We just took a quick trip down to Orlando Family Produce, to pick up some Mother's Day flowers for our moms and ended up filling our truck up with produce and flowers! Their prices were WAY better than the grocery store and the service was phenomenal. If you haven't been there before I highly recommend you take the time to check it out and save some $! I always buy all my potted flower plants here in the Spring. They have a huge selection. They cost a bit more over places like Walmart but these plants are much healthier and robust. Therefore better value for your money...waiting for this years batch..... Still the best flowers. They last longer with good care compared to hanging baskets elsewhere read more

What has happened to Orlando's I have bought several items there in the last couple of months first was a head of lettuce and a cantaloupe I got maybe two good leafs out of it and the cantaloupe had dark spots, later I purchased there amish tomatoes at four dollars a lb. and they were no better than the not taste regular ones, today I bought one of there large seeded watermelons and on the tag it said wash me so I washed it thoroughly and after cutting it up it still had a chemical taste so I through the whole thing away after paying over seven dollars for it, they used to be great but I will not buy anything else from them, there prices are ridiculous for what you get read more

Beware they tell you how much you owe for what you are buying. then you ask for the receipt for what you paid for and it is more than they tell you.. I asked why then it was some fast talking about a fee since I used a bank debit card. this fee is not in the open so you can see it, in fact it was posted no where. I asked them to take it back to let me pay in cash and they said they couldn't. I grew up and lived 61 years in Chicago, I have seen a many fast moves and ways to cheat a customer out of their money. So anyway I'm a retired U S Army helicopter pilot, who is partially disabled. I'm going to tell everyone at the V A this not above board tatic is. Everyone at the VFW and the who military network I'm involved with and anyone I speak with. WHY DO YOU HAVE TO BE SNEAKY WITH THIS FORM OF TAKING PEOPLE'S MONEY. They finally gave back this sneaky charge. Imagine how many times they do this times a week then a month etc... be up front and tell your customer this extra charge, then no problem read more

This is a sweet little produce stand. My parents live in O'Fallon so I always try and stop by after leaving their house to stock up on some yummy (and cheap!) locally-grown produce. They have just about anything I need and I usually grab things like bananas, green beans, yellow squash, strawberries, and apples. Everything always tastes so fresh and you can tell it's all very well taken care of. It's so fun to just walk around and browse the different options they have - there aren't a ton, this stand is pretty tiny, but what they do have is solid! They also have a huge flower & plant section if you're looking for any! The employees are so kind and will help you with whatever you need - they even box up your stuff and carry it to your car for you if they aren't too busy. I'm a fan of any place that lets me eat healthy on the cheap. Stop by this stand if you're in the area! read more

This place is the biggest rip off. They get their produce from soulard market second hand. The same stuff you can buy at the grocery store and it's fresher at the grocery store. Hence the stickers. My husband went there today and the lettuce head was mush inside and the grapes were old and shriveled. The asparagus is dried up. $15 later will never go again. This is my favorite local produce vendor. Their stuff is way cheaper than grocery store produce and it's family run, so I love supporting them. It's not true local produce. They're not farmers, only vendors. It's not organic stuff. But this is just a way of supporting my community and not necessarily chain grocery stores. There's always tons to choose from and they'll help you pick the best of the lot if you don't know how to look for pineapples or melons. They've got flowers too. I really like this place. read more

Does doing something 2 times make it a habit? Eh, we'll call it one. My new habit has become dropping by Orlando's on my way home from Anytime Fitness to get some fresh yumminess. See, I love Fuji Apples. My favorites are the organic ones from Whole Foods, but... and this is a big BUT... they are whole-ly (get it?) expensive and haven't been in stock from New Zealand in the last several months. Last week, I stopped by Orlando's Produce, and decided to give their Fuji's a shot. They don't have that crazy shiny sheen to em, which I have come to be a bit disgusted by. Theirs do not have the wax nastiness. Score! I bought a few and they are pretty good. As I was walking by, I noticed an odd looking fruit that I hadn't tried before. Have you ever tried a Cactus Pear? I now have. Am I glad I tried it? Yes. Will I be moving to the desert and residing on a cactus farm so that I can have a daily Cactus Pear fix? No sir. No ma'am. It is such an odd texture and flavor. The juice is a bit on the refreshing side, so that is good, but it's got a similar texture to a pomegranate (not the same taste, though). Imagine biting into a pomegranate (without the skins). Little pockets of liquid surround rather big seeds which are crunchy, but not easy to dominate. As you bite into it, the pockets don't really explode like they would with a pomegranate, but more like disintegrate. It was interesting. And messy. I ate it over the sink. The prices are good... The staff is friendly, and smiles a lot. That sounds a little creepy, but they just seem like nice people... and it isn't creepy like it sounds. Happy Fruiting read more

The fruit has always been great and the people are SUPER friendly and have never given me anything but the best service. I moved from Florissant to O'Fallon and it's great having them so close. I visited Orlando's for the first time today & was very impressed with the quality of their produce. The first thing I noticed on opening my car door was the pleasant aroma of sweet fruit! My nose took over & I heard my tummy rumble. This is what I have been looking for since I moved here from Arizona. I have been a customer of another produce stand in O'Fallon in the past & when I got home with my purchases, I realized that most of it was over ripe. And the prices there weren't much lower than grocery stores so I stopped going there. I read the reviews of Orlando's on Yelp & decided to try it. I got so much great fruit it was incredible! Also, as I was checking out the melons, they lowered the price by 50% because they weren't pleased with them. The berries, tree ripened Georgia peaches, nectarines & apricots smelled like real fruit! They weren't covered in wax or bruised either. I scored ears of corn 3 to a bag for $1.00. Their tomatoes were great too. Also they were selling plants for bedding on a buy one get one free basis. Don't forget to check out the produce in the refrigerators in the back for herbs & stuff. If you haven't been to Orlando's, you're missing out on the best Summer has to offer.
