Avoid for Large Projects - Poor Communication, Costly Mistakes, and Delays I would not hire R&A Stone and Tile unless you are a contractor yourself and can monitor the job 24/7. They may be fine for small tiling jobs, or a cheap kitchen flip that you don't care about the quality but anything beyond that is a mistake. Project Experience: -Disorganized & Poor Communication: Ruben, the contractor, constantly miscommunicated with his crew, leading to errors and wasted time. The crew speaks limited English, and Ruben failed to properly relay instructions. -Constant Rescheduling & Delays: The project was plagued with intentional delays because they were trying to juggle randoms crew members to the job site. They do not have a dedicated crew. To keep the job moving, I had to step in and install my stove hood myself. Quality of Work: -Minimal Supervision & Costly Mistakes: Ruben was only on-site for 30 minutes to an hour a day. The crew made frequent errors, wasted materials, and ultimately cost me an extra $5,000 in materials. Unprofessional Workmanship: -A crew member (Adrian) improperly used self-leveling, causing mortar to seep through walls and doors. -The same worker almost set my kitchen on fire due to incorrect wiring. -A junior crew member (Manuel) threw away new materials, further increasing costs. -My husband and I had to redo the wall texture they applied because it was done so poorly. -The countertop was improperly installed (by Victor), leading to a post-installation crack. The contractor promised to fix it but was a no-show, wasting an entire day of our time. -The dishwasher was incorrectly installed (Ricardo), requiring my husband to take a day off to reinstall it. Material Pricing & Usage: The contractor ordered materials on my behalf, but the pricing changed and was increased without transparency. The crew also took materials I paid for to use on other job sites. Also on two occasions, we had to order more tiles at 3x the cost because all the measurements were incorrect. Other Issues: -The crew trashed and clogged our bathroom toilet. They denied responsibility until I installed a camera--only then did the issue stop. -Never reimbursed or refunded for damages and extra expenses. Final Verdict: Ruben is a nice guy and means well, but his company is not equipped for big jobs (over $10K). If you have a small bathroom tile job, they might be fine, but anything beyond that--find a better contractor. We rushed to finish the project just to be done with them, and in hindsight, we should have hired someone else from the start. Ruben and his team did a fantastic job removing 30 year old glued down hardwood in my family room then completing the tile work. I believe the whole project was about 7 days, mind you this was done during some really raining days, I think it could have been completed quicker if it was not raining however we were not in a rush, we did not want to rush the great work that Ruben and his team did. Trust me when I say removing the glued down hardwood was no easy task. It took myself about 2 hours just to complete a 4' by 2' section when we remodeled our kitchen. No floor scrapping machine was used, this was all done by chisels and hammers. Well there was use of a hammer drill but not the big industrial machines. It turned out great, Ruben also addressed some concrete cracks that we had just to make sure that he had a good foundation to lay the tile. Regarding cost, Ruben was not the most expensive nor the cheapest, his quote was right in the sweet spot. Also we went with our gut because you could tell that he knew what he was talking about and what needed to be accomplished. Hats off to his team, very knowledgeable group and we depended on them to complete our home. We supplied the tile and grout, Ruben provided the rest however my wife is always the best host and she provided lunches to the team on most days. Ruben's team went above and beyond for us, we can thank Ruben and his team enough. In the future when more needs come up, we will definitely have Ruben and his team work for us again. Our bathroom looks beautiful. Inmer did most of the work and he was a good worker and was very detail oriented. We removed a wall and two soffits. After the removal, there were pipes that had to he removed and relocated . It turned out really nice and the cost was reasonable to do the extra work. I would use them again, however, next time I would inspect all materials before they were installed. Our countertop has a couple of small chips that we did not notice when we bought it. Ruben said it could be fixed but no one ever came to look at it. They are small so we will just live with them. read more

We had a great experience with Rubin and his team for our outdoor kitchen, the granite we used had a flame finish which isn't the easiest material/finish to work with especially when you are requesting mitered edges. Our project was quite complex with backsplash, mitered edges and difficult corner pieces but it turned out great. In my opinion working with stone is more art than science and Rubin is a true artist, he is meticulous and very proud of his work and rightly so. Rubin gave me some great ideas to make my project better than I had planned, no other fabricator did that. He was also very economical with the slabs which saved me a lot in material cost, most of the fabricators I contacted said they needed 4 slabs, Rubin completed the job with 2. I got 6 quotes and Rubin was competitively priced, great to work with and very honest about the process and any shortcomings ahead of time. Rubin is a pleasure to work with, he's a funny guy, I was sad to see him finish the job.
