Wonderful store! I always come here for fruits and veggies but because it is expensive I buy canned and other non produce items elsewhere. I recommend paying attention to the weekly prices they mail out to take advantage on sales, I've got a lot of great meat, seafood, and produce for a steal by looking for deals. My favorite is going on Thursdays for half off their sushi! The staff make it on sight so it's fresh right up at the counter and the rolls taste great! If they don't have a roll you want out you can place an order do your shopping then go back to grab it before checking out! read more

For first-timers I'd describe Fresh Thyme as a Trader Joe's size version of Whole Foods. There are plenty of organic items and an emphasis on fresh. Organic produce prices rival the local supermarket chains' non-organic prices, meaning Fresh Thyme's non-organic produce costs even less. Frequent discounting on common veggies and fruits--especially in season--make the grocer an even better value than (or equal to) Aldi, which doesn't have Fresh Thyme's selection. Ditto for fresh meats and seafood. Regular prices are typical of sale prices at the local markets. Beyond meat and produce, however, you really begin to see price mark-ups--even on house brands and non-organic items--over Fresh Thyme's competitors. Due to the coronavirus several Fresh Thyme services and benefits have been suspended or discontinued. For example, previously you could get as little as you wanted from their bulk food bins. I LOVE this farmers market style grocery store. They have so many great deals and fresh foods- the variety of fruits and veggies are always seasonal and fresh. Make sure you check out their cold pressed juices- they are so flavorful and amazing! If you are working toward a low waste lifestyle the bulk section includes everything from cooking oil- honey, vinegar as well as spices, grains, nuts and dried fruits! I love having a store that focuses on natural and more organic choices for good quality food products. I only wish fresh thyme would be more exclusive and not also offer a mixed range of products that are not natural at all and contain toxins. Regular grocery stores have all of that, but shoppers who come to this store are looking for something else. It makes it easier if the store only offers fresh, high quality, natural products. For example I would not expect to find any products from china (fish, etc) or crest toothpaste or toxic cosmetics and cleaning supplies. All of which are there, mixed in. read more

I'm not quite sure what is going on at this location; but it is definitely not the same experience as it was when it opened; or even say six months ago. As an example, we were in here last Thursday, a bit after 5pm. The first stop was the sandwich/deli counter to get two "build your own sandwiches". They were "out" of multiple items that we tried to get and we were given an eta of "20 minutes" to make the two sandwiches. Now, if they had been busy I would have understood; but we were the ONLY customer up there and from all appearances they weren't making other sandwiches/etc, so I'm not sure what exactly was going to take 20 minutes; but as it turns out it did take that long. Not to mention that the woman who took our "order" had to track us down in the produce section to tell us they were out of one of the breads we had chosen as well. Additionally there were several "outs"; including items that were in their sales ad that had started the day prior. Hey, outs happen; but the amount of them was surprising. One of the four "nut butter" machines was out of service (I think it was the honey peanut butter, but I don't recall for certain), and one of the other machines really needed to be cleaned. And the checkouts. Well just wow. There were two open and they were both stretched out into the bulk food section. Now I will say that the employees were all polite and friendly; which was the bright spot in the visit. Just to be clear; while this visit was worse than most recently; the overall experience is not an isolated one - it was become commonplace here and that's very disappointing. If I want this kind of experience I can get it elsewhere and cheaper at that. I hope that whatever is going on at this location can be rectified because it was one of my favorite places to grocery shop. read more

I have been to the Fresh Thyme in Fairview Heights, IL and the Ballwin one. I had never been to this O'Fallon location before. I like the produce department here, I like the bulk bins, they have a very substantial beer and wine selection, and it's clean and bright. Perhaps the best department is the Health & Beauty. Their selection is admirable. I have found alternative products to what Whole Foods carries and also the same products in different sizes. That's what I was here for tonight and I found exactly what I was looking for. Great vitamin and supplement selection as well! read more

Lots to like about the store, but Checkout suuucks! I like the meat selection, prices on produce, and bulk section. What isn't great is only having a single person working the deli counter which can take 10 minutes or so just to get some meat sliced. By 5pm, they MAY have 2 rotisserie chickens left, which is a pain. My biggest gripe is the checkout. The workers will look at the line of 8 folks in each of the two open lines and not give it a second thought to opening a third checkout lane. Nope, just go ahead and plan on waiting in line for 8-10 minutes before you can get to the front of the line. read more

