You really have to track someone down and they'll answer your one question and move on. It doesn't seem like they value their customers. read more

Got a lot of questions answered, a lot of things explained to me. The only way it could've gotten any better would be if she showed up at my place and showed me how on my own rose bushes. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Prices are kinda steep. That's why it's four stars instead of five. The selection of gardening tools is right about what you'd expect, and the plant selection is also decent. But I really can't recommend the classes enough, especially if you are a beginner like me. read more

Orchard Nursery has been the single greatest discovery of my life this past year! I visited on a whim before the holidays in 2019, picked up a couple plants, no real idea what I was doing but OK yeah this seems cool, let's try something new. And a new obsession was born. Orchard has since become my happy place. Their Instagram account is one of my favorites. Exploring the rows of plants, reading tags, learning and observing, it's opened a whole new place in my heart, life and patio of nurturing as a hobby. So much joy - who knew the red trimmed leaves of my celosia would turn into red firecracker blooms? Who knew after the purple petals fell off my clematis that its leaves would reach out and climb their way up my railings, and make my balcony one of the prettiest in the whole neighborhood? Who knew caring for a variety of succulents would bring me THIS MUCH happiness? The people at Orchard, that's who. You can feel the difference when you pull up into their parking lot. It's the anti-Home-Depot with its warm and personal touches, you can truly feel a legacy of decades of improvements to our earth and homes. Following their selections through the seasons, receiving personal tidbits for plant care during our recent heat wave, watching them cull an amazing selection of houseplants to help heal our secluded hearts during quarantine times at home, and now looking forward to what creeping into cooler weather and holidays will bring - I can't wait. I love this nursery. I used to come here all the time when my son was little. They have a raised pond with a turtle. The turtle swims about and entertains the children. The nursery itself is well laid out and they have lots of people to help. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. To be honest I haven't been here since Covid. This Nursery is gorgeous but don't let that fool you. The staff is a starring role with nice and friendly and informative help. Routine nursery needs like healthy plants and tools are easy. Try something harder like air plants as a gift and it is wrapped beautifully. Need a unique pot or a plant that fits just so? They will have it. But there is more. This is the place for traditions like introducing kids to gardening and tools. Or choosing the perfect wreath or ornament at Christmas or shamrocks in March or bulbs.
