I discovered this store, when I was searching for St. Vincent the Paul Thrift Store. While waiting for our foods to go, at the food cart, just on the other side of the parking lot, same area, I walked in there to do a quick browse around. Hubby came back, to buy one item, we needed this week. They have stuff, that most Asian stores do not, and they have a good variety of canned and packaged foods too. We will stop by here again, when we're close to Gresham, now that we know they're here, instead of driving all the way to Beaverton! read more

This store is great. It's located closer to Gresham than many other Asian groceries so it's a nice options for folks out that way. It has a huge parking lot, and truthfully I've hardly ever seen anyone in the store for its big size. But I hope they're doing well because the place is family run and they have a wide variety of selection. Product is overflowing into boxes in the aisles. Because of that it can feel a little chaotic, but it is actually pretty organized and clean. There is a little food vendor that sells sushi and boba. read more

My new favorite Oriental Food Store. Bonus, it's not far from my house. Double Bonus. There's a new Food Cart Pod next door. I was on the hunt for Pork Fat. It's literally a "Specialty Item." I searched almost every single place that did any kind of meat sales. All the big store's had the same sad story. Pork Fat could upon request be collected over a few day's if I only wanted a few pounds. In my search of Pork Fat for Lau Lau, I found my new favorite Oriental Food store. Triple Bonus. My favorite brand of instant noodles that no other store in 25 miles of my house carries regularly is found here. Yes. It is sold online. There is a $35.00 shipping fee for all orders under $100.00 meaning I would need to buy 5 cases of noodles to wave the shipping fees. That's about 19 months of noodles, assuming I would eat several packs a week. So, no! There is more than ample parking. The employees are all super nice. They give you a snack at the cash register just to say thanks for shopping here. They have a points system that you can get free stuff from. Ton's of great deals. & check. This Asian store has a great selection. I love coming here for last minute items I need to make dinner. Owners are so sweet & always give you something for free at the register. However, I would not recommend this place for produce or meats. I'm not sure if it's the weather but you can visibly see the meat & produce that has gone bad. This store is a unknown gem! It is not as as large or organized as SF on 82nd, but it has never failed to stock everything I need to make traditional Chinese/Vietnamese cuisine. It is well positioned on the corner near my home and is never super crowded. Additionally, this store is a family owned small business rather than a huge chain like SF is, so it's always a bonus to get to support the nice owner who often cashiers for me! Unfortunately, it seems the store had to reduce some of its offerings in previous years, as there is unused space where a restaurant could be and a deli window in the back that remains empty. Every time I walk in, it seems like there is some reorganization project in the works and huge piles of things in random places. They are definitely trying to change things up! As far as items, I have been able to buy 25-50 lb bags of rice, mochi flour, tofu, snacks and drinks, vegetarian meat products, pandan and ube extract, sweetened condensed coconut milk (which I haven't seen at other markets), all kinds of dried mushrooms, bamboo leaves, and all the canned goods (grass jelly, jackfruit, lychee) I would expect at an asian grocery store. The prices are also pretty on par, sometimes even cheaper than SF! Lastly, I want to note how nice the owners are and how they always like to start a conversation about what I am making. Found almost everything that I needed, but it took some time to find everything. . Knocked off 1 star because they need to do a better job of organizing the food with like items. Circled the aisles for 10 minutes trying to find the sweet rice flour, which wasn't with the other flours. It was on the lower shelves in the candy section. Had to ask an employee who was restocking canned goods and he told me it was either one aisle or the next. He wasn't sure. Food was reasonably priced otherwise and store was clean. Cashier threw in 2 drink boxes of some kind of floral milk tea. Said they were complimentary and were a good source of collagen for healthy skin and nails. I think she was just trying to move out inventory on a non-selling item since it's not the sort of thing one would readily reach for at the store. Kind of odd, too that the shelves were all labeled with a small orange price sticker under each item...that's it. Checked my receipt and thankfully wasn't up charged for anything. read more

