Most of my meals were delivery. I'd call in my order and one of the family members (mainly the dad back then) would happily come over to deliver my food. I have dined here a couple of times. Spicy Noodle House became my go-to place for yumminess and a bit of home cooking away from home. My favourite meal was the beef brisket in noodles. The beef brisket was tender and incredibly flavourful. It reminded me of how my mom made it, but without the turnips. This place took them out, which I appreciated! The noodles were thick and chewy. The broth was so good. I never had a disaster with the broth getting delivered to me. I also got these huge dumplings that were filled with pork goodness. Sadly, I don't see them on the menu anymore. However, if you get something similar, such as their wontons, you can't go wrong. They are so delicious and comforting. This place is generous with portions. I have also had their mooshi. I've done the pork, beef, and chicken. I am missing the vegetable to complete my mooshi mission. It was all good. It's funny how I only have had mooshi in Winnipeg. I recently did a trip there, and was invited to eat here for dinner with some friends (on their bill). Needless to say I accepted their offer. The inside is quite decent, it does have some resemblance of trying to be a Chinese restaurant. However, the servers are unsurprisingly not Asian...although the chef was, which was somewhat of a good sign. We had the special fried rice, sweet and sour veal, sweet and sour pork, shrimp with vegetables, chicken balls, beef with broccoli, BBQ pork chow mein, and ginger beef. The dishes definitely were not authentic Chinese cuisine, but it did its job in filling my stomach. For a place like this, there's not much I should complain in terms of quality standards, since it's probably the best that Steinbach can offer. Service was excellent despite our large table group. Personally, I wouldn't say no in returning if I'm ever back in Steinbach, even though I know there's the lack of authenticity here.

It has barbequed pork, shrimp, chicken, peas, carrots, and egg. They used to be generous with the fried egg, which I appreciated. I enjoyed the lemon chicken. The chicken was white meat. The sauce was yummy. The batter could have been lighter, though. I still loved it. This place has good chop suey. Can you tell that I ordered here because I love egg dishes? We placed our orders, and within 10 minutes we were brought a tray full of food, but not what we ordered. No, it was a selection of free appetizers. We each had a small serving of kimchee (good) and a 1/4 dollop of an excellent garlicky cold potato salad. Also, a plate of tempura battered onion strips with dipping sauce to share. Shortly after, our lunch dishes arrived. My dumpling soup had tender strips of pork and scrambled egg as well as pork and noodle filled dumplings. My colleagues' dishes were of saucy, thick udon-style noodles. All this for lunch and the total was $10/person including 20% tip. No, really. Now for the caveats: the place has a strange odor which I blame on what appears to be a commercial kimchee-maker in a corner of the dining room. It's a little off-putting to my nose, at least, which is not used to such aromas. Second, the place is not particularly vegetarian-friendly. The server, while friendly, did not have a high level of proficiency in English, which made it hard to negotiate which dishes had meat, which had "just a little bit" (or, as she put it in one case, "About 20%.") So I would not recommend the place for veggie folks. The decor is extremely Spartan. A hilariously kitschy touch, though, is a display case with what appears to be shellacked examples of some of the restaurant's dishes. Strange in a funny way. I'll be going back!

The California roll was already pre-made. I saw a woman start making some as I was about to head to a table and eat. It was cool seeing my food made in front of me. I enjoyed it. The man asked if I wanted teriyaki sauce. I said more would be great. There was a bit of a language barrier. I could tell that he was more comfortable asking me how many scoops of sauce I'd like.
