When I began my search for a security door install company, it was quite difficult, because I live in Vallejo, and I didn't see many reputable options. I eventually stumbled upon Den Defenders during my search, and after doing some research on them, and seeing lots of positive reviews, I decided to call, and schedule an appointment with them. For my initial consultation appointment, I was set up with their awesome employee Mike Carson. Mike was the best to work with, as he was a very professional individual, who seemed quite knowledgeable about the products, and services that Den Defenders offered. Mike helped me find the perfect solution for my home, and family's needs, as we needed a door that would allow more airflow into Our home for the hot summers, while keeping out insects, and also being very secure, so that we can sleep without worry of any intruders entering our home. Mike recommended the Viewguard security door, as it appeared to meet all of my family's needs. After Mike educated us on the door, its quality, and its features, We were sold, so we ordered one, and set up an appointment for the install date. When it was install day, My family was very excited, because when we first seen the door, it looked like a very high-quality, and sturdy unit. The install took about a few hours, as my home needed some stucco modification for the door to fit, but the Den Defenders crew had all of the tools/ equipment to get the job done, and they even kept the area clean as they worked, which was a huge relief, and very professional on their part. I'd like to point out that I couldn't be more happier, and satisfied with my purchase, and I would highly recommend this company to anyone in the market for a high-quality security door installation. Before ending my review, I'd like to personally say a big thank you to Mike Carson for setting everything up, and ensuring a very satisfactory experience for me, and my family. I'd also like to thank the rest of the Den Defenders team for doing an exceptional job (I've included a picture in my review of the two crew members who did my install, and they were awesome, and very professional as well!). I am disappointed with their policy. I needed a remote replacement. I was advised I would have to…read morepay over $400.00 for a full inspection then the price of the remote. I am a repeat customer and was told there was nothing else that could be offered to me. I Paid for a full inspection 2023 or 2024 and the year before had an inspection as well. I was told it's not needed every year unless there are problems. But their policy now is of such if they touch my insert, even removing the glass to hit a reset button for the remote they would have to do a full inspection. So total Cost would be close to $600.00 when all that is needed is a remote. I did find a company to Come and handle the remote only but I would have rather stayed with Fireplace Tech. Disappointed

I thought I had an appointment confirmed but then I was told because I didn't call someone back it was cancelled..then they showed up?? The guys were nice. Eli explained what they were doing. They were quick and efficient and they left everything clean. They did a great job. They explained what they did and what they saw that might need work And at that point, they walked out the door with a five star review. Here's where it gets dicey. When they came, my flue was open. Being widowed I've learned to make fires but I have never opened or shut the flue. It was open when they got there and when they left the last thing they said was "OK now you can make a fire". But they didn't tell me that they had shut the flue or damper. I didn't know it was a thing until I made a fire and my house filled up with smoke. Opening all the doors and windows didn't work. The fire alarm kept going off. I couldn't make it stop. I shut the glass on the fireplace. Ended up having to call the fire department. I had to get my cats and throw them out in the rain and wait outside. The fire dept confirmed the flue was closed. They opened it and they brought in big fans to air the smoke out of my house. It's still smell smoky. The worst thing is this was super traumatic for me. I didn't know why the house was smoky I didn't know what to do. I didn't have my husband or anyone to help and I was panicked. It was a really horrible experience except for the hot firefighters lol. Based on that they would get zero stars so I gave them 2

Their estimate was thorough and fair. Eli and his team completed excellent work, and even went above and beyond in doing things like covering our chimney with tarps until the work could be completed. It's obvious that they take pride in the quality of their work. Shenda was also great to work with - she made sure to answer all of our questions and patiently helped us to think through our options. We will definitely work with them in the future for our chimney cleaning and repair needs.

Their message advises that they will get back to me in 1 to 2 days with a 5-week appointment time. I never received a call back. I called again about 4 days later and left another message with the same result, no call back. I called again this week and left another message. Now their appointment time is 7 weeks out. It's been more than 3 days and I still have not received a call back. I understand people can be busy, but don't say in your message you'll respond in 1 to 2 days when that is far from true. You obviously had time to change your message from 5 to 7 weeks appointment time, why not call back potential customers. Looking at other reviews it seems like this is a trend. If I can't even get a simple call back, what makes me think they'll come back out if something goes wrong with their work. Definitely going somewhere else!
