They have always been honest and professional when discussing our expectations. You truly never know what will show up at any given time. I once bought a brand-new wolf tanning system, a Vegas slot machine, and a high-end Italian cappuccino maker all at an extremely low price. I have bought beautiful high end outdoor furniture at a fraction of the retail price. I actually think I have re-modeled my home at least three times without intention but found such great quality pieces. Just one word of advice..... I've been attending auctions in the Orlando area for over 40-years now and this auction definitely has the best inventory selection around. They only accept the nicer end of stuff and always have a large quanity of 'Lowes' return items (mostly new returns) including power tools, doors and windows, ladders, gas tools, and many other Lowes brand things. Some are sold with 'guarantees' and those will usually have a large letter 'G' on them, and some are sold 'As Is'. The ones that are marked Guaranteed usually mean they will guarantee it works for the first 48-hours after you buy it so my suggestion is to test it quickly after you buy it. If you buy it 'As Is' is means just that. It may work, it may not! No guarantee. The owner Jason moves the stuff through very quickly and doesn't play around. He does tend to get a little 'high strung' sometimes but I guess if I were responsible for all the stuff he's selling, and also having to cut checks to the various consignors after the sale and make sure their stuff doesn't get broken in between I'd be a little 'high strung' to. My suggestion..., just stay out of his way before and especially 'during' the auction when he's trying to keep things moving. And make sure you don't touch anything in the areas that say 'don't touch'. You can always go on Friday and touch all you want, just not on auction day if it says not to. Otherwise you'll quickly get to meet him, and without an invitation!! :) If you avoid those two pitfalls you'll likely have a good time and probably even bring something home with you. A few more pointers.... The auctioneer is a guy name Jeff who has been 'calling' local auctions for years and is among the best there is. He's friendly and sometimes makes everyone crack up with his false "LOOK OUT!!" that he screams at his ring men right in the middle of selling an item, pointing over their head as he screams suggesting something is about to fall on their heads, as they all quickly duck for cover. Funny as sh-- when that happens!! And he knows perfectly how to 'set it in' to start the bidding on just about any item he's selling. In short, he's the perfect balance to keep everyone having a good time and spending money and at the same time doing the best possible for the consignors of each item being sold. Unfortunately, however there is the occasional 'kick back' where the bidding on an item is not brining what is wanted and it's 'kicked back' by Jason by use of a ghost bidder number. These numbers vary (I know most of them) but the most common number used at this auction is bidder #129. There are a few others as well but this number is the most frequently used here. It's not hard to pick up on them if you just watch and observe. And to be fair this occurs at many/most auction houses, even though they usually claim to be "absolute". If you are a regular auction attendee you'll know what I mean. And lastly, I've had a couple of negative experiences here buying Pokemon cards for my teenage son. So without going into detail my suggestion is to stay away from those, if that is something you're ever interested in. I'll leave it at that.. . Overall, I would give this auction a '4' out of '5' due to the way the auction is conducted, the quality of stuff they sell, and of course by the professionalism of all the staff, including the auctioneer, the ring staff, and the office staff. Even Jason who's actually a nice guy, just gets a little tense sometimes when the auction starts! If you haven't been there, check it out. You'll likely have fun. By the way, they post photos of their items every Wednesday evening on their web site. Very convenient to preview in advance of Saturday. Another plus!! I frequently shop auctions for art and have been doing so for nearly 10 years. Over that time, I have made many purchases. Having said that, in all the years I have been dealing with artwork I have never had to write a negative review on an auction house until I had the misfortune of dealing with Jacob at The Orlando Estate Auction House (OEAH). As is typically the case, I was notified via email that an artist I follow had a piece of artwork coming up for sale at OEAH. So, I went out and took a look at the images of the piece. After reviewing all of the photos I decided to ask a question through an online email system to determine the actual condition of the piece since the only close up image they provided looked to have some light craquelure present in a few areas of the lower left hand corner of the artwork. Additionally, I was also interested in the overall condition of the piece since the restoration process is expensive and this particular artist would never justify having the artwork restored. My actual correspondence to OEAH: "It appears from one of the images that the piece has some craquelure. Can you confirm and if so how much is there?" Craquelure is cracks to the paint and reduces value since it is costly to repair. OEAH Reply: "Very minimal if any, I would describe the condition as "excellent". Now that I've received word from OEAH that the piece is in excellent condition I am prepared to bid for the item. By the way excellent condition is really about as good as it gets from a condition point of view. Higher than that is Museum quality. Jumping ahead, I win the competitive bidding process, the purchase price is $600.00, plus (as the winner) I am required to pay a buyers premium and pay for shipping to my residence in CA. The end result is that the artwork cost me about $900.00. Because this is an online auction the customer is typically not present so bidders must rely on an accurate description of the item so they can make an informed decision. This is standard behavior and the auction house is heavily relied upon for quality information. When the art arrived, I was stunned by the condition. It had massive craquelure throughout (except in the lower left hand corner) and of course that is the area they decided to post the only close up image of the artwork and the image that compelled me to ask the original question. The sky component (roughly 40% of the artwork) had paint loss, scratches, the frame was chipped in many places (not scratched) and the lining was falling off the piece. When I took it to the guy who typically restores quality art I buy he said it would cost $500.00+ for the craquelure and $900-1800.00 to clean and repair it depending upon how bad it is when taken out of the frame. Of course, the only reason I bought it was because OEAH mentioned that it was in excellent condition. Now I have a unwanted restoration on my hands as a result of fraudulent behavior. This is the note I received from Jacob after alerting him of the condition issues: "If you think you were intentionally deceived, I can not help that. We sell a large volume of inventory and this piece could have been described and photographed in more detail." What??? Anyway, there is absolutely no question that OEAH purposely intended to deceive the public to sell this artwork. They listed the piece in excellent condition and when asked via the live auctioneer email system to validate the condition they once again confirmed that the art was in "excellent condition". A novice could have recognized the glaring condition issues and the way the photos were taken led the potential bidders to believe that there were no issues. If OEAH didn't intend to deceive then they would have uploaded the 8 images I sent them which clearly indicated massive condition issues with the piece. The images they uploaded made the sky component of the artwork is clear (it had by far the most severe damage). Based upon my experience, dealing with an unethical art broker is rare since their reputation is at stake. Jacob doesn't seem to care and apparently only interested in moving the merchandise at inflated prices regardless of how ethical it is. I filed with the Better Business Bureau in Orlando in addition to posting this review. Hopefully it helps people who are relying on the auction house to provide accurate information. Its never easy dealing with unethical people. Its an unwanted time burn. If the response from the BBB is not satisfactory then I will take the company to small claims court in Orlando. The staff was neither helpful, informed or pleasant to deal with and Jacob is one of those types that pass his problems on to customers. As a result, I've had to interrupt my life to post reviews, coordinate with the BBB and file legal docs all because of a deceptive art broker trying to maximize his situation at the expense of his former client. I was there this Saturday, my husband went early to preview what was there. At one point I was looking at some pretty interesting stuff I picked up something to look at it and Jason came over and asked me not to touch it and pointed to the sign. I was shocked that I hadn't seen the sign. I said "Oh my goodness I didn't see the sign" He made it a point to show me how close it was to where I was standing as well as one on the cabinet too. He was extremely rude. I honestly would not have touched anything if I had seen the sign but my apology was not good enough for him. I've been going there for 2 years but I doubt I will return. I have seen him belittle other people as well, and he goes overboard to embarrass people. That's no way to treat your customers. read more

I went to an auction to see how items were sold so that I could manage my expectations prior to selling items at this venue. There is no admission, just walk in and watch, if you want to purchase get a bidder number at the cashier window located at the front door. I previously attempted to sell items in other fashions (Rennenger's and consignment and yard sale) and ended up wasting time and paying fees and storing items. At O.E.A. the items sold and I was sent a check, I just set reasonable expectations and know that I will no longer have to store or deal with these items that are no longer needed. I have also purchased many items from O.E. A. as I have furnished two homes stylishly from this auction. I have been to approximately thirty of their auctions over a years time and have assembled a collection of interesting and unique furnishings for my two homes. If I find a single item that is sold with a group of items I realize that I may have to pay more for that item and I donate the excess items to a local charity (New Beginnings in Winter Garden). Sometimes there is no interest from other buyers and I get "an extreme deal" on the item and sometimes there