The house is actually now used as a retreat for writers. There is a second large house on the property as well (white one). The architecture on both houses is gothic meets Victorian meets Maine. Well-maintained property; the grounds and home exteriors are in top condition. I can only imagine what the inside looks like. Many folks make the pilgrimage to Bangor because of Stephen and his relationship with the town. Our visits were for that very reason. This stop is definitely a must for any fan of his work.

Ranging from dive bars like The Roost, to a college party bar like the Bear Brew, to the three local breweries/taprooms of Orono Brewing Company, Marsh Island Brewing, and Black Bear Brewery. Or the option of drinking at home with buying alcohol from Burby and Bates. With plenty of food options as well, from the original Pat's Pizza to Orono house of pizza, the bear brew if you are feeling pizza. To margaritas for Mexican cuisine to harvest moon deli for sandwiches, to verve for burritos similar to a chipotle. Along with food and outdoor entertainment during the summer at Woodman's Bar and Grill to The family Dog. Lots of great local finds in the area all within reasonable walking distance when it's nice out. The Stillwater river gives plenty of recreational options to do as well, from swimming, kayaking as well as other outdoor activities with lots of walking paths. A great community made up of mostly of University of Maine students and faculty. Lots to find and do in this relatively small college town.

Located in the same mall area as IGA and Spotlight Cinemas. You can buy time to jump ranging from 60 to 90 to 120 minutes with prices going from $14 to $25. Depending on the day/night there may be discounts such as college night, teen night or family night so plan accordingly. Also beware you will need to buy jumping socks for $2.50 on top of the jumping time. Also safety waivers will need to be signed which can be done on their website or when you are going. I found pricing to be decent especially if you go on one of the special days for a discount. They have tons of normal trampolines but even better they have things such as dodgeball, foam pits, slack lines, an arcade, and other activities to keep you busy. Your best bet for having fun is bringing a group of friends or the whole family. After coming here and jumping for awhile you should be getting tired. Don't get too crazy or let your kids get too crazy as injuries could happen in this type of environment. A much needed addition to the entertainment in Orono.

We were very glad to find this dog park during our visit to Bangor. It has lots of parking and…read moremultiple dog areas. There is also a trail you can take your pup on. Unfortunately for us when we arrived there were only large dogs and the play areas are separated by size. I took our dog out to walk her around a bed and was approached by a small child, maybe 7 years old asking to pet my dog. She asked my dog's name and pet her for a few minutes before heading into the large dog enclosure. There were four or five women in the enclosure and maybe maybe 8 large dogs. I assumed the little girl belonged to one of them. After a few more minutes, I decided to walk my small dog over to the exterior of the large dog area. Sometimes people don't mind mixing and matching sizes as long as you check in with them and we didn't bring our dog to the dog park to sit alone in an enclosure. However, when I got close to the large dog enclosure, I could tell that the women were upset with the child that came in to play with their dogs. They were asking where her parents were and telling her that she shouldn't be inside the enclosure if she doesn't like being jumped on and things of that nature. I allowed my dog to sniff around the outside of the enclosure and tried to greet some of the womento ask if it would be okay if I could bring her in. It was clear they were frustrated with the situation with the little girl and the overall mood was just bad so we decided to walk around outside instead. We did see some teenagers come over to the enclosure later and they apparently were the ones responsible for the small child so they were getting in the earful from the ladies inside as we were leaving. While the park didn't exactly work out for us and we didn't feel very welcome or comfortable, it's very possible that was a unique circumstance. The park itself seems to be a good one, especially if you have a large dog and it's definitely worth a stop to see if your pup can have a better time than ours did.

Agility area is in disrepair. Gates are hard to open or don't even close. Littered with broken dog toys. The poop is the fault of dog owners, clearly. I don't understand going to the effort of bringing your dog somewhere and then being that irresponsible. I won't be going back. The trails right there would be more enjoyable.
