Though a small neighborhood oriental market, it is extraordinarily well stocked. The goods represent a pretty even balance across both food types: dry goods, sauces, meats (including fresh frozen), vegetables, etc., and across cuisine types: Korean, Japanese, Chinese, and SEA. I believe I could make any of the mainstay home meals from any of those regions from what's in the market now. They also had many of the snacks I remembered as a kid growing up in those places (USAF brat -later USAF). I will be going back here often for certain. Clean, friendly, and reasonable. read more

I was nervous about having access to Korean/Asian ingredients when I first moved to the area, but I've been able to get pretty much everything I need from this market. Prices are definitely cheap enough for the convenience of not having to cross state lines for groceries. Well-stocked fridge/freezer section in the back. There's also a case in the front with banchan (prepared side dishes), dduk (rice cakes), marinated meats. They sometimes have Korean pastries also. Always clean, merchandise is well-organized, staff are courteous. I don't miss the huge Asian supermarkets as much as I thought I would. Happy to support this neighborhood gem. read more

Advertised as "fresh and clean," this little market lives up to it billing. Owned by a Korean family, there is an attention to detail and even some unusual fair like the live blue crabs moving around in an unassuming bin in the back. There is a broad variety of offerings (they have my Thai ingredients) but not much selection with each product (only 3 fish sauces). Prices are quite low which is much appreciated. I didn't find the abundant staff too friendly, mostly for the language barrier, I would imagine. If you shop along Grape Road, you will find what you need in a clean, orderly environment at good prices. But, if you come with many questions, Saigon Market downtown is the very best option! read more

I'm a really new home cook and I love staying true to cultural recipes this market is very well priced and easy to maneuver I've never been to an oriental market before this one and I found most items very quickly. My wife and I recently moved to Indiana from the East Coast where Korean supermarket chains are abundant... so we were worried how we would get our Korean groceries while staying here the next few years. My wife found this little market so we paid a visit today. What I found was that yes, this place leans mainly to Korean cuisine, then Japanese&Chinese, Thai & Vietnamese (in descending order) but there was such an attention put in the selections because virtually EVERYTHING that I could ask for... were there. Even hard, miscellaneous items that I didn't expect to be on the shelf of such a small market... were there. They had the rice, frozen dumplings, good selection of both korean and japanese instant noodles, gourmet korean noodles (in refrigerator), thai curry sauces, vietnamese spring roll wraps, japanese hondashi, japanese pink ginger, peeled chestnuts, even frozen cleaned mackerel and japanese gummy snacks! In New Jersey, I actually had to go to Korean market and a Japanese market to get some of these items... and drive a good 30 minutes to get there. Now out of nowhere in Indiana with very low Korean (and Asian) population overall, I have a ONE STOP place for all these only 5 min away. The owner was very friendly and young man at the register was very pleasant. Prices were very reasonable and I just can't say anything bad about this place nor do I want to. Go out and support these little gems! I will mention that being a small shop, they do not have fresh meats and fish, but hey, there're like walmart and meijers a stone's throw away so no problems, right? ^^ I encourage American folks to try learn Korean/Asian cuisine by shopping here because this little gem got the goods! read more

I like this place! The main attraction for me is the location, because I can stop in there to buy my rice noodles for $1.59 and get a little box of Pocky. I'm new to Asian cooking, so a lot of the stuff in here is a little unfamiliar to me, but when I try a new recipe, I always go to the Oriental Market and get my ingredients for less than half of what they charge at Meijer or Kroger. I'm sure they don't have the best selection in town, being a pretty small place with a limited section of refrigerated items, but the people are great and this is a nice place to stop and pick up the basics. read more

Wonderful place. Exceptionally clean. The staff are always very courteous to me. The prices are not as low as Saigon Market and the selection of fresh produce is a bit more sparse. HOWEVER I prefer to go to this market 1,000 times more than Saigon. The vegetables are always of the highest order: Freshest and best tasting. And, anyway, produce in an Asian grocers is always cheaper than any of the larger grocery stores so talking about price is liking splitting hairs. Go for the fresh stuff! I have never purchased any of the deli items such as various banchan. On Saturdays, they sometimes have fresh Kimbap and I have tried that. It was very good. All Asian staples are present and accounted for + a selection of more specific Japanese and Korean goodies. I am often able to postpone my semi-annual trips to Mitsuwa by supplementing my pantry with items from this little gem. I cannot recommend this place enough. Absolutely love it. read more

Great little market! This store definitely leans more towards Korean and Japanese food, and their selection isn't as wide as some other markets in town, but what they do carry is very good. I agree with others who find this to be a very solid, clean, friendly, well priced place. The Korean leaning is apparent, but one can find most things here for Southeast- and East-Asian cooking. Weakest link is probably Thai, but no shop that i know of around here does great with that. (Saigon Market is the make-do in that regard.) One could wish the fridge produce section were larger, but space is limited, and their freshness is impeccable, in my experience. You can walk out of here with rice and ginger and tamarind and bean-sprouts and soys and so forth for much less than you'd pay at Meijjer or Martin's--and fresher, to boot! read more

I went to this market hoping to find ingredients to make sushi, and other foods that I've been missing since I returned from Japan. It's a Korean market, but I was amazed at the selection of Japanese food for such a small store. I was able to find all the ingredients I needed for sushi, somen, and okonomiyaki, as well as some treats like ramune, pocky, and botan rice candy. Aside from the Japanese, they had a wide selection of Korean food, Chinese, and a smaller section with Vietnamese, and other Asian foods. I love the place, and the rest of my family (who aren't really fond of Asian food) had a great time looking around. They have a small fresh produce section, and also a wall of frozen food. I didn't bother to look at the frozen food as I wouldn't have been able to get it home before it spoiled. (I live an hour away and had other plans for the night) They also have a section in a corner with dishes and cooking utensils, as well as chopsticks. We easily spent half an hour looking around, just because there was so much to discover. Compared to a large Japanese market that I sometimes go to in Chicago, some of the items here are almost half the price. We bought over $100 in groceries, and let me tell you, we could tell that it made the owners day. He had a huge smile on his face, and he was really friendly and packed up all the glass jars carefully for us so they wouldn't break. It may be a small store, but they have a great selection for the size and location, and it's a small business that you should definitely support. Like I said, I live an hour away from the South Bend area, but I would be willing to drive up their once a month to get my Asian groceries. That's how much I love this little place. read more

This is a korean market. They have homemade korean food that they sell near the front...pretty good. And they have both frozen and dry korean foods and supplies...and also sell things like chopsticks and bowls and stuff. Owners are nice as well. read more
