Visited on Pleasant Day and it was very busy but it probably isn't the case usually. I had their banana matcha and it was so good! Definitely gonna recommend it to people. My only qualm is that it was so filled with ice that there wasn't much liquid. Would ask for less ice next time. The drink got out quickly despite how busy it was. I had a frustrating experience trying to order a birthday cake for my son's celebration at the Whole Foods Bakery on West 8th Ave. I went in person on Saturday, May 17, to order an 8-inch Tiramisu cake, but was told they couldn't take any more orders because they were "full." That was very surprising and disappointing--especially for a major grocery store bakery. They suggested I call the next day to see if the cake might be available without a custom order. When I called, they said they did have an 8-inch Tiramisu cake available. I asked if they could hold it for me until 5 p.m., after my chiropractic appointment. However, I was told they could only hold it for one hour, and that if I didn't arrive by 1:30 p.m., they would release it. I even offered to provide a credit card number for a deposit to secure the cake, but they said they don't take credit cards for that purpose. I find it unreasonable that a customer can't place a simple cake order in advance due to being "full," and also that the store won't hold a cake for more than an hour--even when it's the same day and the store is still open. Life doesn't always allow for a rigid one-hour window, especially when you're trying to plan around other responsibilities. This experience was not what I expected from Whole Foods, and it added unnecessary stress to planning a special occasion. I hope their bakery department reconsiders their order and pickup policies to be more flexible and customer-friendly. read more

Organic Acres Market is a great addition to Main Street. There's a lot of produce in this store ranging from fruits, veggies, beans, flours, beans, jarred items and pre baked goods. Not only are the items organized, everything I picked up was in good condition. Prices are fairly reasonable for organic items. I love this corner grocery store that started out as an independent grocer, but was eventually bought by Spud.ca. Regardless, it's got most everything you need and can get at other grocery stores. Canned tomatoes, frozen peas, all sorts of fruits and veggies. I'm a huge fan of their low priced avocados ($1 each) and all of their produce, which is tagged with information on where it originated. They also stock a lot of local brands which is how I've learned about a whole bunch of independent food producers in Vancouver--Nuez nut milks; mixer elixer shrubs; etc. The only downside is that the store is a bit tight for how they operate. There seems to be 2-3 staff restocking every time I've been in and often they have large carts that partially or mostly block various walking paths. If there were some way they could streamline this, it would be a huge improvement for customer experience. read more

When an item is mis-marked in price I strongly believe the item should be offered to the customer at the price marked. Not only was it not offered at the marked price, but not even at a discounted price to make up for their error. No apology, just "do you still want it?" *buzz sound* (wrong thing to ask). All organic produce, super sweet staff, Riley Park gets a little bit better - juicers paradise! I am tickled pink that I found this place! Ok first... i'm a little embarrassed that an organic food market has been a block away from my house for the past five months without me knowing, but in my defense, it's a pretty non-descript little store front that hides a plethora of awesome! The Awesome In Short Version: * All organic produce. At fair prices (compared to the big ol' Whole Foods or my Spud crew). * Happy Planet Soup - which is fantastic. * Excellent selection of non-produce type groceries. I snagged some seriously tasty gluten free granola bars there over the weekend. Shazam tasty times. * The staff are super friendly, and totally sweet. Even as you are flinging yourself about the room taking pictures for this review. * You have to take pictures, because it's adorable. * Milk in glass containers. Which is my new, weird obsession in life. * BEST orange I've ever had in my LIFE came from this spot. The others were respectfully tasty as well. But MAN - last night's orange hit it out of the park. * Their bulk food section is in big mason jars. Talk about charming. * They offer a produce bundle if you want to pre-order. * And there is talk of a potential juice bar in the future. I'm stoked. They have 100% gained a new regular from me. It's perfect for when I accidentally juice too many greens and realize i've created juice that tastes like the devil and desperately need apples to cut the devil-taste but happen to be out. I purchased a surprise bag online . The staff rudely refused to give me the bag until I first swiped that I had received it. I said I will swipe it when I receive it. They said no, you swipe that you picked it up before we give it to you. I said that's disrespectful. I said that I already paid for the food and she was treating me like a thief by assuming that I would steal the food that I already paid for. She said that's the way we do it. That's the policy of the store. By demanding that I confirm receipt before receiving the merchandise they implied and insinuated that I was dishonest and untrustworthy. I met an employee at the back of the store and told him that I wanted to speak to the manager to complain. The manager stormed out of the store shouting at me with a beet red face, totally out of control, almost losing it and shouted "You are rude. You made my worker cry". He was hostile, aggressive and intimidating and I did not feel safe in his presence. I thought he was going to physically assault me. Then he shouted "You are banned from this store! Don't ever come back here again!". He didn't ask me anything. He didn't want to know my side of the story. He didn't want to hear my feelings or my opinions about the way I was mistreated. He contradicted his employee. She told me that was the store policy to insist that we confirmed that we received the food before we received it. He told me that's what Too Good To Go told them to do. I paid for the food in advance and I shouldn't have to falsely declare that I received the food before it is given to me. It is insulting and disrespectful. read more

