Worst Taxi Service ever! We were on our way to SFO airport for a family emergency (already stressed and booked last minute tickets) and the BART broke down at Orinda station. Rather than risk being late/missing our flight, we decided to take a taxi outside the station. We got the WORST luck with cabbie Rommel and his first day on the job. We said SFO airport and he asked us if we had an address. So, not only did he not know how to get to the airport, he also could not navigate on his own with GPS. I had to pull up Google Maps on my phone and give him step by step instructions (including which lane to be in) to get us to the airport. Once we got there he asked if we had cash - the cost was $90 something with the toll. We did not have that much cash on us so he proceeded to pull out a carbon copy credit card form. He took 15 minutes to fill out all the information and wanted us to sign a receipt without an amount on it. No way, man, no way! Riding with this taxi service makes me ONLY want to use UBER from now on. What a terrible experience and added stress on top of an already stressful situation. Definitely WILL NOT USE this service ever again. read more

Will not pick up for rides they do not like, like going from home to BART. Pretty sure they screen calls with caller ID so that they don't even answer calls from people who had previously requested what they consider undesirable trips. Realizing that sometimes my trips were shorter than they preferred I always tipped very well. And on occassions I would change my mind and have driver take me all the way to airport. Orinda Taxi has lost me as a customer and I recommend everyone stay away from this company because of poor community support and bad business practices. read more

I called for a pickup at Peet's Coffee Orinda today, Tuesday May 28, 2019 at 6:30pm. The driver confirmed the pickup location at Peet's Coffee and even confirmed the destination address for drop-off. After waiting almost 40 minutes NO SHOW. I DO NOT RECOMMEND ORINDA TAXI FOR YOUR LOCAL TRIPS. read more

If there was a half star, I would have given that. I have to give them props for nice vehicles and MOST drivers are nice. Except that all this good points was wiped away by this 1 female driver and her name is JEN. She is Caucasian, in her late 40s and have brown curly hair. She also have a crazy look in her eyes If you need a cab in Orinda & she is the one driving it. I suggest that you turn away & save yourself a ride from hell. The first time I rode with this woman. She was late. Instead of apologizing she told me "I DO NOT HAVE PATIENCE TO TALK TO YOU RIGHT NOW". As I was trying to tell her that her attitude is unbecoming of a cab driver, instead of replying SHE TURNED UP THE RADIO - LOUD. This woman is not only rude. She is psycologically & emotionally imbalanced. I gave her a 2nd chance yesterday which is a huge mistake. The lady was again very rude to me. She interrogated me about our last encounter. She was trying to tell me her rudeness was not her fault. Then she went on to lecturing me in a very vile & heated manner how I am supposed to call a cab. I was seriously afraid that is she driving me and have my life on her hands. But you know what is the worst part, when I complained to their dispatch - they told me I was just overreacting. That it is not her fault. I am a preschool teacher. I have all the patience in the world. I am NOT overreacting. Worst customer service I experience! No regard whatsoever for regular customers! Insulted my profession, told me that he would not have even picked me up if I had told him I already called another company first. Insulted me for having used uber. Argued with me the whole ride. Orinda taxi is my go to for pickups at Bart. They will be a couple dollars more expensive, but they beat the attitude of many uber or lyft driver's picking me up in the area. Pluses: Readily available. Available pickup appointments. Friendly driver's. Negatives: Old cars. Sometimes interiors are not clean. Obviously a little more expensive than ride sharing. I recommend using them from Bart. It's worth it to me, and I'm glad they're there. read more

DISCLAIMER: this review is NOT targeted at the drivers. I respect them greatly, and I know they get the frustration of riders who are truly upset with the SERVICE and not the drivers. ALSO this is only for cabs being called for pick up. The cabs at bart (where I traditionally travel from) are always friendly and talkative and have many times made my day a little brighter. Now that that's out of the way, let me explain why I'm giving this service two stars. I've used this service for over two years, and more than 80% of the time the cab is at least 10 minutes late, sometimes (usually) much later. Honestly, I used to be one of those riders who took my frustrations out on the drivers - until one night when I was strapped for time and the cab arrived 30 minutes late. At first I grumped at the driver, until he mentioned that he had only been called 14 minutes earlier. That leaves 16 minutes where, what, no one was called? Seriously? I have been late enough times that, though I truly like the drivers, if I need to be picked up I will be going to taxi bleu. read more