I recently went to Fresh Thyme for the first time with the family. It reminded me of a grander Trader Joe's. What I mean by this is that there is a bigger selection of fresh fruits and vegetables. There is also a bigger selection of meat. Their frozen meals/premade food is about the same in my mind as Trader Joe's. I did enjoy the different selections of all the different items as some are specific for Fresh Thyme. The best time to get something there or go would be when the item that you want is on sale. Otherwise, save your money and go to the nearby Schnucks or Shop n Save. That being said their sales go Wednesday to Wednesday. Busy-ish today. Had 4 items all in our hands standing in line. PAT kept grabbing customers that were just walking up and hustling them to the lines. I made solid eye contact with her because she was doing this. Growing frustrated because I think this a solid failure of grocery stores. Then she pulls the people behind us and opens the lane adjacent. Having had enough, I spoke up, asking why she keeps pulling people who just walked up? She made a lame excuse she hasn't seen us waiting. That was a complete lie to cover her butt. read more

Love this place. I participate in the weekly Thursday $5 sushi special. A lot of grocery stores sell sushi which can be a hit or miss but Fresh Thyme always has great sushi! Great produce section as well. The store also has like the occasional unusual item such as natural soap or bath salts. I'm a happy customer! read more

Is this place a farmers market or just a new grocery store cleverly named to stand out from the rest? Well it definitely caught my attention and got me in doors. My first stop was to the bakery section where I grabbed 3 cookies and continued on perusing the rest of the store. Most if not all the produce was marked as organic which seems to be such a loosely used word nowadays to me. I didnt notice what was locally sourced but I did notice what was shipped in. Maybe I missed those labels. At checkout I wasnt greeted but my cashier answered the phone and spent some time answering the callers questions to the point the next person in line left and went to another. At least she realized that wasnt a wise thing to do and chalked it up to having a long day, no apology. I'm not sure if answering the phone is optional but why are customer calls routing to the cashiers phones anyway?!?!?!? This is not acceptable imo. Anyway I get home and try the cookies that are all very blah, one of which tasted very grainy as if the batter wasnt properly mixed. It seems theyre trying to carve out their own little niche in the food market with the cute little honey and cereal stations and the kids carts. But i shouldnt knock the first in the area esp when the prices seemed reasonable in comparison. Enjoy the variety if food thats hard to find elsewhere. Alternative would be driving far to a Trader Joes.

Still fairly new so it's usually pretty crowded, but the staff seems very knowledgeable about where things are located. Good selection of vegetarian and gluten free groceries. When I couldn't find brussels sprouts, I asked a man working in produce who told me the sprouts weren't up to their standards so they didn't want them out on the floor, but he was willing to let me look through them anyway. This place has quality food and is exactly what it says it is. However, multiple times I have gone in there, the pizza section is closed 10-15 minutes early. The gentlemen then don't make eye contact, as well as, they stay far away from the pizza side. When I asked what time they closed, the both answered 7 and carried on talking. The time was 6:53, and neither one of the boys came over to take my order. Overall, disappointed in their customer service. The hours of operation are convenient and they often have great sale prices on produce. The prepared veggie section (zoodles, celery sticks, etc.) is frequently under stocked. The staff is friendly and the environment is comfortable. They have many of the same core products as Whole Foods, and with them being so much closer it is much more convenient. Many would think of this as a "health food" store for vegans and vegetarians. They do carry some products like this, but many of the products are actually just marketed as being "healthy". If you read the labels, you will find it is the same packaged and processed food in a different "wrapping". Bottom line, go for the produce and unprocessed stuff, and read the labels to avoid paying extra for fancy packaging that looks healthy but the product is not. read more

My wife and I absolutely love this store! The products they offer, their new(ish) app, their customer service, everything! One of the main, staples of our family groceries is their Honey Roasted Peanut Butter. You make it right there and it's as easy as pushing the start/stop button. But it comes out fresh, warm and however much to want! We also really enjoy their deli section, where you have a ton of Boars Head meats and cheeses, and the staff is almost 100% of the time extremely friendly and pretty quick, which is helpful when you're in a rush. From now on I will only buy their peanut butter & fresh sliced lunch meat. Twice I bought a chuck roast the first one had a thick layer of fat on the bottom & the second had so much silver skin & gristle it was inedible. Their "fresh" sausage links taste old.
