I have had an extremely negative experience with this practice, starting from the day of my appointment when I was left in the waiting room 35 minutes past my appointment time and was treated rudely by the front desk staff member. The doctor and medical assistants were fine, no complaints, but nothing to provide an exceptional patient experience. I went in for an injury to my thumb/hand and was examined, an X-ray was done to confirm no fracture, and was given a plastic thumb brace to wear. The real issue came after the fact, when 5 months later I received the bill. This practice billed my insurance $1,336 for the plastic thumb brace. Of which, I was responsible for $774.88 after the claim was submitted to my insurance and the rate discounted. A simple Google search led me to find the exact item on Amazon for $34.99. I called the office I spoke to someone in billing to explain this and that I was not given any inkling when I was given the brace that the cost could potentially be this high, or that it was something I could easily purchase myself at an extremely low cost. They said they would put the bill into review and a manager would get back to me- ok, fine. Fast forward 2 months- I never heard back from them. Called and left two messages in that time frame. Finally after another call, the billing manager called me back the same day. In an extremely disappointing interaction, this manager proceeded to disregard me continually and repeat that the office charged the "allowable amount" for my insurance company and they have no control over what that is because it's in their contract with the insurance company. They said they cannot give any discounts or alter the claim because it has already been submitted to my insurance. They claim that they have no control over what they bill for durable medical equipment and no responsibility to act ethically to their patients and inform them of potential costs. They also claim that they cannot give any indication of price at the time of appointment because it's all up to my insurance company. I was rudely told, "you signed an agreement to pay any portion of costs insurance didn't pay for." When I said ok, so my fault for signing something I should have read more closely, but the fact remains, there are many ways your staff can make this possibility more clear to patients ahead of time so this can be prevented for someone else. I asked if I could speak to someone regarding my experience of not being clearly informed of the potential costs or that it could be purchased elsewhere very inexpensively, I was told bluntly "no, there is no one you can speak to about that." Obviously, no one in their right mind would take the brace from the office if they knew it would be billed to insurance for $1336. So it is ABUNDANTLY clear that this office cares nothing about patient experience or needs and only about charging the highest possible allowable amount for services and DME to collect as much $ as possible. They have NO interest in helping their patients or working with them to solve an issue, only about collecting as much $ as possible. The situation is very simple- Orlin & Cohen is requiring me to pay them $775 for a $40 piece of plastic and claiming they have no control over it. This is simply untrue and reflects poor patient care and unethical billing practices. And their way of handling it is giving me the run around and telling me the bill will be put to collections if I do not pay. I highly suggest you stay away from this office and practice in general. This is the worst experience I have ever had with a medical provider and the most truly uncared for I have ever felt after an interaction with a medical facility. read more

I had the utmost pleasure of working with one of the physical therapists: Liffy. All my life, I had back pain and never thought much about it. I always figured it was just me over-exerting myself through school, work, or sports. After having an MRI, I had a better understanding of my pain. However, after meeting with the physical therapists at Orlin and Cohen, I was given advice on ways to increase my range of motion. After completing sessions with them for a couple months, I began to move better. I've had previous experiences with physical therapy, where I would just be given a massage and light stretches and sent on my way. That was temporary relief. At Orlin and Cohen, Liffy emphasized that although I had leg muscle, the tightness of the muscle pulled on my lower back which was causing the pain. He also emphasized that a strong core is needed in order to maintain bodily stability in regard to my back pain. To this day, I am stretching and working out daily as a result of his advice. I have progressed and am able to return back to playing sports at a national level, but of course, I am still cautious not to overexert myself. The moment you walk through the doors you feel welcomed by the front desk staff. They greet you with a smile and are all so friendly and kind.The Physical Therapist's are all amazing at what they do and they get results with your rehab program. Each and everyone of them can put a smile on your face as you grind through your rehab they have set up for you. They will guide you through your workouts and strike up great congratulations to help you pass the time, as they work their magic and make you feel better then when first walked through the door. I've only been treated by the 3 of the Physical Therapists for the past few months for the ankle surgeries I had. I'm very pleased with the work Jennifer Chelsea and Liffy have done so far. I've been there a lot and have seen all the other PT and OT staff at work and I wouldn't hesitate to let any of them work with me. The Physical Therapy aides are all so helpful and knowledgeable in assisting you and getting you ready for the Physical therapist to work on your injury. If I could give them all 10 Stars i definitely would. You won't be disappointed at all that you picked Orlin & Cohen Physical and Occupational Therapy in Bellmore NY for your treatment. read more

I have been going to Orlin and Cohen for my PT since mid September to rehab my knee due to meniscus surgery. I could not be happier with the care and attention I have received from my therapist, Jennifer. She has been fantastic in tending to my needs and concerns with the ultimate goal of getting me back to normal. I couldn't ask for better care. In addition, working with Natacha (assistant who works me through all my exercises) has been such a positive experience. She is such a joy to work with where I don't mind going in for my therapy. I went to Orlin & Cohen to rehab my ankle back when I was in college. I was working with Liffy and he was amazing. He was very determined to get me back on the court and be healthy again while I was home for the summer. He was able to adjust for me and give me harder workouts. He really pushed me and gave me the confidence to be a high-level athlete. I play basketball professionally now and Liffy has mentally helped me overcome any injuries I may experience.