Great go-to place for the missing ingredient or for quality produce and obscure organic/keto items. I always get my Farm Fresh eggs here that are fab. Funnily enough, when there were no eggs available one day, I asked when they'll be getting more. Staff seemed very unsure, looked at the back and then told me that the chickens are old so they're not producing as many eggs as usual. I actually found this hard to believe, but accepted and left. I was back the next day to find that the fridge was well stocked with my favourite eggs. Staff need to get their facts right. Also, the best priced avocados are found here although they've increased in price which was expected. They also sell beautifully presented local flowers, which I've also bought and gifted aplenty. Love that this place has a great friendly and community vibe. However, the tipping option is becoming unnecessary especially if I'm only purchasing a couple of avocados. Prices are increasing everywhere which is impacting the way I now shop and spend. Although, it's not imposed, I just feel that by not tipping I'm being seen as a scrooge, which is unfair. read more

Obviously good produce...but not the best attitude. I picked up a few standard items, avocados, oranges and some red peppers. The peppers were priced at $6/each. I said that's a little steep and put them back. The cashier said, "it's organic".....my response....."i get it, I buy organic, but even at whole foods, you don't pay that, who can afford that?"......cashier response...."we cater to the top 5%". OK then. I live a block a way from Organic Acres (now Organic Arses), but I think I prefer to 2km walk to Whole Foods from now on. read more

If you are strictly purchasing only organic fruits and vegetables, then Organic Acres is the market for you to be shopping at. The selection of fruits and vegetables my not be as extensive as some of the other markets on Granville Island, but the unique produce variety will have you taking another look. I shop organic as often as I can but my bank account cannot always handle the hit and Organic Acres doesn't help in this area. The tomatoes, when they are in season, are truly amazing, with incredible varieties of organic heirlooms, they jazzed up my mid-week salad something fierce! Aside from price, Organic Acres aims to provide the most fresh and organic fruits and vegetables seasonally available and they truly succeed. read more

I've been driving/riding in front of the store for months now and finally decided to park my bike and go check it out a few weeks ago and I only regret I waited for so long to do that! Ok it's organic and at a fair price for the quality but most of all, it's good. All the fruits and vegetables I bought there in the last 3 weeks were so tasty that I keep going back for more. Actually, I don't go there that often, rather it comes to me :) I like to order the $30-produce box that they deliver to my workplace down the road. You know in advance from the website what's in it so you can decide whether you want it or not. I like that it's a variety of vegetables and fruits (not always local but always ripe and fresh). If I pick myself, I tend to eat always the same veggies and it gets boring so I like that the selection sometimes takes me out of my comfort zone and make me research new recipes! Organic Acres is it. Only local produced, seasonal organic veggies - wooooooo!!! Since they're seasonal, the selection is sometimes limited, but its definitely the most environmentally friendly, sustainable, healthy way to go. I usually check here before going to Whole Foods for my organic goodies. I know Mercedes G. said they are expensive, and they are surely more expensive than conventional produce, but as far as organics go they're actually quite price competitive. My husband and I have been stopping in here weekly pretty much since they opened....Main street is a great location for this type of shop and for us since we are only a few blocks away! A lovely little organic shop - very cute and clean! ...kind of a mini-Whole Foods. Everything is well organized and the produce is very fresh. I'm kind of surprised the other reviewers find the prices here a bit steep ... as we have shopped around for organic products (usually buying from Whole Foods or Spud.ca) and the prices are very reasonable here - even better then the above mentioned. I think the store has an excellent selection of products so far. They also have a weekly produce box you can sign up for - $30 for an assorted bundle of goodness... Also, the staff are always very nice! :) AND they carry a great local Gluten Free brand of breads and cookies which are so so good - 'High Crow'. Yay! read more