I used to use Orinda Taxi all the time to go the airport with very little issue. Today I was picked up by the rudest guy. Came out at 11:04am for an 11am pickup and dropped off my luggage and wanted to go back inside to say goodbye to my two year old daughter. He told me he has been waiting "forever" and that it wasn't okay for me to go back in and say goodbye to my daughter. Are you kidding me? I've never EVER had a taxi company rush me for an incredibly expensive airport trip, especially when I use the company at least twice a month. Rushing someone who is trying to leave town and leave a small daughter is despicable. If you want to add a wait time fee, go ahead, but don't be rude and awful. I usually tip 20-25% and always tip more if I was running behind, but that won't be happening today. You reap what you sow. I called the company and they told me they were sorry and to please take my time. Apparently that was an insincere sentiment. As we headed down moraga Way, he picked up his phone and texted WHILE DRIVING. I noted he was texting with the dispatcher. He said he was still waiting (he was not, we were going down the road) and they responded "OMG!" First, we were not waiting... Second, you are text complaining about someone that is about to pay you over $100 for a ride to the airport? I really question management on that one. Despicable behavior from driver and dispatcher this morning. I will be taking Moraga Taxi or Taxi Bleu from now on. Two stars because I have had drivers that were fantastic in the past. read more

This company is great. They actually give you a realistic time they will show up. They don't tell you 10 minutes unless they show up in 10 minutes. They will tell me 30 minutes when it will be 30 minutes. I use this service almost exclusively when I need a cab. All drivers I have had are considerate, and don't complain about their day. They don't care if you don't care to talk but are talkative if you are in the mood. Cars are always clean, drivers never excessively speed or do anything to make you feel uncomfortable. read more

A dirty, worn out vehicle they call a taxi with a driver who matched the vehicle. The seats were worn out like they had six figures of miles on them for sure. The driver was sullen and didn't know his way around Lamorinda at all. He could have used his cell phone for directions but he probably had one from the 1950's that required a crank and gasoline sort of like his car. He drove without being an obvious hazard although his attention was often diverted by his texting and my giving him directions to a basic major landmark. We took Lyft back from our destination. Clean, pleasant, alert driver, hybrid so it was environmentally friendly, a couple of years old. Next time let's see, pay twice as much for rent a wreck or have a nice person who drives for Lyft pick us up. (And yes, we tipped the Lyft driver to even the price we had paid to the Orinda Taxi goofball. read more

I work in Orinda and often walk down the large hill on Altarinda Road to get lunch and some days are a bit harder to walk back up the hill than others. Some days I have to rush or with the rainy weather I need help getting back to work on time. I've also used them while I was waiting for my car in the shop and both Scotty and Sam were excellent drivers, personable, on-time, and good conversationalists. Getting a cab in this area is astoundingly difficult, and Orinda Taxi doesn't help matters. I have called them on several occasions on the weekend and they have never once had a driver available. You're better off hitchhiking than expecting someone from Orinda Taxi to come pick you up. read more