are many other bidders and I must make a decision on how much to spend on the item. I notice that there are many buyers from various parts of the city and state. Some are buying for personal use, some for resale in stores and some for flea market type sales. I deduce that this unique mix of buyers is needed in order to convert estates to cash. I appreciate having this business as a resource in the community as a venue to sell items that are no longer needed and to acquire items to furnish my properties as needed. I've been to many of their auctions. As a re-sell buyer it is a perfect for me to shop. Previous reviewers complain that their items were sold to cheap. The auction can't control that. While it is true that often really great items end up selling for very reasonable prices, good for me, there is also a lot of junk. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. There is no telling what buyers are interested in buying on any given night or how much they are willing to pay for it. In my experience most sellers are emotional and think their stuff is worth more than it is. read more

It did not go well. I was moving and I allowed them to pick up from my home approximately 2 1/2 truckloads of custom furnishings; 2 sets of custom bedding including duvet covers, filler, decorative pillows and dust ruffles; various antiques; costly silk trees (14 ft+ and others valued at between $500+ and $2000+); numerous custom floral arrangements (some were very large and cost over $800+); 2 suites of bedroom furniture (vintage queen brass bed, antique end tables; antique trunk, Scan Design full king size platform set with triple dresser and chest); large cast iron urns leather Chesterfield sofa in excellent condition; full office set with desk, console, rolling office chair, wood lateral file; outdoor patio furniture (dining and end tables, chairs, chiminea, precast antique bench reproduction, various antique reproduction garden statuary and wall hanging) 7 extra oversized decorative doormats; floor and table lamps; rugs; pine hanging shelves; numerous antique oil lamps; numerous home dec accessories (a houseful) including large, decorative finials, decorative glass, large, decorative candlestick sets, decorative leather boxes, hand carved decorative accessories; 3 full sets of dishware plus various other dishes and serve ware. The list goes on. I was told that all of my merchandise would be labeled with my tag as it came off the truck and that I would receive a check the following week. Disappointingly, this did not happen. My merchandise was not labeled; nor, it appears, was merchandise turned over by others. I never received a full accounting for my merchandise. And, included in my accounting was merchandise that others had given to them to sell. They were simply labeled "choice lots", "choice box lot", "whole table", and there was no way of identifying what had been "grouped for sale" in those lots. When I confronted the owner, Jason, about this; he told me that he was embarrassed. He said that he could not figure out what was included in these "lots". He told me that he had given away the full sets of custom bedding because it's hard to get people to buy used bedding. He should have told me that before I sent the merchandise out to his company. There were many things that he told me that he gave away with something else or grouped with something to sell. I received $50 for a queen size vintage brass bed. He said that he can't control how much anything sells for. He's the auctioneer! Are they starting these auctions at $10 or are they amateurs who can't handle the business? The company takes 35% of all sales. I knew that going in, and that's fine. But, I wanted a full accounting. And, I expected the sales to be for reasonable amounts. For these reasons, I do not recommend this company. If I had been aware of their business practices before I dealt with them, I wouldn't have. I never received more than a pittance of the value of my items. read more

WOW I wish I had read Merrie L.'s review before I had Orlando Estate Auction pick up any of my furniture. IF YOUR A SELLER DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR FURNITURE OR ANYTHING OF VALUE. Stuff that was mine had other people's lot numbers! If I wasn't at the auction I would have never known. What a disaster!. Designer furniture that was presented by the auctioneer as just another piece of furniture. They do not spend and any time even explaining the items up for auction. I wont go through all the pieces that were sold but an example was a chippendale dinning room table with chairs and a leaf and protective customs mats that was in perfect condition (Cost $10,500) sold for $50. An perfect armoire with the tags on it for $2500 they sold for $20. If your a buyer- you can score some great deals- if your a seller- DONATE IT! You can get the tax write off and you wont leave there devastated. Worst experience ever. read more

Customer service is poor staff is rude.They encourage you to bring items when you getthere they turn items away unless you bring them on a certain day.I was told i had to bring in at least 1000 dollars worth of inventory.when i got there wasted a trip up there.once a while back i brought in high end estate items retail value about 800dollars. I understand at auction you get less but when items sold i got check for 48 dollars.I would not bring in high end items to sell at this auction. their customer service and communication is awful. read more