Totally love the local aspect and they seem to be improving in friendliness and service. The store is run by very young, apparently shy people with not a lot of experience but they are committed and growing the business nicely. Now that they moved the vegetables back to the cooler we buy produce here again. We stopped because they stated over spraying it not keeping it in a cooler so it was moldy and mildewy smelling. Produce needs to be cold, not wet! The prices are good, a little more variety would be appreciated but a very nice business that we visit weekly now. read more

This is a new market that I just saw the other day in passing on the way to my regular record store. They have local produce in season, not as large as a regular grocery store, however, they had the basics. I am obsessed with apples and they have a lot of local organic apples in different species. A bit more convenient for me to go here than in the rain at some of the farmer's markets. They are expensive, however, I am just getting one or two apples for my best friend and I (we resolved to snack healthier). It is a small, well organized and clean establishment. You get a few cool things, however, it doesn't serve the purpose for full on groceries. They guy at the til was awesome and nice. read more

Not just because its organic either, it was more than I'm willing to pay and I usually buy organic. Everything tasted great and fresh though, but I'm not sure I will return. Organic Acres Market is a local grocery store that isn't part of a big box chain. All products are organic as the name suggests and are reasonably priced. There is a wide range of products from fruits, veggies, beans and flours that are stored in large cookie jars for bulk or pre-packaged. It's like your local farmer's market made available on Main Street. I've been driving by and always wondered what Organic Acres was since the store was quite nonchalant amongst boutiques. But I'm glad I've found it. OA also offers produce bundle so you can pre-order what you need and pick up. And if you are a baker looking for gluten free flour and products, they have a good selection. Even coconut flour. I'm just really glad to find sustainability from a grocer. read more

Awesome little organic grocery store. Great prices on a variety of staple vegetables, herbs and grains. As someone who shops at all the big chain organic stores, Organic Acres has them beat hands down on prices for fresh vegetables. If you are looking to go organic and have the time to cook everything fresh, this is the place to start on a reasonable budget. The dried goods are more on the expensive side, but I understand they need to consider their small space and rent. They have organic meats in the freezer in the back, and a selection of healthy bottled juices. There's a lot of little extra goodies wherever they can fit it in - organic cheeses and dairy, gluten free bread loaves and organic chocolate. Love supporting a local thriving business! read more

This is how to do an organic market, hands down. Has been muchly (that's a word, right?) needed in the Riley Park area for some time and really glad they've opened their doors where they did. The shop is smallish, cozy if you will. But you really don't need a lot of room to pack in a massive amount of locally grown (and in some cases imported) organic produce, grains, canned goods, and a good portion of anything else you are looking for. If it's green and in season, you are going to find it here along with a wide variety of reds, oranges, yellows, purples, and uh...browns?...alright so I may not be a food writer but this is by far the organic vegans dream. The owners and staff are amazing, if there is something you are looking for and not in the store they will give a serious look into bringing it in. They want to tailor the shop to the neighborhood which is something you can't say about some of the larger produce markets in the area with maybe one or two end caps of organic fare just to appease the 'urban hippie'. Organic Acres is today's answer to the Mom and Pop corner shop without a doubt. They are just much younger and probably don't smoke a pipe and wear suspenders or use terms like 'you kids' or 'sweetie'...but I might have a skewed view of what a Mom and Pop shop actually is, TV does that. And then there's the whole price thing that always comes up when one mentions organic foods, which to be honest I've never really understood. Yes it's a *tiny* bit more, but with that you have the sense of knowing where your food comes from, supporting the local farmer (they list their local suppliers on their website), as well as a great local business. And it doesn't hurt knowing what you're putting into yourself, but that is a whole other debate and probably not fit for Yelp. But to really compare, their prices are better then many of the larger chains like Whole Foods, Nesters, IGA, etc. We're spending at least a quarter less then what we were previously at other produce markets. Not to mention that their weekly $30 produce box that they offer comes out to roughly $1 per item...a dollar! Sure it may not have everything on your shopping list and a couple out-of-the-norm items, but with it rotating weekly (check their website) it gets you out of your comfort zone and reaching for the Veganomicon or another favorite cookbook to find out exactly what one could do with a spaghetti squash or black radishes...turns out a hell of a lot, who knew? So in summary: Thanks Organic Acres, you guys are awesome. And to anyone wanting to support a great local business as well as get some fresh local produce, this is where you want to be. read more