I have been using orinda taxi all this school year to get my son to his tutor. It has been a standing appointment same time every week. If I don't call the day of the pick up they don't show. The last couple months there of been several times when the driver just didn't show up. But they have managed to get a drive out there late. Yesterday I called in the morning to confirm that the driver would be there to pick up my son and take him to his tutor. At 4 o'clock there was no driver when I called the company they told me they sent their driver to the airport to pick up a passenger for 3:30 pm. Even if the passengers plane came in at 3:20 anybody in the bay area knows that you can't drop off that person and still get orinda by 4pm (I make that commune 5 times a week so I know it can't be done) so why would you not send a different driver to the airport. The man at dispatch then said there were no other drivers and I had to make other arrangements! If I had other arrangements I sure the hell wouldn't be using orinda taxi right? So bottom line is this company went for the fair that would get them the most money and left a minor stranded with no ride!!!! Who does that!!! Why could the man answering the phones forward them and run get my son and take him to moraga??? These people are not dependable nor do they seem to care! They were good at first but have gone down hill quickly. Very poor planning and management of the business. He apologized but what good does that do when you have a kid sitting on the corner waiting for a ride......and no one else to call. I discovered this taxi from my daily morning trip to drop my husband off at Lafayette Bart, and decided to given them a try on Friday. I called their business line and the phone was rudely answered by a lady. I asked for the prices or estimate, for less than 2 miles, prior to my securing their service. She said "it depends on the distance, i don' t know." I said "Ok what is your base price and then each incremental price?" She said "It starts at $3 but i don't know, ask the driver when he drops you off" I then agree to forgive the company and her lack of knowledge to just secure a taxi ride for less than 2 miles. I ask if the drive carries change, she said yes. Then she tells me the driver also takes credit cards. I was ok with that statement. I ask for the driver to pick me up on the street corner (off of Mt. Diablo) near my apartment complex, my actually street address is not necessary since i wasn't being picked up at home. She rudely ask me for my address anyways, in case the driver needs to use his GPS in Lafayette. I again forgave the company and her lack of knowledge to just give her my info. Long story short, i get picked promptly (the reason for 1 star) get driven to Lafayette Bart and then found out the charge is $6, but the driver doesn't have change, nor does he take credit card for a charge less than $20 fare. Angrily I make change at Bart change machine, and pay the poor taxi driver, which profoundly apologized for the lack of brains the lady had to give me totally inaccurate information. Sorry but i will never use their service again. I have to agree with Dustin S. with the 1 Star, and will think twice about hiring local companies that do not meet their own supposed standards of quality service. read more

Called at like 6:20 am and ordered a cab to Lafayette Bart. Dispatcher had somewhat broken English but was very courteous. Cab (a pre 1995 town car, my preferred chariot) showed up in about 15 or 20, very reasonable. Driver was super, super friendly, talkative but not overly chatty. He knew how to drive 5 to 10 over the limit and got me there expediently and very safely. I really wish I got his name so I could give him the proper credit. Bill came out to 19.50, and I realize that 20 of my original 40 in my wallet went into the machine at bart. I ask if he takes credit, apparently there's a 75$ minimum. I say "shit man, all I have is a twenty, take this while I run in the house and get you a better tip." He smiled and told me it wasn't a problem - after I tried to insist, he told me again, bid me farewell and drove off sedately. Great experience. Please note that I think Orinda Taxi uses other agencies sometimes. The cab was labeled "walnut creek cab" or something of the like - so it might be that their driver was such a nice guy. read more

I called for a 4:30AM pick up to Oakland Airport from Burton Valley and they were fully 25 minutes late -- with me calling and texting several times to get an update ("he's almost there" "he's a few minutes away"). And, sorry, I expect my taxi cab drivers to move along with traffic, not peg the car at the speed limit and call it a day. Mayhap I cut the window a bit narrow, but if they'd been on time, I'd have been to my gate well before boarding. As it was I nearly missed my flight. Nice enough vehicles, but I'd really think twice here before relying on them again. * * * * Gave these guys a second try getting to and from Oakland Airport in December. On the way out they were just fine - pick up in Lafayette a couple of minutes late, but there with time to spare. On the way back, however, due to the bad winter storms, all sorts of flights were screwed up and my flight was about an hour and a half late. My driver got all sorts of bent out of shape that *I* didn't tell him and that *he'd* been sitting there for an hour and a half. Look, friend, I'm in an airplane and if your taxi company can't tell you what's going on, that's not my fault. read more

