Oriental Bowl is mainly a takeout place for Chinese food. I used to order from this place from time to time when I lived several blocks away from it. It is in the southern part of Osborne Village, closer to confusion corner (it's where all the major streets intersect and the map is fun to look at, especially if you're new to the city). I have never stepped foot in this place. I have walked past it countless times. Every order that I have made was over the phone. The folks taking my order were always friendly and did not mess up any of them. The food is okay. It's Cantonese-style that has its westernized moments. I love the Oriental Bowl special fried rice. It has barbequed pork, shrimp, chicken, peas, carrots, and egg. They used to be generous with the fried egg, which I appreciated. I enjoyed the lemon chicken. The chicken was white meat. The sauce was yummy. The batter could have been lighter, though. I still loved it. This place has good chop suey. Can you tell that I ordered here because I love egg dishes? I pretty much tried them all. The barbequed pork, and chicken and mushroom varieties stood out the most. Finally, the mooshi was yummy. I've done the chicken and beef. You get four pancakes. It's fun eating them. The egg roll is okay. It's nothing to write home about. I'd be okay to skip it. It's a solid place for good food when you're hungry and on a budget. I tried number 37 and I loved the Cantonese chow mein shrimp bowl. It comes with soft noodles and vegetables plus shrimps. Unfortunately the food was a bit too salty for my taste and after eating it I felt sick to my stomach and had a huge migraine. If your used to eating Chinese food then I recommend this place but my stomach was not. The food prices are decent for the amount of food they give you. read more

I ordered many times in eighties and nineties from this place, it was always above average, quick delivery, hot and fresh food. fast forward dec 2021.delivery took 1hr 20 min, it was not peek time or day. food was not hot at all, I found the dishes had very little flavor, also the veggies did not look fresh to me. stay away from this place, i would say any other chinese food place will be better. i have had many over the years. thanks merry xmas read more

This place is really good for some late night Chinese! It's not exactly authentic Chinese food but it's damn good for its price. You get lots for what you pay for. Unsatisfactory, All I ate that day was their ( 94a ) combination plate of chow mien , rice , spring roll,shrimp & chicken balls, and to honest I would have rather starved .The chow mien was just a bunch of flavourless bean sprouts , the chicken balls were all breading , the shrimp was alright ...NOTHING had flavour .In the end all I ate were the rice and shrimp in sadness and regret for spending money to eat there . read more

They should learn how to do Chicken Fried Rice not just rice with soy sauce and fake chicken on top that is processed chicken on top, overcooked spring rolls, burnt chicken chow mein the only good thing was their crinkle fries. Its not the most wonderful chinese take out but its not too bad. Pretty average I would say. Quality is ok, Portions are ok, delivery times are way way way too long (1.5 hours???). Price is good though. read more

HORRIBLE SERVICE, IF I COULD PUT NO STARS THATS WHAT THEY WOULD HAVE. I ordered food from this place one night (10:45 PM). I got delivery and when the guy came with the debit machine it showed transaction did not go through on his machine but it went through on my card and I had proof from my online banking which I showed him. So its a mistake on their behalf. Anyways he did not want to give me the food nor refund me but wanted me to pay him again. When I told him I would not pay twice, he than began to shout at me in my house while my children are sleeping. I wanted to avoid argument so I told him Ill print out my debit transaction and I will go to there restaurant and discuss this with the lady I placed the order with. I arrived there and tried explaining to them that they have my money and I have no food so I need a refund or I would still take the food because it was late and my guests and I were hungry. They did not give me either and I still went ahead to call Scotia and have them on speaker phone while Scotia verified the transaction did in fact go through. Even after going this far I did not get my money or refund. When I told them I would be back the next day and I want them to sign a piece of paper saying that I did not get any food or any sort of refund the delivery guys started yelling and waving his hands in front of my boyfriend and my face. In the end I did get a signature but a whole waste of time. I have filed a complaint with the BBB in Winnipeg as well as filed a charge back with my bank. I dont wish bad for anyone but this restaurant need to get there act together and for that they deserve to lose business until they gain better customer service skills. read more