Most products are local and there are several unique products; however, that comes with a price. Favorite place for organic produce. Excellent prices on greens, and superb quality too. Greens come in every morning so the early bird, er, doesn't get the worm. I have experienced only great service in all my visits. I discovered them about a year ago, which from what I read, is after they were bought by Spud.ca so I never got to experience any Organic Arses attitude as seen in a 2015 review. read more

I have to echo what others have said about the customer service and staff here. I don't find the staff friendly at all. There's one girl there most of the time who never smiles and due to that I feel unwelcome in the store. They do have great produce and sometimes they have some good sale items. (There were two staff speaking with each other and the staff member who came to the till didn't even say hello or ANYTHING at all during the whole transaction. I love my neighbourhood... that being said, I love it even more since Organic Acres moved in (2.5 years ago) Two very thoughtful owners who do their best to ensure they carry what is important to their patrons. I really appreciate having their weekly veg box available- it allows me to plan ahead and ensures I mix up my assortment of fruits & veg on a weekly basis. If you sign up for their email updates, you'll also get some great suggestions / recipes on what to do with your veg box. Cute store-when I entered the staff was cleaning the floor to make sure it looks good for customers. They have a great selection and I a clean atmosphere. Pricing is in line with whole foods etc. My favorite product I purchased was a goat milk cream cheese that I have not found elsewhere. Overall, I would pop in if I am already in the neighborhood but would not drive here especially just to go to this store. read more

Organic groceries are never as cheap as non-organic, this shouldn't be a surprise. Organic acres is cheaper than the farmer's market up at hillcrest, and has a wide variety of interesting and well-kept produce that I don't I see at all at other local groceries (golden beets, lettuce that isn't the standard boring varieties, heirloop tomatoes, etc.), and also cold pressed coconut oil! Yum! We don't do all our shopping there, but we do go there weekly. read more

This grocery store is awesome. I wanted a good, locally grown organics store to buy my juicing fruits & vegis from~ and this is it. I spoke with the owner who says they are new in the neighborhood & will be expanding the types of products they carry. Such a cute store! Everything is organic and/or local and a pretty decent selection of product too. It is a bit pricey, but it is organic and you're paying for branding and what not too, so I'm not too upset, especially considering how charming the store looks. They also have a grocer box priced at around $30 that comes with a bunch different produce and sometimes grocery items, it's a great and innovative way to get folks trying a bunch of different things, kudos to Organic Acres for doing something that sets them apart for all other grocery stores I've ever been to. read more

These folks understand fresh, organic, interesting food at reasonable prices, AND customer service!! I was shopping at Whole Foods, but now have switched over as much as possible to this friendly, helpful store with better fruit and veg prices, extremely fresh stuff, and an expanding inventory of excellent chicken, meats (I don't eat red meat, so can't say here), dairy, canned and boxed and cellophaned goods. When I ask about a producer, they go in the back to google the source for me! They ask for feedback on new items, and clearly take it seriously. And t hey are always smiling! I buy all my produce, grains, chicken, cupboard goods, and treats here now. Very glad they opened up here on Main. And there's a couple of blocks of free parking just a little north on Main, for those days when I don't have the 25 minutes to walk here (and then back). High quality organic produce at fair prices. The store is clean, organized and the staff are friendly. Selection is good and I find I am in and out of there quick. I will never step into a Whole Foods again. They also sell bags of overly ripe apples really cheap for juicing. There is enough outside of the produce as well to make it your staple grocery store. The grass fed ground beef I bought from there was probably the best I've ever had and they have a nice selection of organic & health food brand packaged goods and dried goods. read more