Last night our driver went to the wrong pick up address, proceeded to drive like a mad man and missed two turns. Actually backed off an exit ramp. When we got to the Central Lafayette exit his speedometer was just over 60 miles an hour with less than 80 yards to the stop sign. We paid the fare and asked to be let out of the cab because we did not feel safe. We should have reported him to the police, but we told the dispatcher. She had no other drivers to pick us up so it was a long walk home at 10pm. Well intentioned company but they have very low standards for drivers. Use at your own risk! read more

Literally the worst service I have ever received. I hope Tanya is an owner so she cannot get fired, but here is my story: I needed a ride to SFO, and I needed to leave at 4AM. First I called Taxi Bleu... Nice guy, firm price. $84 Moraga to SFO. I call Orinda Cab. When I ask them for their rate ($99) i mentions that Taxi Bleu had a better offer. Tanya brings up a time that, over a year ago, my credit card was declined, which I promptly paid for. Sorry Tanya. Taxi Bleu wins! read more

I've used Orinda Taxi once and it will be my last time. The driver completely milked the drive, and was going 20mph the entire time. He turned a 10 minute drive into a 20 minute one. This was a great experience! I was in Lafyette canyon area, with barely any reception at 2am. Lyft and Uber were not available to pick up in this area, and they sent someone over right away and got me safely to where I needed to be. The driver was fantastic I tipped him 50%. The base cost was only $5 more than the uber ride it took me to get there. Well worth the cost for service. read more

I broke my ankle -- my driving leg -- and Orinda Taxi has been a wonderful resource for me. I have gotten rides to the doctor in Berkeley, the airport (SFO), downtown SF, etc. 1. Always on time to pick me up (I live in Orinda). 2. Helpful to a person who cannot carry much of anything because he is on crutches. 3. I have been a power user of Orinda Taxi for years for OAK/SFO transfers. Great service -clean cars-bottles water-on time-friendly, etc. Sadly it was sold to new owners and the quality of service has cratered. People are very nice....but.... Cars are mostly dirty and older. Drivers tend to drive crazy fast and text/read email while tail-gating - often at the same time. I have not had the problem with scheduling others have had, but this has really slipped into the standard crappy taxi service like any others we can use around here. Sure miss previous owner "Julian" and his team.Used to be managed and operated with a differentiating client centric pride. I called to order a taxi in advance from them to get to the BART station from my house, and they were 30 minutes late!!! Kept telling me - he will be there in 10 minutes, in 5 minutes, he's already on your street. Completely unacceptable for a taxi company and unprofessional. Will never use them again. read more

Orinda Taxi has always, without question, been outstanding in it's response to my calls! Always on time, not matter where I go -- a friendb house, cafe' or SFO. The drivers are always so kind and friendly; I can't say enough good things about them. Let's not forget the dispatchers!! They, also, have always been kind, courteous and helpful. Whoa! Remember the days before Orinda Taxi!!! One was lucky if a cab would come in an hour--if at all. And the service was horrible! The day Orinda Taxi hit the streets here, I was in heaven. Worse taxi service I ever had!!! Late for up to 30 mins two times in a roll. When I called, no genuine apology and no compensation. I ordered service at 7 am and called them at 7:09 am asked why the taxi didnot show up, they blame me why I didnot call them earlier . Orinda Taxi never showed for scheduled pick up. Scheduled a pick up at 6 a.m.. Maybe 10 minutes after the pick up time I called them to ask where the driver was. Was told to wait 5 minutes. 5 minutes later, no one had arrived, so I called again. Again, I was told to wait 5 minutes. I said, okay, but it's been 15 minutes already. I have a plane to catch. Pick me up on the main drag to BART. It's a 20 minute walk. I am easy to spot. Will be pulling a suitcase. On the walk to BART I saw an Orinda Taxi so waved, but the driver didn't pull over. I just kept walking. I never received a phone call or explanation. I recommend calling Orinda Taxi only if you are okay with waiting 35 minutes or more for a pick up,or possibly not being picked up at all. read more
