Orlando has been a phenomenal tutor for my 7th grade daughter who is taking advance algebra. At the beginning of the school year we were ready to dropped that class until I found Orlando here on yelp and Google reviews. My daughter went from having a C average to now an A on algebra. She's so much more confident now in math more than ever and she looks forward to her tutor time.

Failed 2 of my tests and got a D on the other. Altogether I had an F in the class.

Orland is the best tutor that I have ever had! I've always been able to do math on my own and never really struggled with it. This year I have been failing Trigonometry Pre Calculus. I thought I understood every concept but I would fail every single test. My parents thought it best to hire a tutor. I did not like the sounds of that. I was afraid that my tutor would not be able to get points across to me well and would not be very understanding. Orland is the opposite! He is very understanding and stops at nothing to make you sure you understand every concept. He is also very kind and a great motivator. After about 3 sessions when I took my next test I passed with a B+. If you need a tutor, Orland is the best! Hiring him as a tutor was the best decision my parents and I have made.

This is the improvement I have experienced with Orland's tutoring and I couldn't be any happier!

As a mother, I am furious and heartbroken over what happened here…read more My daughter joined this center's after-school homework program. Her first day went smoothly -- she used one of their laptops and finished her work without any problem. I trusted that she was in a safe, structured place. But on her second day, she opened the laptop they assigned her and was shocked to find an explicit g*y p**n videos site (P**n H*b.com) already open -- filled with content completely inappropriate for children. She was disgusted and immediately reported it to the supervisor I received a call from the center about the incident. As soon as I heard what happened, I went there furious and deeply concerned. I asked to speak to the owner but was told the owner was "out of town." I spoke with the manager on duty, who admitted the laptop had an inappropriate site open but claimed it was from a "previous user." When I asked to see the site myself, they refused, saying they had already closed it and deleted the browser history -- but they mentioned that before doing so, they had taken a photo on the manager's personal cellphone "for documentation." I asked them to send me that photo, but they refused because it was on her personal phone. I then asked her to at least show me the photo, and when she did, I took a picture of her phone screen for my own record. Later, when I reviewed the picture I took, I realized something very concerning: the photo they showed me was of the YouTube tab that was open next to the inappropriate explicit contents tab. It is shocking that even when documenting an incident like this, they changed the tab and took a photo of the youtube tab not the tab subject of the incident. That means they concealed the real content and tried to minimize what happened. Too bad the PH.com tab was still showing next to the Youtube tab. I asked them to document the incident in writing. The "incident report" they produced was extremely vague and incomplete, failing to describe the seriousness of what actually happened. This wasn't just negligence -- it was also deceptive handling of a serious exposure incident involving a child. The lack of supervision, the absence of parental controls, and then the attempt to hide the full truth are absolutely unacceptable for any place that works with children. Parents, please take this as a serious warning. There's more than tutoring happening here, and what happened to my daughter should never happen to anyone else's child. Ask to see how they monitor their devices and what safeguards they actually have -- don't assume your child is protected.

If you have a kiddo that is ADHD, Autistic (or you've at least always suspected them being on the spectrum), ODD (Oppositional Defiant Disorder), explosive anger issues, you are a mom/dad-ager instead of mom/dad, your kiddo is generally not happy, and the list goes on.........Brain Balance helped us! It's been a long road for us starting way before finding Brain Balance........so long story short... My daughter loved her coaches, they were all so sweet and had the patience of saints! I could see that they loved helping kids and were truly compassionate about what they were doing. My daughter looked forward to each session and always came out with a smile. A few weeks later my quiet, non-social, little bug was blooming. She said "HI" to another kid we passed at the grocery store. Then, when she went to the playground with Dad she went up to a group of maybe 6 girls around her age and asked to play. She had the BEST time. She talked about it for weeks. Her tantrums were no longer tantrums, they were outbursts that were short lived. She was FUNNY!!!! She was becoming more and more lively! You couldn't help but smile around her. And then it hit me.......she was NOT happy before.....but NOW.....she was genuinely HAPPY!!!! She was JOYFUL!!! THANK YOU BRAIN BALANCE! Thank you for bringing joy into our family's lives. Thank you for helping her find her own happiness. Thank you for all the love and support you all gave along the way....we'll see you soon.

