His friends who attend other schools are getting C's and saying the work is too hard to get an A. My son was taught the fundamentals that started with John Muir. My daughter is a 4.0 student. She reads 1 hour per day, every day. She also plays the piano for 50 minutes every day. My wife at times will help with the class. I find teachers want to come to teach at John Muir leaving their teaching jobs from such areas as Concord and Danville. This says a lot in my book. Most of the teachers do not put up with disturbance from the child. Some parents do not like this because they want babysitters, not teachers. I see some parents going through the motions like they are involved, but they are more involved with Facebook and talking gossip. I must admit, I too sometime get drawn in, but I stop it when my children are invovled. John Muir and the staff are among the best you will ever find. If you want them to challenge your child so that he may be ready for college, they will. If you want them to babysit, well, maybe this school is not for you.

Before Hilltop, he had never attended a formal school setting, so watching his growth over those two years was truly incredible. The teachers are absolutely phenomenal (Mrs Gilary, Mrs Tina, Mrs. Dorothy and Mrs. Alejandra), and there are so many reasons why. They genuinely have a love for teaching and for the children they serve. They encourage independence, nurture each child's individual personality, and create creative, engaging programs that allow children to learn naturally and organically. They also provide so many special experiences throughout the year, including multiple performances that give the children opportunities to build confidence and shine. When my son first started, he had HUGE feelings and very few words in his toolbox to express them. I watched the teachers meet him with patience, compassion, encouragement, and consistency. Little by little, they helped him find his voice, become more independent, and develop the confidence to navigate new experiences. By the time he started kindergarten, he was confident, reading, expressing himself beautifully, and leading conversations. After he left her class, he was promoted to his pre k class where Mrs. Dorothy Coker took over. She provided him with structure and discipline to prepare him for Kindergarten. She works so hard to make sure that her students are prepared for Kindergarten. They are so innovative when it comes to assignments and programs that they put on throughout the year. Yesterday we attended the Pre-K graduation and they did not disappoint. They made sure that all of the graduates felt special and appreciated. What we can't get is that nowadays quite a few grandparents are raising their grand kids due to the parents of the lovely children. Some of us grandparents have their grandchildren due to the miss conduct of their parents, ie, drug, guns, etc., and are afraid that at any given time someone has threatened them and their children. As the guardians of these little guys we keep them safe from strangers and harm when they are with us but when we let them go to school we want to be safe that the gates are locked and when the EXIT is on a gate that means EXIT only, no entrance of anyone at any time. My youngest son was allowed to enter into the kindergarten play yard and he has no children in that school and has not been on the school grounds this year for the new parents or some of the old ones to see this year but yet someone leaving held the gate open for him since he was running in that direction. This was an issue last year when a child was pleaded to open the gate and a non parent was on the school ground and roaming around before he was approached by office personnel and escorted off the premises before something regretful happened, so please when i make a remark to you about this gate being exit only, heed my concern for the safety of my grandsons and your children.

Celebration Center is a very friendly, safe, and inviting place to visit. The classrooms are spick n' span clean, with projects made from the children lovingly hung up all around the classroom. The playground alone is enough to make you want to come back, it's so cute! The school goes above and beyond with holiday parties, winter and spring programs the children perform for their families, special visitors in the classroom, family breakfast morning, even parent appreciation week. Once a week the children get to participate in chapel, where they get to sing and dance and learn about Jesus. It will seriously leave you misty eyed from how sweet it is! The kindergarten year was great. 1st grade, however, well, lets just say, recent events have shown us that this school does not practice what it preaches. Without detailed communication or parental consent, Celebration brought in a guest speaker from Committing to 16 -- someone with no formal training in early childhood education -- to speak to a class of 6-year-olds. Even worse, the speaker contradicted her own organization's message ["Committing to 16 is designed to help prevent mental health issues that come with social media use in kids and teens by avoiding social media usage until 16..." ] by encouraging kids to stay on social media... at six years old! How is that in line with Christian values or healthy child development? C'mon Nurse Kelli - make it sound right. And that's just grazing the top layer of their presentation slides... there's more than social media. How about, vaping, sexual touching? Yeah, that. Even public schools have consents toward subjects spoken on that subject. We're raising our child in a very intentional and supervised way. No sleepovers. No random adults without us present. No unsupervised screen time -- ever. Every minute of his exposure to media is something we explain and walk him through. So, to find out that Celebration assumed all children were on the same path and delivered such content without consent? Completely unacceptable. When my wife addressed the issue in person, she was met with dismissive body language and zero accountability. From what I gathered, they didn't seem to think they did anything wrong -- or perhaps they just labeled us as "overprotective parents." Let me be clear: We may be the first to speak up, but we are not alone. Other parents we've talked to were equally outraged. To top it off, our child has mentioned they often watch YouTube in class. If that's what we're paying thousands a year for, we could have stayed home and done that ourselves -- for free. Celebration Center claims to partner with parents, but in our experience, they make major decisions without transparency and then stand by them without reflection. We no longer trust the school's judgment, and we certainly don't feel they prioritize the well-being or innocence of the children in their care. If you're a parent looking for a school that truly respects and collaborates with families, think twice before enrolling here. They might say the right things, but their actions tell a different story.

It is amazing to see how much he is absorbing and how proud he is to share it. He enjoys his time in daycare with Ms. Lisa and always looks forward to his mornings with Ms. Amy. The consistency and care from each teacher make such a difference in helping him feel comfortable and supported. The teacher aides and support staff are always very warm, caring, and attentive. Whether it is a quick greeting at drop-off or helping the children through their daily routines, they create such a calm and positive atmosphere. As he prepares to graduate to the next age group, I asked him which class he would like to move into next. His immediate response was, very matter-of-factly, "Ms. Sharon. That is MY class."
