Found my favorite, close(20 min away) Asian market. They have so many seasonings and mixes and sauces that we like. They even had canned juices from Hawaii as well as lau lau and Kalua pork. Not a bad little asian market if you're looking to pick up some specialty items. They had almost everything we needed for sushi night, minus actual fresh fish. But they had almost everything that we would normally get at a Mitsuwa back home, just in a smaller, tight spaced store. Good selection of sauces and snacks. No other game in town, so really the only place to get anything that you can't find in the Safeway "asian" aisle. read more

For a smaller Asian market, they do have a good variety of both dry and wet goods. It is on the more pricier range, but that is to be expected especially because they don't have any competition in the nearby area and because importing exotic foods is expensive already. I often come here to buy the whole fish and the tofu... it would be awesome if they had more variety in their vegetables section though. Note if I am grocery shopping by myself, then I will actually bike to the store. It does say that Sorya has bike parking but that is incorrect - they don't have bike racks in the front of their store or any nearby... when I come out to Sorya, I actually have to park my electric bike at the Grocery Outlet store in the next plaza ‍ oh well, at least I get more steps in for the day, lol Overall, I highly recommend this place! read more

I was looking for local Asian markets on this side of the river, and this is the first one that popped up. I hadn't been to this particular area, so I ended up missing the driveway for this plaza, which I felt was a bit hidden. I ended up parking in the next parking lot and walked over. This place has a reasonably diverse selection. There are notably two areas to the store, and it was fun to walk around and see what was available. The prices are a bit higher than I was expecting, but I was definitely paying for the convenience to avoid having to make an extra trip to Beaverton. I believe the minimum requirement to use your card was $5, but that was not an issue for me since my purchases started to add up (lol). Some gems from this visit included Japanese sweet potatoes and Asian pears, since there are no good alternatives found at American markets nearby. read more

Went on a hunt for canned jackfruit and found this store on here. Called beforehand to inquire about their stock of jackfruit and there was no answer. The store was cramped and extremely overpriced. I asked the woman at the checkout counter where or if I could locate canned jackfruit and she acted like my inquiry was an imposition. Found it priced at $4/can. Due to the fact it is so difficult to locate, I reluctantly purchased a few cans. When I left, I thought Grocery Outlet might have some so I popped in and sure enough they did. $2/can felt more appropriate. They were helpful and kind. I know there's at least one other Asian Market in Vancouver that undoubtedly has to be better. Unless you are of Asian descent, I would recommend avoiding Sorya. read more

Parking is absolutely impossible. There is alot of products PACKED into a shoebox. The customers lined up to checkout are unbelievable. The only way to fix this problem is to take reservations for parking. I'm not likely to return. read more

I've been shopping here for years for Chinese cooking supplies. Always friendly service. Small store with lots of Asian food. There is a selection of produce, frozen, seafood, and canned goods/cooking supplies. They don't have Indian spices/food. read more

Awesome little market that is jam packed with a LOT of products, including frozen meats!! Wishing I had of taken my cold bag for such purchases, but next time I'll do so, as I'm definitely going to return. If one goes there seeking a particular item, don't hesitate to ask & they will promptly take one to where it is. The only reason for 4 stars vs 5 is that quite a few of the items had no pricing & I am not one who wants to constantly ask, whether it be beforehand or at the register- I will simply not purchase the item. This is honestly my favorite FAVORITE asian market I have been to in a long time. We have been to quite a few between Portland and Vancouver and this one is just close to home and lovely. We can't help but to get the fresh steam buns they have - and only $1 each!! They have a wide array of produce, drinks, condiments, meats and snacks. They are always so friendly and helpful. Their variety really helps me pick and choose what I want. And the lovely thing is a lot of their stuff is cheaper than most grocery stores - sesame paste for $3 vs. $6. Perfection! Their parking lot if shared with several buildings and always crowded so be prepared for that. Otherwise I would highly recommend them! read more

The produce we purchased has been wonderful, we were able to find everything we needed to stock our pantry for various Asian recipes, and the woman behind the counter was absolutely wonderful! We'll go back just to see that woman again, but also because this is the best Asian grocery we've found in the county. read more

We've been in here a few times over the last year. We've found a few really good buys for when my gf wants to cook an Asian inspired dish. The amount of rice they offer is pretty impressive (it is quite a bit cheaper in Portland we've noticed). The seafood is frozen which is fine, but it's also pretty pungent in the store from the fish. Produce is just ok, not great. Very good selection of dry goods. Try to avoid their steamed buns they sell hot next to the register....too sweet and doughy! Employees are always friendly. read more

Visited this place a couple of months back. A tiny hole in the wall market jam packed with all sorts of Asian food stuff and veggies. At the time we dropped by, some freshly steamed char su bau was being placed in the case, had to get one of those, very tasty. Get your furikake here! read more

This store has your international grocery items that maybe difficult to find around the area. I love their Asian snacks selections. They have Lay's potato chips from, I believe Thailand. I had all their flavors and all were great. If you love spam musubi like I do, this place does not disappoint. There are spam musubis and spam sushi in a cooler box. You may have to ask and they usually go gone fast so get there early. I usually grab their spam sushi but both are great. In my opinion, they have the best spam musubis even better than in Hawaii. Besides snacks, they also carry one of my favorite Stout beer called Angkor. It is rare and when it is available, best believe some.bottles will go home with me. read more