At…read morefirst, I was confused about the process because the kids were given packets to complete and bring home. I kept thinking to myself, is this going to be too much with everything else going on? With such a busy schedule and kids not always loving math, I wasn't sure how it would go. To my surprise, the kids actually got excited about finishing their take-home work. They started enjoying math more and looked forward to completing their assignments. That shift in attitude really changed my perspective, and it made me appreciate the structure Kumon provides. One feature I really like is the flexibility of choosing between paper and tablet. We decided to switch from paper to tablet, and Mr. Joe, the manager, was incredibly helpful during that process. He was very easy to talk to, accommodating, and genuinely kind. It's clear that he cares about both the kids and the parents' experience. The tutors are also amazing. They are patient, understanding, and really take the time to work with each child. One thing that stood out to me is how attentive they are with safety. If the lobby is full and we are waiting in the car, the staff will walk the kids out or wait with them outside. That extra effort gives me peace of mind and shows how thoughtful the whole team is. Overall, Kumon has been a very positive and supportive environment for our kids. Not only are they learning, but they are also developing confidence and independence.

Now that she is finishing 5th grade I am amazed at what she is capable of doing! On a side note my son saw her in Kumon and asked to enroll (which he now regrets). He just finished 7th grade algebra and will be taking Geometry as an 8th grader!

I remember in just one month she had my son actually reading. She worked so hard with my son who was struggling from ADHD. Through out the years she has advocated diligently for him. It literally started from Elementary School to High school. She was also present in all of his IEPs and became our voice. She also assisted us in taking away his IEP at the right time. Even when covid hit it didn't stop her from tutoring my son. He has now graduated from high school and attending college. His future looks amazing. Also, if he struggles in college he knows that the Alternative Reading Center will assist him. Thank you very much. Also, to any parents that are looking into the Alternative Reading Center I highly recommend them. She will tailor a program just for your child . My only advice is consistency that leads to growth. I have always incorporated his tutoring as part of one of my bills and an investment in his future. The staff mentioned it was very difficult and competitive. And maybe it is but it is not their job to discourage or feel anyone discriminated. They are decently friendly, but it seems like no one at the desk is ever authorized to actually do anything aside from taking your info down and saying they'll reach out to you (no one ever reaches out, by the way, shocker). I've visited over 8-10 times in the last 5 months, and the "higher-ups" are always out of the office or in meetings--every single time. I applied in August 2025 and it took 2 weeks and 3 visits just for them to even find my application because it supposedly got "filed into spam." Most CCs take 48 hours MAX. Because of that "spam incident," my financial aid was severely delayed. Even though I'm a California native, they flagged me as a non-resident and said they needed my official high school transcripts to prove it. Contacting LAUSD for transcripts is a nightmare and takes 3-4 months, but the admissions supervisor gave me a verbal green light to take my Fall classes anyway. She promised they would backdate the waiver and clear the non-resident tuition once the transcripts arrived. I finally brought my transcripts in today, and now they're saying it's 50/50 if the dean will even honor that since the Fall semester is already over. To make it worse, the dean has been out for the last 2 days and they had no idea when she'd even be back. They refused to even schedule an in person appointment with her for me. I even offered to set it for this Friday or even weeks out and told them they could just call to cancel if she wasn't in, and they still said no. If someone is going to be out indefinitely, they need to bring in someone else to fill in and handle their responsibilities! I understand things and emergencies happen, but there is still business to be handled. Now they're saying they can guarantee Spring will be cleared, but I can't enroll in any classes until the $500 Fall balance is paid. What sense does that make?? Had I known this would happen, I never would've enrolled for Fall, but I trusted the supervisor's word. I'm beyond disappointed. The staff is friendly, but they need a new chain of command if the bosses are always gone. It shouldn't be this hard to better my future. I'm now pursuing enrollment at another college because I can't deal with this faulty system anymore. Advice to future students: save yourself the headache and explore other schools if you can. If you do happen to end up here DO NOT take verbal promises here. Get everything time-stamped and in writing or you'll end up stuck with a bill you weren't expecting.