I've been a regular shopper at this store for years, as they carry staple items that are hard to find elsewhere. Today I enjoyed perusing their selection of tropical fruit beverages, iced coffees, teas, boba, etc. This is the place to go in Gresham for a specialty exotic beverage treat! I also love their frozen seafood selection--they've got almost everything! There's a sushi bar/deli in one of the front corners of the store, although I have not tried it yet, I plan on trying it soon. They also regularly have delicacies such as balut and other rare cuts of meat. The people who work here are very kind and give customers free treats with each purchase. My family has been shopping here since their old location. I think my mom might have been one of their very first customers. This is a wonderful family ran business with wonderful folks running things. It feels like shopping with close family when you're there. Everyone is helpful, welcoming, and so friendly. At other Asian stores in Portland, the employees have not been that helpful, and I end up aimlessly wandering the store trying to find items on my own. Here, they know exactly where to point me to find what I need. They have lots of stock of Asian groceries we need and love. Their ramen and snack selection is amazing. I also loveeeee that they carry a ton of my favorite Hawaiian snacks. With Covid ramped up again, I can't catch a flight there so I'll close my eyes and pretend I'm in Hawaii, when eating snacks from here. They had to move, but honestly I like their new location way better. It's huge, and the parking lot is huge and better yet, if we take the back roads from Happy Valley, there isn't insane Portland traffic. We will definitely heading here for our Asian grocery needs, I recommend you all do the same. Supporting small family businesses is the best way to go! I really enjoy this asian grocery store. We don't really have any commercial chain asian grocery stores on the east side (you'll have to cry in H-Mart in Beaverton, lol), and so this independent store really has filled an important role. The actual store is in a very large building, and has a very large parking lot. I don't recall what was here previously, but it was a large retail location. This store has quite a few goods and stocked shelves, but it still feels a bit "empty" just because of how large the space is. They've used part of the open space to sell non-food household items. I've always enjoyed finding interesting things to try. There are a number of fresh produce options that you wouldn't find elsewhere, and the meat section had several good options (we enjoyed some bulgogi BBQ). There are also quite a few frozen cases, full of everything from whole fish all the way to bubble tea frozen popsicles (yes, they are as good as you are imagining). The staff who I've interacted with have been very friendly. When you check out, they often include a small gift, which is just a nice touch. While it may be the same size physically as a larger grocery store, it really feels like a family business. This place is great. I've been to most of the Asian stores in the Portland area and I would have to say that this is in my top 5. It's clean and they have a decent selection. It's not overwhelmingly big or anything but I am able to find things here that even Fubonn doesn't care. Also if you are Filipino or just want some Filipino snacks, this is the place to go. I. LOVE. THIS. PLACE!!! I'm not sure if the owner is Taiwanese but a super nice gentleman who was helping me find the incense turns out to be from Taiwan, where my family is from. Once he found out I'm Taiwanese it felt super familial! He gave my son some yummy snacks. And was just super friendly and helpful! Now onto the actual location. Great location, it's big!!! Loads of stuff and a lot of stuff from Taiwan and Korea! It seems to be under construction in some parts of the shop. But they have EVERYTHING nostalgic I grew up with. A well known family owned Asian grocery store for years that moved to a different side of town. It honestly works out nicely for me since I work nearby so it's a perfect stop on my drive home to grab groceries for dinner. The store is very spacious and carry everything that you'd be looking for, and more importantly, what you're not looking for. Just a great quality no frills store with kind and happy customer service. A big store with small store appeal! This grocery store offers everyone a great mix of Asian, SE Asian, South Asian and Pacific Island foods, spices, sauces, drinks and dry goods. Love coming here! Not my first choice for fresh produce since the store isn't very heavily trafficked, but they always have trendy items and the Asian household essentials. The staff is always kind and the products are priced well. Great little Asian market! It's off a side street, so unless you're looking for it, you would never see it. Turn in by the Big 5 off of 82nd. It's not a huge store, but they have a good variety of products--especially non-refrigerated items. The produce section is a bit sparse, so I'd have to go to Fubonn for that. In general, prices are lower than Fubonn, but more than Asia Food Center. I am most excited to try their in-house roasted pig. Unfortunately, I went on the only day they don't have it for sale (Tuesday). As others have noted, the workers are friendly, and you get an free goodie when you spend a certain amount! It's like when they used to drop down little goodies at Fantastic Sam's--you never know what you'll get. We spent about $45 and got a bag of taro chips--fun! read more

This is a great neighborhood oriental food market that has anything and everything that you could ever need. We come here for really great prices on coconut milk and cream and Asian sauces like sweet chili, teriyaki ,soy, rice wine vinegar, sesame oil and hoisin. We like the fresh produce and the prices. This is a great stop for rice paper wraps, dried mushrooms and currys. The fresh yakisoba noodles in the refrigerated area are the best we've ever had when we're in the mood for stir fry and want a change from rice. The cashiers are always friendly helpful and quick in there blue gloves. They also have a very large selection of kitchen and cooking utensils, pots, burners, mortar and pestle, plates, dishes, bowls, strainers, steamers... It would be pretty difficult to try and avoid sounding like a total white girl, so I'm just gonna lay it all out there: I don't know what half of the stuff is that isn't labeled in English, but everything I've had is awesome AND cheap. They have a great selection of all the basics: noodles, rice, tea, weird random sodas, pickled veggies including super yummy kimchi, and a pretty amazing looking seafood selection that is super fresh (smell the freshness!) I also go here for roasted seaweed (way cheaper than anywhere else) and rice seasonings. But the best part of the whole experience is the service. Every single time I visit, the cashier is friendly in the most GENUINE way. The last time I went, the cashier told my roomie and I hilarious stories about these "crazy Caucasian ladies" and was so taken with us, she gave us both free teas that she's been into lately. This place seems pretty alright. It's definitely a bit of a relic... the building, that is. You can tell that whatever was here before, the Oriental Market just moved in, neon 'Video Library' signs and all. The space reminds me of the department store from Gremlins for some reason. But filled with Asian groceries. I came in looking for some fresh local kimchi (based on other reviews) but the shelf labeled for it was completely empty. It looked like there were some decent offerings in the coolers and freezers and dry goods sections other than what I was looking for, but I was on a fairly singular mission. Oriental Food Value used to be A-OK when they were the closest and pretty much only game in the 'hood. But, now that I can get fresh noodles a block away and go to Fubonn for everything else I want and more, and it's also fresher - the Food Value has become a store of last resort. Things that make me sad: the months old piles of An Xuyen bread and pastries by the front counter, the anemic selection of ramen, the general disorganization of the store, the FISH on the PA, the curt cashier lady, the desert like parking lot, the fountains that they never turn on.