Another great market in the international food plaza. This place has so many great things. I stocked up on ginseng, shrimp dumplings, coconut pudding, all the condiments. I love Sorya! Fresh fruit and veggies - including Durian and persimmons and so much more. They carry several brands of anything you could need for Asian cooking, with very reasonable prices! Would give 5 stars, but they carry no fresh or frozen chicken and I ended up getting home with one expired coconut milk. Otherwise, I love it. Go here for great large bags of rice! I'm used to hole in the wall Asian markets... but this one takes the cake. Moving down from Seattle, I was a little disappointed there weren't many options for Asian groceries in the Vancouver area. It's a little annoying having to make a trek to Portland just to get my fill of Asian goodies. So, I was excited to find this market via yelp. It's situated between some Latin mercados and parking is pretty tight. The store itself had a stale smell to it and was pretty dark. Presentation as a whole was a hot mess. Vegetables were old (ie. shriveled flaccid cucumbers) I found tofu that expired today in the fridge. Aisles weren't well stocked and had no rhyme or reason with organization to why certain products were sitting with others. Cleanliness... well you get the picture. All in all, I walked in excited and left pretty depressed that this was one of the only options for an Asian store in the area. So, onto Portland I will go . read more

What would I do without the good folks at Sorya Asian Market..? (Probably starve.) As the nearest Asian market to my new home (since leaving Portland), it is easily my favorite store. The prices are reasonable and the selection is AMAZING! Need sweet potato leaves? Go to Sorya! Need a bag of Aji Kim Chee? Go to Sorya! Wanna warm your hands on delicious barbecue pork-filled steamed hom bao? For a dollar?! GO TO SORYA! My only real complaint is that the little shopping area where it's located can be incredibly busy, so sometimes I'll need to circle around a time or two for parking. And that I get cold easily, and it's cold inside. But the customer service is awesome and I've never had to go somewhere else to find something I expect to find at Sorya. Please stay awesome Sorya. Tola Angkor isn't nearly as awesome. read more

Was looking for a big octopus to make Galician tapas with and found a 6# monster in their frozen fish department. There is no complete Asian market in the PDX area where everything you need is in one location. That's not uncommon, even in California. All that said, they have a nice selection of Asian stuff. Of note, XL rice sticks which I use to make chow fun, mondo octopus, chicken feet, soup bones, inexpensive Asian dinnerware and cooking gadgets, decent dried spices selection and a nice selection of rice. Oh, almost forgot the best part, spam and egg musubi at the check out register, made by the check out person. Definitely going to give it a try next time. Not great for Indian and Korean ingredients but decent for Chinese, Japanese and Vietnamese. Fair for Thai. It's an Asian market so it smells like an Asian market, it is cluttered and poorly lit and you are on your own as far as finding stuff. I didn't take a good look anther produce but it looked hit or miss. If you can live with that, check it out. read more

Was not happy with the customer service there they where very rude to me when asked where the lumpia wrappers where and when I went to the wrong cash register and noticed I had another customer came in the cashier was nice to them then went back to being rude to me .I was nice the whole time but will never shop at your store again . I come here all the time now. Not only do they have great prices and a good selection, the place is clean and smells okay ( I hate to generalize, but I've been in a few odorous Asian Markets and since there were so many of them that smelled, I thought they all did). I come in for the sauces, rice and vegetables. I get such better quality rice, I honestly didn't know that there were better kinds and the price is so much better. I buy bok choy, green onions, shallots, ginger and thai basil for much better prices than I can find at my local big chain store. Sorya is a great little neighborhood market, even my kiddo likes it, he usually picks out some sort of treat like chocolate filled panda cookies, coffee nuts or taro sesame rolls (these were dry and blandy, but hey, don't know if you don't try it, right it?). I found tubs of gochujang to make korean foods. Nanami Togarish to sprinkle on my sushi rice. Rice papers for making salad rolls and about a dozen different kinds of soy sauce (I like the dark soy now). The frozen foods section has an abundance of frozen fish and premade foods, eggrolls, dumplings and roti. I found a packet of frozen, grated ube (purple sweet potato) and plan to sue it to make a delightful pie or brownies (google sweet potato brownies if you want a droolfest). There are exotic fruits like guava, jackfruit and mangosteen. In the canned goods you can find a strange selection of lychees, pickles and ube jam. There is always a full steamer full of buns at the cash register and there are desserts in the front refrigerated case, they look like the old KFC Parfaits, but if you get closer you will see that they seem to consist of sweetened coconut, rice and beans dyed to brilliant unnatural colors. I've never tried them, I'm pretty dull when it comes to eastern desserts, I like chocolate, cheesecake and pretty much every variety of sundae. But someday I will be brave. There are some interesting teas, avocado tea, coconut and the like and the tapioca you could use to make Boba teas at home. All in all, well worth a visit. read more
